problem with installing original firmware on tab 2 10.1 - General Questions and Answers

Hi guys.
I have a problem with my galaxy tab 2 10.1
When I open it it is stuck at the initial logo "SAMSUNG" and the device continue with the loading without opening it.
In order to solve the problem I tried to reinstall the original firmware but when I use ODIN, at 47% of the installation the is a message error;
Complete(Write) operation failed.
<OSM> All threads completed. ( succeed 0 / failed 1)
So the operation fails.
I don't know how to solve the problem.
Can someone help me?
Thanks in advance.

When it fails, don't close ODIN. Switch the USB port, mount the PDA, flash again, fails, change port again, retry. Keep trying and it will flash. Just don't close odin. Seems to be odin bug with some devices.
Also re-re-check if you have the correct drivers.

Thanks for the answer.
So, basically I have to start odin and the flash, then wait, when it fails I have to mount again the PIT and the PDA and start again in another usb port?

[Q] having serious problems with note 2..please help!!

hey guys..
i bought a buddies note 2 last night, and he had some weird rom on it. i formatted the hard drive, and attempted to install a new rom using odin.
i received a couple error messages in odin. first i got:
first i got: Can't open the serial(COM) port.
then i got: <ID:0/003> Complete(Write) operation failed.
a quick google searche attributed those to kies running in the background, so i closed keys, and ended all related processes.
i restarted odin and tried again, but got "Can't open the serial(COM) port." message again.
some answers i found on google were to restart the phone and restart odin. i restarted my phone. only now, it looks like the phone is bricked with the following error message: "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recover mode in Kies & try again.
I loaded up Kies, but the phone is not being detected by my computer, and it just hangs on "Connecting"
I tried switching the cable into another USB port, and the computer DID detect the phone momentarily, but only for that split second. Kies just tried to connect again, but remained in "Connecting", and then ultimately failed, recommending i reboot my device.
am i ****ed here? what can i do?
update...the phone will actually go into download mode every few times i restart it.
however, it will not be detected by my computer, although odin does detect it.
unkped some
bump?

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S3 Bootloop, No Recovery

I've read more threads than I can count to find an answer to my problem, but none have fit quite right.
I have a rooted Samsung Galaxy s3, U.S. Sprint L710. This is a secondary phone I use to test new roms and other mods. The last working rom I had was the Kitkat Carbon. I tried flashing Xenon and ended up in a continuous bootloop. I can get it into download mode, but I can't get to recovery. I've tried using Kies, uninstalled that and tried a jtag bit. Neither worked. I downloaded the latest USB driver from Samsung and Odin, but I can't install the driver because Odin doesn't detect that my Galaxy is connected to my laptop (Windows 8). The first box on Odin doesn't light up to indicate that my phone is recognized.
When I plug my phone in, Windows seems to recognize something is connected, because I get the little Windows chime. But it doesn't show up as an external device anywhere. So that's where I'm at. It goes into bootloop as far as the Samsung logo, or I can get it into download mode where it just says "Downloading" until I pull the battery. I keep looking on line hoping to find a unique way out of my predicament, but it just ends in frustration.
Am I just out of options besides sending it into Sammy for $72? Is there anything else anyone can suggest? Thank you in advance.

Try booting into ClockworkMod recovery and factory restoring from there.
Post thanky?
Thanks, but I have no way of getting to recovery. If I could, I'd know just what to do. I've tried smacking the power button side incase it was a stuck power button, but that did nothing.
You are prolly reading the wrong stuff...
- Download Odin (pc app),
- Get your Stock Rom.
- Boot your device in Download Mode;
- Open Odin; load your rom files in the correct place.
- Make sure you didnt change any checkboxes.
I.e:
"Clear EFS" must NOT be enabled. (Also keep in mind that you must backup your EFS partition before your phone loses imei).
- Flash the Rom.
- After completion (Green "Pass" message in Odin); remove USB Cable;
Now more stuff you must learn: search for CWM for your device; search how to install it; and also search how to perform a clean install.
Also Read how to backup your efs (before its too late).
Press thank button if i helped you.
This will keep me motivated to help and share my knowledge.

Thanks for all of that advice. I have CWM installed, and I have nandroid backups on my SD card. The problem is Odin doesn't seem to detect that my phone is connected. When I plug my working S3 in, it shows up in the first com 1 box, but nothing shows up when I plug my down phone in. I have it in download mode, but Odin doesn't detect it.
When I hit start and run Odin, it confirms a valid tar file, but it shows 0 successful / 0 unsuccessful tasks when it finishes. If this was a hard brick, I'd just give up, but I keep believing there must be a way to get it into CWM recovery. It's just so odd that it will go into download mode but not trigger a response from Odin.
This is as much of an interesting mission of mine as it is a desire to get my phone up and running. Thanks again!
if you able to connect to odin, the problem can be solved.
manually install different versions of drivers, different pc, and check if odin detect it.
good luck
Well this got more interesting. I downloaded Odin 1.85 on a different laptop, and I got a response. It shows it's connected with a yellow box in the first com box and in the "activity" box below. When I disconnect it, it shows that too, so that's encouraging! When I plug the USB tar file into the PDA field and hit Start, it confirms that it's a valid file and it starts to download, but then it fails. I tried it a few times, but the result is the same. There's a hint of a download bar beginning on my phone, but that's it.
At this point, I wonder if I have the right USB file. When I try to download the USB from the Samsung site, I don't get a tar file that Odin it looking for. I downloaded the one I have from one of the countless sites I checked. The USB file I'm using is 1.4 gigs. Does that sound like the right size for a stock USB file? Almost every time I click on a link for a USB file, it has me at a downloading program where it takes 5 hours to download for free or an option for a faster download if I spend money. That sounds like a scam.
If anyone has a valid link for the correct Samsung Galaxy S3 SPH-L710 USB driver, I'd really appreciate it. Any other advice? Thank you for everything so far!
Well... Original drivers and Roms...
Check on Sammobile website.
Theres something there that can help you.
You can also compare rom file sizes.
Glad you're going on the right track

Heimdall might be another alternative if you can't get ODIN working. At least my version for S2 fond the right driver automatically.
I'd like to stay on this track until I try a few more things at least. Sammobile is where I downloaded my first file from. I went back and downloaded a different one for the Galaxy S3, but it still fails. I'm pasting the information in the dialogue box from Odin.

I don't know if this will be useful information to anyone trying to help me, but there you go. The file [ALL_L710VPUCMK3_L710SPRCMK3_2034598_REV03_user_low_ship.tar.md5] is what I plug into the PDA field of Odin. As far as I know, I don't have to enter any other files.
Thanks!
Good Grief!! Sometimes I over-complicate and over-think things so much. I tried a different cord, and it worked like a charm! Thanks to everyone who chimed in to help. You were part of my learning process. Now I can say I successfully used Odin to salvage a soft brick! :good:

Flash Write Fail - what next?

I inherited a bricked AT&T Skyrocket and was very happy when I managed to get it into download mode by accident. But it didn't last long. Both Kies (2.6) and Odin (1.85) recognize the phone but fail to write to it. BTW, I used k0nane's thread file for the Odin flash. CWM failed to flash as well. Also, I tried different cables and different USB ports.
I have no idea how the original brick happened and I cannot do a hard reset. Besides the download mode, all I get is the Samsung logo or the battery charging.
I read somewhere that the next step should be a .pit file and a Nand re-partition but I can't find that thread again.
PS. Never mind the celox.pit approach. While I was able to Odin it, the ROM write failed after it.
Anybody got a link or some suggestion on what I can try next?

Screwed something up, HELP needed please

Howdy,
I've screwed up with installing a custom rom over another custom.
Now I'm getting an error:
Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies & try again.

In my computer im using windows 10 pro, and adb device is not regonized.
What I neeed to do to get pasted that error?
Thanks for the help!
There is nothing to worry.
It is easy to solve this.
Just download Odin in your pc.
Download the official firmware if your device here.
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/GT-P5100/
Now open Odin In pc
Connect your device to the pc .
Now in the app under PDA browse for the firmware you have downloaded and click start.
Wait till it says pass.
That's it you have successfully solved your problem.
Now it will take some time to boot.
In case you feel that you are in a bootloop just go to recovery and perform a factory reset .

Greetings;
I don't know if you already entered Download Mode...
Most problems accessing Recovery and Download Modes are due to having the USB Cable connected.
Remove the cable; press the key combination; and it will boot.
(Except if there's some incompatible ROM flashed by mistake).
After that plug the USB Cable again (if your USB Drivers have also installed for Download Mode) Odin will recognize it (like shown in your Screen Shot).
REMEMBER:
While Flashing do NOT Remove USB Cable, untill Odin Displays "Pass" message.
Further issues: Let us know. We're would be Glad to help.
