PodTube is a simple application which interacts with YouTube and has the following features:

The main purpose of PodTube is to allow you to automatically download videos from your favorite channels at a specified time, so you can watch them later, when you don't have access to WiFi, or internet altogether.

Troubleshooting:
How can I get video/playlist/channel ID so I can use them in PodTube?
You need to open the official YouTube app, navigate to the video or channel you want, then click on the sharing arrow, or the three dots, select COPY LINK and paste it into the ID field in PodTube. If you don't see a COPY LINK option for the playlists, select one of the offered text apps, which will paste the link into them, and then copy it from there. (I will look into direct integration into the share menu in the future versions of PodTube so you won't have to copy it like this).
I am unable to download onto a removable SD card
Newer versions of Android (KitKat and later I think) won't let apps write onto the removable SD with standard permissions, however Android will allow the app to write into a directory it owns on the removable SD, which for PodTube is located in sdcardroot/Android/media/com.shadoapps.podtube. If you press Autodetect safe media directory button it will be selected for you (unless you are out of free space). You should have no problem however, with selecting and writing into any directory in the built in storage.
I have a problem with playing the downloaded files
YouTube serves videos in several formats. Downloaded video files will usually come in an mp4 format and audio files in a wav format (unless you select the lowest quality). In order to play them, your player app has to support these formats. If you can't open the downloaded files in the player you use, try one, which supports the format you are trying to play. Personally, I use the VLC player (free in the app store) which can play anything that YouTube serves.
I cannot select the specific quality for downloaded videos, or specify detailed download options
PodTube is not intended to be a full fledged YouTube downloader, it is a podcast maker, which simply grabs the highest quality streams available (or lowest if you want to save data and select that option)
How can I trigger the podcast downloads automatically at given intervals?
I recommend you use Tasker for this. Click on the Tasker icon inside PodTube for more info.
The download link contains several APKs, which one do I use?
The one that matches your phone's architecture. If you don't know what that is, then install the com.shadoapps.podtube.apk, which is universal.
If I install a new version of PodTube over the old one, will I lose all my settings?
No.
If I remove some of the downloaded videos, will PodTube download them again, during the next sync?
No. PodTube saves the list of IDs for videos it downloaded, and won't download them again. If you wish to download the removed videos again, then go to channel edit, and purge all channel data.

Ok i have used the app a lot but i dont like one thing that it is in a weird wav format and to listen to them i have to use a wav to mp3 app and it takes 10 mins per 8min wav file do you think you could make the app use a mp3 or a useable format instead of tbe wav formt on the app let me know if you can

The app doesn't get to pick in which format it gets in the stream. Most youtube videos provide only a wav stream for high quality audio. It actually checks if there is a mp3 stream available, but if there isn't, and there usually isn't, it picks the best one, which is usually the wav.
Try using a player which has no problem with playing wav files such as the free VLC for android.

I have been testing it for a couple of months now, on 2 devices - phone and tablet -, in parallel with the official YouTube and YouTube downloader.
I am very impressed! And thank you for making it adfree.
A few observations:
* SnapTube listens to all requests for web access. This is very annoying, as I keep getting prompted whether I want to open Chrome or SnapTube everytime an application launches a weblink. This needs to be more tightly controlled and restricted.
* Is there anyway to download videos in higher res than 720p (YTD can do it)?
* Does it automatically skip YouTube adverts (I do not know since I use xposed YouTube AdAway module)?
I love this app!!! I have only one question... why is not possible to change the download directory?? it would be a great new feature!!!

App is really awesome, exactly what I was looking for.
I just want that I can specify which path on SD card to download.
Other than that marvelous job, keep up.
Almost perfect, the two only things I didn't like about it are that it's always running in background and it always appears like and option to open a web link with my browser, even when isn't a YouTube URL, just a normal website link. But in general it's awesome.
Very fast but no 1080p selection but 720p is OK though you can get 1080p on tubemate.. I like this one (fast).. Planet Earth is 1080p

1. First of all, visit the video page on Facebook and check the URL of the video. Let us have an example:

2. Now what you need to do is change above URL to the mobile version URL. All you need to do is switch “www” with “m” as shown below: For Example

3. Here on this page, play video and watch it for 5-10 second and, then pause the video. (If possible, view full video)
4. Make a right click on the video, and you will get the option “Save video as” just click on it.

This is the only Facebook trick which works 100%. So if you don’t have time for downloading extension and software give a try to this.

