How to Figure Out if Bootloader is Locked - General Questions and Answers

As the Topic title states I would like to know how to tell if a bootloader is locked. This is all mostly new to me. I wish to try to root a device, which I have done before, but as I understand the situation it needs to be unlocked, and I have no idea what that means.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 SM-G920V that I bought from eBay. The listing said it was a Verizon Unlocked GSM device, which I understand it to be able to be used on other networks/carriers.
The device is currently on 7.0 Nougat which is how I received it. I can try to provide any information necessary if someone would be willing to help me out.
Thanks in advance!

Okay, I took your suggestion and made a post there as well. Should I leave this one up? Or am I even able to close it down on my own without a moderator or admin?

SM-G920V is a Verizon Galaxy S6. The bootloader on this device (and on the G920A ATT) has been locked down since its release

This I read. What I was hoping for is how to tell it is locked.

Will my device brick if I attempt that? And can I fix it if it does?

Even if it does, you can always flash back to VZW stock firmware. But i wouldn't bother trying it if I were you

Samsung S7 930V Root Method?

Hi, I wanted to know if there is any up to date root method for Samsung S7 930V? The ones I have seen are from last year and don't work for me. I have already tried auto-root and this method https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-s7-edge/how-to/verizon-root-knox-t3410624. Odin gave me a write operation error and the other method gave me a boot-loop. I am on nougat build number NRD90M.G930VVRS4BQC9. If anyone can help me that would be great. Thanks.

BL file keeps failing to download using ODIN

Hello, i would really appreciate if someone give me a solution/s because i am running out of patience and options. i tried possibly everything i found and nothing works.
I have a S7, Model SM-G930W8 with Virgin Mobile Canadian version. This started when i tried to install the latest software update using ODIN. The BL file FAILS all the time. I tried using the other 3 files without BL and everything works, but with BL dont. I am 100 % sure that BL file is the problem because i tried in ODIN that file alone and it FAILED. Also i tried 6.0 Software and the same thing. Also Stock Firmware the same result. BL keeps failing on ODIN.
Please i really need help. thanks in advance to anyone for time and efforts

Thank you for replying to my issue. I already tried 2 of those links you have provided. Also posted my question to the last link, still waiting for any answer hopefully.
While i was trying to fix my phone today i notice that TWRP recovery was still there. I have no clue whatsoever how TWRP is still on my phone, because i have been formatting the phone so many times trying to fix the issue of BL file and never installed back the TWRP. Perhaps is the TWRP who is preventing the BL file being install on the phone. What's your guess ? do you have any good idea how to remove/ uninstall TWRP from my phone ? thanks again

I wish that I could be more helpful but, I don't have this device.
Here's 1 last thread that I had located that may hopefully be helpful to you and, if needed, post your question within it for some member guidance.

Besides that, just be patient for a response.
Just an FYI... the following link has the Official Stock PIT file for your device in case you may need it.

I do wish you the best of luck!

Thanks to your HELP finally it worked. I was able to flash BL and CP files at first and then all 4 files together. Saying only thank you is very small compare to the big relief you have provided. Truly and Sincerely THANK YOU.
The last 2 things i will ask from you, as there are very unsafe methods out there:
1) How can i reverse safely to the STOCK Firmware, is there any specific procedure ?
2) Now the Phone is sitting on Nougat 7.0 version (https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s7/SM-G930W8/VMC/download/G930W8VLS3BRA2/205626/ ) which is the latest for my phone, Could you advise any safe method to root this version ?
thanks again for your time and efforts. all the best. peace

Just keep in mind that, if you have a device that has a dedicated area on the forum, your best bet in locating/posting a resolution somewhere within it.
Also, most (unfortunately not all) of the big developments like TWRP, LineageOS, etc... Will have a dedicated thread that's specifically for instructions, support and member guidance.
Good Luck!

Samsung Galaxy S7 stuck in TWRP slpashscreen loop.

Yea, the title says it all. Odin detects the phone, but i cannot do anything with the phone. It would be nice if someone could help me, I would like to have stock Android 8.0 (if possible 7.1 i like it better). Thanks. Data loss isn't a problem for me. Made a backup before i did this to my phone.
