Upgrade Gear S2->S3 - can you transfer data? - Samsung Gear S3

Hi all,
I've tried searching and come up with nothing for this situation. I've been using a Gear S2 for a long time and now I'm switching to a Gear S3. Is it possible to transfer over all the data from the S2? I need things like the step count, heart rate data, app settings etc. (no music or anything, though) I thought resynchronising in Samsung Health would do it but it only took the new data from the S3 and didn't send back the S2 data from before.
I also tried doing a backup and restore and backed up the S2 content but it won't let me restore to the S3.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

If you were synchronising the data in Samsung Health then it should have been keeping it in there when you were using the S2. It stores all that in your Samsung Health history.
But there's no way to "copy" the old S2 data onto your S3.

Thanks for the reply, I have it all synchronised with the phone but I wanted to get it on the watch, too. Is there a way to restore to another S2 (or S3)? I mean, if you replace the watch, what happens then? Why would you backup at all unless you were going to wipe it and restore again?

How to preserve gear 2 backup when flashing different roms

So before I flash a rom I backup my gear watch via gear manager, however everytime I go back into gear manager, after flashing a new rom, and I repair the device and it pairs, then forces me to reset my watch. After I do and go to restore/backup, my backup doesn't appear. Anyway to keep my gear properly backed up? Thanks

Does no one flash different roms that has a gear 2?
I flash Roms fairly often on my Note 3 (mostly for upgrades, or to try to remove weird problems), but I haven't come across a decent way to back up my Gear 2. I just roll with it, and when I get my watch re-paired, I go into Sammy Apps under the Purchased section, and reload my apps through that. It functions like an 'all apps ever installed' list, which saves a little time. I haven't had luck with TiBu or similar services - the phone says the apps will be installed, but they won't be on the watch. Wish I had a better answer for you.
Thanks

Damn if only there was a titanium backup for the gear

Restore Gear S2 from Gear Manager does not restore everything

Hi,
I need to connect my gear S2 on one phone and then switch to another quite often. This is not nice but reseting the Gear S2 and doing a restore works ... almost. Some of the state of the watch is not restored correctly. By example the widgets and the target number of steps is not restored. It keeps the factory default. Besides although all apps are restored their configuration is not alway. The current number of steps is also not restored.
Is there a means of doing a 100% backup/restore? Has anybody experienced the same problem?
Any hints would be appreciated

How to restore Gear manager with connection to Gear S2 intact after a factory reset?

Hi folks,
This has been bothering me for months now. I frequently change ROMs on my Note 4 and also factory reset my phone, wiping the data partition.
While I do Titanium backup of all the apps with data, including the gear manager app with its services gear plugin, samsung accessory service, SAsystemproviders, and restore them after factory reset with the data, I still need to reset my Gear S2 to be able to connect to gear manager and hence lose most data and settings on my gear s2 - which for me is importantly s-health data.
So I have the following questions:
Am I missing something here during my backup?
How to ensure that gear manager sees gear s2 the same way it did before factory reset and connect with it without a reset
And is there any way atleast I can sync my gear s2 data to s-health online without having to rely on gear manager??
Thanks
On first point that's a security feature. You wouldn't want your watch to sync up with a third party's phone which is what it thinks your newly flashed phone is until you pair it. On the second point not sure

New phone (or. full wiping phone)

Hello,
I want to switch to a new ROM, but I know that I have to reset my Gear S3 before I can connect my watch to the "new" phone.
Is there any way to connect the watch to a new phone without resetting it? Or can you put all the data back on the clock (all my steps, stairs, calories etc.)?
Thanks in advance.
I changed my smartphone a few days ago. The change made a reset of the Gear S3. I saved all data with the app on the old smartphone, but i forgot to open Samsung Health before the reset. Samsung Health syncs the data from the Gear S3 only, when you open the app. Next time i will open Samsung Health before i make a reset. The restore of my data was sucessful.

But your data are just restored inside the app, correct?
Not in the gear S3?

The data for the Gear S3 (all the settings) are restored into the Gear S3. The fitness data from Samsung Health are not restored back to the Gear S3. I see them only in the app on the smartphone.

Oh, that's sad.
This is exactly what I want... All fitness data back on my gear.
Where do I find the backup file for copying it to my "new" phone?
Thanks anyway for your report.

Samsung Health synced the data with my Samsung account. This was automaticaly - i enabled data sync on the Samsung account on my smartphone (old and new). I have no info about files and storage places.
But none of the watch faces were saved right?

Question Deleted Galaxy Wear App on Phone - Anyway to save data on watch

GM all. I had been having trouble with my GW4 LTE (non-classic) not recognizing my home WiFi password, when it had been for many months. I have a Note 20 5G and I'm on the Android 12 Beta. So I wrote to the Beta community and he said to delete the Gear Wear an on the watch, reinstall from the Play Store, and I mistook it for saying to remove it on the phone. Now, when I try to reconnect with the GW4, it says it will delete everything and pair as a new phone/watch. The auto backup unfortunately DID NOT save ANY backups. I have a ton of watch faces that I bought (I know I should be able tor reinstall from Play Store), some watch faces that I created (I may be able to get back), but other data that I know will be lost.
Anybody know of a way to re-connect but preserve the data. There are ways to do it with Wear OS 2, but NOT Wear OS 3. My Tizen watches were not affected and I was able to save all my Samsung Health data to my GW3. Any help, thoughts, would be greatly appreciated.
hello, yes that would be good. i reinstalled wear plugin and wear app due to latest bug on plugin app now cant connect same phone to watch. it stuck at 80-90% during setup. Dont wanna reset the watch before getting my data. No solution?
I finally gave up and reset the watch and paired it again. All is well now. This time did an immediate backup after I tweaked everything I wanted. I will try to now remember to back up at least once a week. Happy Holidays everyone!
It all has to do with the "Galaxy Watch4 Plugin". If you're having any issues syncing between phone and watch. If you end up having to reinstall it then you'll have to reset your watch too. Make sure you backup!
