As the Topic title states I would like to know how to tell if a bootloader is locked. This is all mostly new to me. I wish to try to root a device, which I have done before, but as I understand the situation it needs to be unlocked, and I have no idea what that means.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 SM-G920V that I bought from eBay. The listing said it was a Verizon Unlocked GSM device, which I understand it to be able to be used on other networks/carriers.
The device is currently on 7.0 Nougat which is how I received it. I can try to provide any information necessary if someone would be willing to help me out.
Thanks in advance!

Okay, I took your suggestion and made a post there as well. Should I leave this one up? Or am I even able to close it down on my own without a moderator or admin?
SM-G920V is a Verizon Galaxy S6. The bootloader on this device (and on the G920A ATT) has been locked down since its release

This I read. What I was hoping for is how to tell it is locked.

Will my device brick if I attempt that? And can I fix it if it does?
Even if it does, you can always flash back to VZW stock firmware. But i wouldn't bother trying it if I were you
Okay, so i've done a lot of searching to try to root my s8

Android version - 8.0.0
Samsung experience version - 9.0
Baseband version - G955USQU4CRE9

Running on Snapdragon
i'm sorry if i'm not posting in the right place, and for not knowing much about rooting, I just don't want to brick my phone and need the best help i could get for this .

Just keep in mind that, if you have a device that has a dedicated area on the forum, your best bet in locating/posting a resolution somewhere within it.
Also, most (unfortunately not all) of the big developments like TWRP, LineageOS, etc... Will have a dedicated thread that's specifically for instructions, support and member guidance.
Good Luck!

Hi all,
I am trying to flash my Sasmung S7 SM-G930F to Android 6 as I hate Nougat and now its powering on and going straight to factory binary mode every time I restart start the phone. I have matched the com file and firmware with the binary etc so I thought it would work fine. Any help would be great as I hope I havent bricked my phone.
Thanks
Andrew
