Many of you might be already aware of our open beta testing program. Today, we are excited to announce a private testing program for MX Player. In order to improve the user experience and stability further in our feature releases, we are currently looking for active volunteers. Interested volunteers are requested to fill the Google Form (https://goo.gl/forms/EzHTFc5CLcMXkuC72). Selected private testers will get the opportunity to have a direct contact with us & they can get early access to our future hot-fixes & developmental features.

Good knowledge and understanding of MX Player & It's features

Orchid is a new open source music player forked from the popular Vanilla Music. It adds Dropbox streaming to the original, and streamlines the interface. There are currently not many apps that can stream music from Dropbox, so more choice is always good, right? Also, this is, to my knowledge, the first fully open source one, and it further differentiates itself by supporting Replay Gain.

play local music with support for Replay Gain and gapless playback
stream songs from your Dropbox, also with support for Replay Gain and gapless playback

It's a nice project and I will feature it in the portal once it's fixed
It currently only has development access to the Dropbox API, limiting it to very few users. I need to put some more work into the app before I can request additional quota from Dropbox, so it can only stay a limited beta for now. Thanks for these very encouraging words though! I'll get the app ready for prime time eventually.

This app is a fork of the popular Vanilla Music. It adds Dropbox streaming, and streamlines the interface. There are already a few music players that can stream from Dropbox, but, to my knowledge, this is the only fully open source one, and it further differentiates itself by supporting ReplayGain.
Current features:
play local music with support for Replay Gain
stream songs from your Dropbox, also with support for Replay Gain
mix local and Dropbox songs in the playback queue
High up on the to-do list:
clean up the interface a bit to remove traces of Holo and make it fully Material
add support for streaming more music formats from Dropbox
This is an early release, so it may not be completely stable. However, your files are safe even if the app malfunctions, because it only ever reads from Dropbox, never writes to it. Please post any feedback in this thread. Thanks!

For the record: I published an earlier version of this app here more than a year ago under a different name, but it was incomplete and had very limited API quota, making it largely unusable. This new version is much better, with unlimited API quota and several major issues resolved.
Updates
I fixed a common crash and a network issue that caused slowness. The app should now run smoothly and in a stable manner.
The new version is on Google Play and attached to this post as an apk.

MX is the best video and music player for Android. This app is better because of its wide range of options
that fine tunes the playback of video and audio files for the best experience.
Pretty clean, familiar facebook page and website. No crazy foreign tongues or new logos, slogans or branding. I'm fairly inclined to believe this is the real deal, but it's not mentioned on the Play Store page.
So, help me out here. Do I need to uninstall MX Player and switch to VLC full time before I'm taken on a wild new ride I didn't sign up for?

I received an email response from the developer. J2 Interactive (Korea) sold MX Player to a company in India. MX Player has been renamed to MXPlay, and is now a form of some India-only Netflix for providing movie streaming subscription services.