Also, whatever file you want to see/download off any website, copy/paste the URL into file2hd.com, and it will show every file on the website, and let you download them if wanted. Also good for searching for malware etc.

There's a userscript -- called: switch to mobile version on facebook video page -- that will automatically redirect facebook video pages to the mobile version. Then you can watch the vid in HTML5, or go ahead and download it.
You'll need (Firefox) Greasemonkey, (Chrome) Tampermonkey, or other equivalents to run the script.

Works in CM14.1, Moto G 2014. It would be nice to have an option to store to the external SD card with DocumentProvider storage.
I am able to store to the external SD card if I create an app folder like "/storage/SD_CARD_FOLDER/Android/data/com.randomapp.blah", however, I would prefer to just store to a custom folder.

I was panning this feature but since the app hasn't become much popular, I'm not sure if I can afford to work on it.
BTW, you can download audio by selecting the m4a format in YouTube. Some other sites should work too, like SoundCloud.

OHMYGOD! You Sir royale1223, are a gentleman and a scholar! Thank you so much for making this. While there are so many youtube downloaders out there, youtube-dl is the best because of how many hundreds of sites it supports.
I would love to see this app developed further and would gladly donate for this purpose.
Some suggestions for the Avidd app:
1. Keep the last search stored in cache in case someone wants to download multiple formats (so it doesn't have to search for formats for each attempt). Even better, allow selection of multiple formats when downloading.
2. If I understand correctly, this app runs youtube-dl in the background and theoretically should support all the command line switches that youtube-dl supports. In that case, please also allow the option for advanced users to enter the command line code the way they would enter it on a computer. This way we can customize playlist downloads, automatic numbering, naming format etc.
3. One amazing feature in the youtube-dl program on PC is how it can automatically use ffmpeg to mix the best audio and best video files. I don't know if ffmpeg runs on android (or even if it is needed) but the ability to download bestaudio+bestvideo combination and automatically mixing it would be amazing.

Once u download the VPN on android from playstore select Vietnam as country and speed should be better with stable connections.
Note: Works on Android not sure about pc. Unlimited Free VPN app is available on playstore.
If anyone knows a VPN service with Vietnaam as country option then it should'nt be a problem on pc too.

tried to change the download folder , to a folder on a memory card.
First when I create a new folder on it I got the message Create New Folder Error and after i made on an other way the Folder and choose this map the next message
Can Not choose this as a default folder

when I try download the LOSSLESS type, the size is only 357 B which is weird and when I download it, it sayd download completed yet it's not in my music library. I can't seem to locate in my File Manager too. All songs that I try to download are like this
It's not working anymore can't download lossless music.

This also happens to me, but as I m new to this FLAC music codec I thought that maybe my devices didnt support it (I'm desperately looking for a flac song so I can try it by myself) I highly suspect that my devices are not compatible, Does yours are? 100% sure? Bc Im receiving this same 357 B error. (I can locate the files with my file manager but they'd present an error anytime I try to play them)

I have same problem too. I can't download any lossless file. Firstly it was the 357 B file. I think they maybe joking. When I try downloading via web, the permission is denied. Now the lossless option is gone either in app or the web. I think it's not the app related problem, but server problem. Or they planning to make sorta premium subscription for enjoying lossless music. idk.
I don't know how to contact them, and also don't speak Vietnamese.
Streaming and downloading in lower quality work just fine.
Maybe someone can help reach the developer?

Why I cant download lossless? it doesnt show on the download .. only 320kbs is the highest i can download as of now
Can't download Flac format files
Hey... First of all thanks for developing such an awesome app, I have been using it for months now and it's really good. But the only disappointment I have with this app is I'm not able to download Flac files even though it is available. I'm able to stream the song on Flac but when I click to download the max it shows is 320kbps. And I'm sure my download settings is "highest". Why is that??

(First time only) Turn on Unknown sources, this step enables you to install apps out of Google Play.After click OK to turn on Unknown sources, you could move to Downloads. Then you can click the downloaded InsTube apk to install.

InsTube is not available on the Google Play Store, because downloading Youtube video violates the terms of Google Play. You can get it from uptodown or our offical website.

Instube is one of the best youtube downloader, with user-friendly interface, easy downloading unlike others. You will not receive irritating notifications like Vidmate.

Borderline ad intrusion, but it works and works very well so far. Ability to pick mp3. This is important for sd card play in my car. A lot quicker to move your purchased music collection to different format from your phone instead of burning cd's... especially the ones that are damaged. I would consider a purchase if it'll remove the ads completely.
