Factory reset watch - can't copy Google account over - Huawei Watch 2

I was having some issues lately with Google Assistant not working on the watch along with any other app that needed a internet connection. out of the blue. So, I decided to factory reset the watch.
During the initial setup it asks me to copy over my google account to the watch, however, it fails. No matter how many times I factory reset the watch, forget the BT pairing, remove and reinstall Android Wear. I can't get past the setup part where it asks me to copy over my G Account. I get an error message on the phone stating that to check to make sure I have a valid internet connection (or something to that effect).
Does anyone have any idea why this would be happening? I think the Google Assistant failing and the inability to copy over the G Account might all be related at this point...

Crickets.... Lol

Try to go to the settings on ur phone and click google, sign in and security ,recently used devices and delete every device you are not using anymore including the watch.

I think it's now an issue with my Pixel XL Bluetooth instead of the watch. Once the watch was on my home WiFi network, on a whim, I decided to try and copy the accounts over and it worked. So there seems to be some sort of issue with the Phone to Watch BT connection.

I have the same issue can't synch my google account, it just annoying

did you disable BT on the phone or watch? I tried that and synching does not work for me I have to have BT enable on both devices to move on in the set up screen

No I didn't disable the B.T. connection. Once I was home, on my own WiFi I just went into the settings of my watch and went to connections and "forced" the WiFi to turn on for the Watch. Then I started the Google Account setup and it worked.
But that's it. I still can't use Google Assistant on the watch, Nest, Maps, etc..etc... unless I have a WiFi connection to the watch.
It's definitely the Google Pixel XL B.T. issue

mmm Im at home and that didnt worked for me, I have a mate 9 AL00, dont think is related to your phone BT but more likely the Huawei watch BT or something

The more I investigate, the more I think it's an issue with the BT on the Phone. My phone won't "auto connect" to any of my car stereos (my 6P did just fine), I have to manually initiate the connection on my phone by diving into the BT settings and selecting whichever car stereo I happen to be using at the time. Once it connects, Pandora won't work with the "pandora app" on the car stereo, it will only play with the "BT Audio" setting on the head unit and it disconnects from the watch.

latest Android watch update fixed my synching issue

[Q]HELP - Gmail & Play Store Not syncing :(

Hello. So gmail and the play store stopped syncing over LTE and HSPA randomly this morning.
I restored a backup from 5/9 earlier today and no luck - same issue persists.
I am on the stock rom, with root. No busybox or other mods like xposed. Twrp recovery.
Any suggestions? Syncs over wifi just fine, but not on Tmobile's lte or hspa even with full service. Other people in my office are not having this issue with their android devices and are also tmobile users.
Thanks in advance!!

Interesting. Can anyone else comment?
i had it happen to me, for about 90 minutes. i had data, everything else worked. a few minutes ago i connected to wifi, and it started working. i went off wifi back to mobile, and it stayed working. i think it was purely a google issue

it seems that my "fix" of connecting to wifi, check if working, then going back to network works for others as well.

Hmm i cant get that fix to work. Its like as soon as Im off wifi, gmail and the store dont sync.
I can get drive to sync over data tho.
Odd problem.
I'm on tmobile also and am currently having this same issue. I am also noticing I'm having my data connection drop out quite frequently at the present time. Very strange.
^ I have seen that as well on my end.
Thanks to everyone who has replied so far. I guess it looks network related so far.

Same thing on Verizon on my Note 3. I can get into Gmail via my browser but the app is stuck in sync mode and I can't log into any Google accounts (Play Store, Google+, etc).
Same problem here in Va, DC, MD
Here in DC, VA, and MD. All services not working, maps, google play, viber. Only works on wifi. Tmobile seems to be down everywhere I've driven today. Internet works and gmail works from within the browser, but the apps just hang.
Google apps not working
I own a Nexus 5 not rooted. Randomly today all the major Google apps have stopped loading completely. It happened after I was talking on the phone.
I have a internet connection and all other non Google apps work.
Google will not sync. Maps won't load. Gmail won't load. Drive won't sync. I cleared cache. Cleared data. Reverted the updates. Restarted the phone.
Nothing is working.

How to delete saved wifi connection?

On my S5, all saved wifi connections were visible in the wifi settings page. On the S7, it seems that only the connections within range are visible. If you go into the data usage / restrict networks, every saved wifi connection is displayed, but there is no way to delete them from there. It seems that there is no way to delete a saved wifi connection once it goes out of range. Anyone know how to do this?

Exactly the same issue here. Anyone got any workarounds (non-root)? Third party apps don't seem to work. Pretty ridiculous that you can't forget a saved network and causes a serious issue for me: I have to change my password at work and can't forget the WiFi AP before getting to the office so I'm locked out of my work account...
It is a bit annoying but I can't see how it's a problem?
How are you locked out of your work account?
You can change password when you are in range.
What's the other issue?

