MTCD unit, a question about which ROM's I can use.

I have a MTCD unit from Erisin, info in attached pic.
I see threads like this one Factory firmware for RK3188 MTCD
with links to firmware, can I use these?
How do I identify which firmwares I can use.
What do the letters after the MTCD mean in the MCU version, my letters are "LM"

I was told you can flash any mtcd firmware, just don't flash the MCU if it's not for your version. But I haven't dare try it yet.

Do not use the ROM from here.. that is not mtcD head unit

MCU and PX3/5 are two different systems. You can only use MX MCU with the MCU, but you can flash the PX3 board with any ROM you like provided it's for your resolution and you have enough RAM, especially for ROMs based on Android 7/8. As far as I'm aware only upgrade to Android 7 if your PX3 has 2GB of RAM and Android 8 is only for PX5 units.
Plenty of custom ROMs for PX3 such as the Hal9k and Malaysk. Or you can always flash a PX3 ROM from another manufacturer, results may vary though.

Well. the model is PX3 meaning if I'm correct 4 cors, PX5 has 8? Sth like that. And the MCU version is MTCD_MX_xxxx. So From what U wrote, I can safely update that MX which came from PX5 modles?
Another one - If I use any custom ROM, does it also updates the MCU version? Or that is separate stuff?

PX3 is 4 core, PX5 is 8 core.
PX3 comes with either 1GB or 2GB of RAM. 5.1.1 runs fine with only 1GB of RAM. 7.1 should have at least 2GB of RAM.
PX5 comes with either 2GB or 4GB of RAM. They have been only 6.0 but 8.0 is now out for them, 2GB of RAM should be enough for 8.0.
MCU is a separate update file to the ROM. The ROM contains Android and the UI you see. The MCU is specific to the board in your radio and requires the correct file such as KGL, GS, MX. Some are interchangeable but it is strongly advised against using other MCUs unless you already have an issue with your current one that isn't resolved by the latest version.

PX5 MTCD_LM newest Stock Firmware

i have the Stock-firmware " px5-userdebug 6.0.1 MXC89L user.hct.20170322.111705 test-keys" on my device...
Could anyone provide me a download link to this firmware ? It could be a newer than 20170322 but it has to be for the MTCD_LM mcu.

You can use every PX5 Firmware with supporting Resolution 1024x600 (Firmware = Android OS Image). A good place for FW-Download: https://yadi.sk/d/umCvHqCDzHccr/RockChip PX5.
But be carefully:
1. Install only the dupdate.img file which located in the zip-file. Its for Firmware Update.
2. Install only dmcu.img files, which are specific for your LM-MCU Device! It depend of the HU-Modell/Vendor of the HU-Mainboard that you have. Otherwise you can brick your device.
MCU_LM 2.41_1 and MCU_LM 2.41_2 are currently the newest one for PX3/PX5/Sofia - "LM"-Devices

No, not newer or better. It is only for a other (HW-) variant. Please avoid of installing -2 on -1 LM Devises. It can be become strange effects.

the dmcu.img Yes! MCU is for all LM MTCD Board's
Rom it's only for Sofia3gr MTCD (notJoying) !!!

No. KGL is only used by Erisin too. But it is not the same and AFAIK there is no compatibility between LM and KGL.. So don't flash a LM mcu Update on a KGL Head unit.
Btw. Im looking for the Stock Firmware from LM to have the launcher from this.. Could someone provide the link of the latest stock firmware coming with the LM mcu? Would be really nice. I can't find any LM firmware xD

Hi guys, I just got a PX5 unit, is an erisin with mcu lm and with android 6.0 on board, I wanted to update / change rom, can I install a rom kgl, or any 6.0 rom?

Refer to cross compatibility thread in my signature. MCUs are largely cross-compatible as are Android firmware. This topic has been thoroughly discussed and the reason malaysk firmware exists; guessing doesnt help anyone.

LM MCU is not cross compatible to any other vendor. (did find out the hard way)

Perhaps the message issue is related to the malaysk firmware. Use latest HA or vendor of your choice, aslong as approximate to mcu date.

Hi, as i see on the image this is older version MTCD_LM_v1.63, i have requested for New update from the seller and i received an dupdate.img in a folder named "DU 高清屏通用APP20170221+MCU V2.22+APK", inside is older version than mine from factory "MTCD_LM_V2.44_1", I'v downloaded the one from here "MTCD_LM_V2.52_1" and inside the folder is a ZIP file "update.zip" and "dmcu.img", how to update with those files? check uploaded image #2.

Do not update to android 10. There is no real advantage, and you will just risk problems for nothing.

A backup of MCU, how.

@marchnz no clue I thought it should be possible to do some kind of backup copy...
Any other solution? Should i give HA a try?
EDIT: Background, I want to update from Android 9 to Android 10 and install Hal9k. But what I did was to downgrade my V3.30_a1 to V2.94... Don't ask me why I thought it is higher that my previous version

If everything works for you, then I do not recommend crossing the MCU. Try to write to the seller, maybe your update will send you. You can find everything about Crossing MCUs here, if you don't find a suitable type of MCU, then you can lose more than you gain. I recommend using the search engine and you will find a few HZC users:
