Porting Z5 camera app and settings to Xperia M5 - Xperia Z5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone,i would like to know if there is a way for me to port the camera app with its settings etc from my Xperia Z5 onto a friends Xperia M5. Both phones have a 23mp camera and its the settings etc that are available to set the camera on my Z5 that we want to install on my friends M5 so that he can better set up his camera for taking photos with.
Does anyone here maybe know how we can go about doing this? Both our phones are not rooted either so i hope there is a way to do it without having to root first. Thanks in advance and i apologise if this sort of thing has been brought up before somewhere and i just didnt see it.

Camera problem in Xperia X10

Hi. I like my X10 very much, especially after I debranded it to get the Android Market icon; many thanks to Lollylost100 and others who made the tutorial. Only free apps show, but there is plenty!
After debranding, I checked the phone functionality and everything has worked beautifully plus faster if I am not imagining things .
However recently, activating the camera by icon or button causes the phone to re-start. I don't know what would cause this, is it an application that I installed that is interfering with the camera or something else? Anyone has seen this kind of problem? Can't use the 8MP camera for now!!
Thanks for any help.
I guess I posted this in the wrong forum! Sorry. I'll post it again in the Xperia X10 forum

[Q] Can we Mod our camera into Superior Auto?

[Q] Help with camera

I put on Xperia Noz on my phone (C1505 single sim ) Everything is working great ,but the camera does not take panoramic pictures It just stops working ..I like to have it working and i like to tank anyone that can help me in advanced
If you made a backup of (or can find another's backup of) the Stock rom for your phone, you should be able to extract the Camera.apk (sometimes called LegacyCamera.apk, depends on your Android versions/Device it seems) and install that on your phone, just as you would any other apk off of an sd card.

You could try downloading some alternative cam apps in play store, like focal or ics camera. But I could not work

Generally, not all custom rom camera apps support the panaroma feature. If it is bothering you and you really want to take panaroma pictures, I suggest you use a third party app. Hope this helps!
Many Thanks
I hit the thanks button on all you guys that gave me some good advice thank you very much ..I will follow it ..........
I love my Xperia Noz

is your x-reality/super vivid mode really working?

Hi, newb here...
i just wanna confirm if your x-reality/super vivid mode is really working because i can't really see any difference when i turn it on (or maybe its just me) which made me question the functionality of the image processor of my phone and the image enhancement..
i used the screenshot method to compare the super vivid mode/x-reality turned on vs turned off using that and again i can't really see much of a difference.
i think the camera app mod i'm using has nothing to do with the image preview quality since the preview itself doesn't satisfy me the quality its previewing... the previous owner of this phone wasn't able to backup the TA partition so i got no idea what the original version should look like but i owned an xperia ray before so i know what to expect when the x-reality engine is turned on.
i'm using rooted z5 e6653 with this rom and kernel in the link:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z5/general/ftf-e66xx-patched-kernels-google-drive-t3688365
camera:

THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR FEEDBACKS...
Most of all, if the previous owner unlocked the bootloader without backing up (and reflashing) the TA partition, the DRM keys are gone. X-reality is one of the DRM-ed things, I believe.
Other than that, are you using the original Album app? If you're using a third-party camera app, it may not show.
Also, do you give the photo a while to 'load'? Nougat made the loading time atrocious, to the point that when you normally watch the pics, you don't see the X-reality. The latest update helped a bit, but it still takes good 15 seconds to load the enhancements.
To check, I recommend using a photo with blue sky. Ever since Xperia Z, blue was the most affected color. by BRAVIA/X-reality Somehow, it really cranks it up, to the point that it may be on par with Samsung's OLEDs. You will definitely notice the change, if there is any. If not, you're out of luck.

Hi, thanks for this, i wasn't able to consider using the original album app. It did work using the Album app. Now i'm a bit dissapointed to know that the phone's enhancement engine is working fine and that the results aren't tjat good compared to other phones nowadays. But i still love sony especially because of the OIS and the HiRes audio.
Thanks Again. ?

GCAM

Who has the device and has sideloaded gcam yet ? Really thinking about getting the phone and am coming from a pixel 4xl and really enjoy the point and click of the pixel. Want to see if GCAM is a viable option on the Sony Xperia 5 ii.
Thanks
I am also very close to purchasing this and would also like to know if this is possible.

The MGC here works, but you may need to tweak settings for best results, and it only works with the main and selfie cameras.
Surprisingly, the stock app for the camera is very good on 5 II.. The question is, is gcam needed for 5 II, sony did a great job with the camera and the camera software this year.
The stock app is indeed surprisingly capable, but managing highlights is still one of the weak points with Sony. The 5 II is probably the best phone Sony has made in years so it would be great to see GCam support for it. Any chance of this @Arnova8G2 @Urnyx05?

I think you hit it on the head honestly. The testing I have been doing with the camera seems to be that Sony is okay with highlights in photos, similarly to Apple but Apple does still a little better than Sony does.
There are definitely benefits I have seen from the highlights though, portrait photos of a person with good lighting look exceptional on the mark II even with indoor lighting. My first 2 days with this phone have been a pleasure because it almost makes me feel like this phone is built like a Nexus device was back in the good old days, with minor Sony embellishments.
Looking forward to progress here in this!
@Urnyx05
Checked your thread for what you need for a bug report, so I've tried include all that you need incase you are interested in getting your GCam up and running on the Xperia 5 II.
Phone: Xperia 5 II, stock rom, no fixes
APK: GCam_7.3.018_Urnyx05-v2.3.apk
Camera2 Test and logcat attached of the crash.
The app crashes the moment you start it (after you've given it all the permissions), but you can also hear the camera activating.
Please bring gcam to our device, Urnyx05
Came here from the Xperia 1 II thread. Yes, the Xperia 5 II is one of the Android flagship this year. Stable gcam support will elevate the popularity of this device more, Sony get more sales and they have more money to develop next gen Xperia.

Eh, what? There aren't any properly working GCam versions for the phone yet.
The only ones that work are one older GCam and the Go version. Yes, stock apps give better pictures than those but I'm not counting those as proper GCam ports.
I find a webpage of GCam for Xperia 5 II. https://www.cyanogenmods.org/google-camera-xperia-5-ii/
I tried it but all crashed, maybe because my phone is China Edition. You can try it.

Eh, seems like some autogenerated ****. "Gcam for *automatically insert phone model here*". To be ignored.
This are not Versions for the Xperia. Bad Link.
Android 11 and GCAM
It might actually help when sony releases Android 11 for both the mark 5 ii and the mark 1 ii phone. It's might make the current GCAM apks and config files more compatible.
Are you running this version?

On my 5-2 this GCam is semi-working. It takes photo on 16 and 70 mm module. Sometimes you can enter the menu using the button LIB from the tenth time.
(If the image from the camera is visible and falls out, move the slider to the video and choose a different camera).
Perhaps someone can make this version work and run the main photo module (it works in the video).

I cant Open it.... Force Close everytime
@Subbb I've managed to snap a photo with the ultra wide and tele yes, the photos are very grainy though.
It's weird because Google Camera Go works only with the 24mm lens.
@chilled_orange13 my trick was to open the app, quickly swipe to video then change the lens using the upper settings menu. Pressing the setting icon or lib icon makes the app crash. Changing lens crashes the app but when you open it again it launches on the selected lens.
