American Verizion Note 8 on German T-Mobile - General Questions and Answers

I have a Note 8 I purchased from and used on Verizon when I lived in the US. Now I'm in Germany with a T-Mobile sim card in the phone and I'm having issues.
My phone is unlockd but won't update (Verizon phone on T-Mobile). Every time the phone restarts, it tells me I don't have a Verizon sim card. The voicemail app and a few other Verizon specific things don't work.
After some research, I understand why it won't update but I don't know which way to go to fix this. I have never jailbroke or flashed a phone before but figure that's where this is headed. I'm wary of bricking the phone but am pretty good at following instructions and figuring things out.
My priority is getting the Note 8 updating but I'd also like to remove/fix the Verizon specific issues too.
Any help, advice, links or whatever would be appreciated.

This is a good question but, it requires a little bit of explaining...
The answer is "NO" only if the device was obtained under contract and the terms of the contract was not fulfilled.
Just 1 example would be... If someone had obtained the device for a discounted price with a 2 year contract and didn't fulfill those terms, then the Serial Number (aka IMEI Number) would then be blocked by that carrier and can only be released by that carrier. Also, the Serial/IMEI Number cannot be changed.
If the above doesn't apply to your situation and, If the SIM is not a Verizon SIM, then you would need to obtain a Verizon compatible SIM from the carrier you want to use. This is also known, by most carriers, as the BYOP (Bring Your Own Phone) Program.
I hope I had explained this okay via text...
Good Luck!

Probably late already but the Verizon galaxy s3 is factory unlocked and i can confirm that it's working on AT&T. You can't get a data connection though because it only supports 2G and AT&T dropped 2G support already. You are still able to make phone calls and send and receive SMS. Did you confirm that the phone was on the latest 4.4.2 I535OYUDNE1? I don't see why it wouldn't be working unless the phone got blacklisted or something.

Switching carriers from VZW to TMobile with the Note 8 & flashing

Hello everyone i am just trying to get some information i have been reading a lot of threads the last couple of days. And I am curious to know. I am switching carriers from Verizon to Tmobile and bringing my note 8 with me. what i want to know is if i flash my note 8 from Verizon to tmobile firmware, will it unlock the bands that i currently can't use. I am aware that tmobile utilizes a couple of different bands that Verizon doesn't. So I am just trying to get some clarification on this. Thanks again for all your help.

Android phone for Canada: Dual SIM or dedicated? Which to choose?

Fellow techies,
I'm based in the USA, but I visit Canada (both Vancouver Island/Victoria and the BC mainland) 3-4 times per year. I've discovered, the hard way, that my T-Mobile LG V20 (H918T) Just Doesn't Cut It, especially in Victoria. Despite my rate plan being enabled for it, I consistently lose the ability to do texts, data, and anything other than (overpriced) voice calls while in Victoria proper (Topaz Park, Downtown, etc.)
I'm looking at a couple of ideas. The first is a dual-SIM Android phone, one which gives me the ability to, literally, switch between the two countries (I figure I'll just get a pay-as-you-go SIM from Virgin or Bell for the Canada side). The big problem I've run into here is none of the dual-SIM phones I've looked at to date, either rugged or standard, have a removable (read: user-replaceable) battery. That's one thing I absolutely insist on, and it is a deal-breaker.
The second idea is to get a second Canada-dedicated phone, with a pay-as-you-go SIM, and simply turn my US unit off once I cross the border. Again, however, I'm running into the problem of finding one with a removable battery. I'm also uncertain which model I should look at in terms of bands covered.
I own, and very much like, the LG V20. I'd cheerfully grab another one just for use in Canada -- if I could figure out which specific variant to buy, given my carrier preference!
Advice requested. Thanks much!

Pixel 32GB google edition explained? GSM/CDMA

Hello all. I have a question about the Pixel 1 device. I'm upgrading from a Nexus 5 to a Pixel 32gb. I found a few on eBay and Amazon for $179, but having a really hard time understanding which is what. I am on Project Fi service which uses Sprint, TMobile, and US Cellular. Both CDMA and GSM networks. I thought that all "unlocked" Pixels support all bands and frequencies. The eBay listings say unlocked but NOT for sprint or not for Verizon.
Do i need this rare "google edition" Pixel in order to take full advantage of the Project Fi network? How come an unlocked pixel doesn't support sprint? Maybe someone can explain the different devices more in depth? I'm trying to understand this a little better.
Also i was wondering if there is a way to see in the phone settings if it was for a certain carrier like Verizon or Sprint at some point?
Thank you so much.

Thank you for the reply but you may have misunderstood my question. I don't need help choosing or buying a new phone. I need help understanding the Pixel wireless radios on a hardware and software level. I'm curious as to why an unlocked pixel wont support a certain carrier. Take for instance an unlocked Verizon Pixel. It'll work with every carrier but not sprint. Why?

I don't know if this is the case but, I had found that unlocked Prepaid devices won't work for other carriers.
As for the reason... I really don't know.

Need urgent help with unlocking S7

Hi all ! Ok so my gf is about to go abroad in a few days and we'd like to have her Samsung S7 Duos ( SM-G930FD i think) so it would work in UAE. We've tried using the various unlocking website and even went to a store close to us to have it unlocked to no avail so I was thinking if maybe someone here can point me to a few guides so I can do it myself. I am well aware of the risks and am fairly confident in my ability to learn. Now the problem is that with the dual sim phone she has the 2nd sim slot comes openline by default (contract phone for 2 years) but it cannot connect to any mobile data network except that of the first sim's carrier. Yes i know we could have this unlocked by the carrier but she stopped paying her bill last month coz of the crappy service and honestly it's a waste of money if we do that. Anyway, can someone point me/ give me some tips as to how I go about doing this? Will rooting and flashing firmware solve this? Or do I use other softwares like Odin etc etc? Would really appreciate any help I could get. Thank you for reading.