The problematic are Hotel / Airport / etc. Hotspots...
When i received my S7 i "load" an backup from my old android phone... I few days earlier i returned from a long holiday trip and so the "restore-backup" created a lot of hotspots an my S7 i never never need and i'm not able to delete ....
(OK - i can start for a second trip, visit all places and delete hotspot when connected... ) <-- ironic

We use exchange authentication for WiFi at work. The phone automatically tries to connect using the old password as soon as i'm near the office. Does this three times and locks my ability to use the WiFi. This is before i have chance to see it and forget it in the WiFi settings. Such a simple omission in the UX makes this even an more annoying issue.
Yeah OK the work thing sounds a bit troublesome. I would turn off wifi before I go then turn it on when I'm ready and forget the network before it connects.
...
The holiday wifi hotspot thing i don't get still.
Why is that a problem? You can't see the networks anyway. Is it just an ocd thing?
well you have a drastic option, if nothing else works
go settings>backup and reset>reset network settings
this will erase all your wifi, as well as all bluetooth and data connections saved

The problem with the holiday Hotspots is at least not a real problem... But I don't like this.
I would prefer a function to delete Hotspots even when I'm not connected to them...
(maybe it is small security issue, because a common SSID can be used to connect with my phone...)
Wifi Manager - choose Known network, then remove.
I reported this to Samsung support. That's the only way to get them to fix it. The more people report it, the more likely they are to fix it sooner.
As for whether it's a "problem", I suppose it's not immediately a show stopper. However, after only a couple of weeks, I accumulated a lot of hotspots that clutter up the restrict networks page. Who knows, if too many build up it could cause an problem. There is no reason for Samsung to have implemented it in this way. I've never seen a device (mobile or pc) that did this.

Thanks, but Android 6 only allows you to forget those networks that you've connected to using the same app. So you can only forget those that you connected to with WiFi Manager, not the in-built settings.

Edit: you're correct. I think root and find where file or db that stores the SSID would be the next option.
Edit 2: Get a root editor, backup /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf, then edit it to either remove the entire SSID entry, or set autojoin to 0. There may be root apps that does this.
The plain text passwords are also stored in that supplicant file.
I don't think there is any non-root solution until Samsung changes the Wifi settings to show out-of-range SSIDs. I agree that it is silly for it to not do have this feature at all.
2 solutions so far (?)
Hi,
if you have a non rooted S7 there is no build in possibility to delete the saved wifi connections if you are out of range. Samsung has to fix this in my opinion.
With Marshmallow you can only delete wifi networks with the same app you created them, so third party apps like wifi manager do not work. So far there might be two solutions which work, both are far away from being perfect.
- First solution is to delete ALL network connections...and start from the beginning (1. Go to settings -> 2. Bakup and reset -> 3. Reset network settings -> 4. Follow on screen instructions)...including bluetooth etc.
- Second solution is not fine either. Take a third party app like wifi manager from Kostya on play store and list all known networks. Then set up a (fake) wifi access point with the SSID you want to delete. Once they are in range, you can delete the saved wifi connection. You have to repeat this for every SSID you want to delete.
Best regards,
Alexander

can not remove!
I updated my S7 today (with Sprint) to Android 7, and they fixed this. Out-of-range WiFi networks are listed under the "Manage Networks" options and can be removed from there.

Force Google wi-fi assistant to connect

Is there a way to make WiFi assistant connect to the VPN service? I frequently use an open WiFi network, but the VPN rarely connects, even with the manage saved networks option on.
i think youi can use dns66 app (not in play store) for that
with the new official oreo firmware just go into wifi setting, click vpn, click the gear next to wifi assistant, check the always on box. simple

Interesting. I literally have the same version on Android N and it never worked that way even though a lot of people speculated it would. Can you show a print screen of the persistent notification?
I do not currently have a VPN profile setup on this device but this is the notification I see. Shows disconnected cause I don't have one yet. Should work that way though.

Let me just tell everyone this, turning on the always on VPN switch does NOT do anything - it just leaves you with a notification of it being disconnected. It was intentionally disabled by Google to prevent auto-connecting and is only meant for application-related VPNs that are not from Google. VPNs cost money to use, and that's why they purposely disable you from doing that.

It does for the most part but if it does not know the wifi you are on it will ask your permission of they can use your data to secure it with I usually do. Thing is that on wifi that is password protected or the one at most Starbucks (that say Google WiFi but...idk) it does not work.

The VPN service doesn't always connect to unsecured wifi, its a weird system of how it connects that I don't understand yet but i guess it has a list of networks that it specifically does it on.

How to connect to WiFi network?!

hey guys, so I've been playing around with my new hw2 and I have noticed a somewhat issue,
the watch seems to be using my phones connection to wifi through bt, because I turn off watch's wifi and it still has internet connection, but when I turn off phone's(or watch's) bt, theres not internet on the watch any more
my home wifi network has wpa2 password and it is saved on my phone and also it shows up in saves networks list in the watch, but when I turn off watch's bt and turn wifi on, it wont connect to the network! what should I do if I dont want to use my phone and want to use the watch directly to connect to home wifi network?!
edit: when I tap the add network option, my home network wont show up! is it a defective unit?!!!
When you connect the watch to wifi, you should get the option to connect through phone to the wifi. When it connects, you should be good.
The problem is the network does not show up so I cant connect! It does not find it!
That is weird. It should show. If this persists, wipe the device. If you still have the issue then it may be a defective unit.
guys did you update to the latest version? if nobody else has this issue Im gonna send it for warranty...
also someone please tell me how long does it take for the gps to locate position without phone??
If you are using any app besides Google fit, less than 6-7 seconds. Google fit defaults to phone unless phone is not close out disconnected. In that case still 6-7 seconds.

Hi,
i have the 4G version.
when i'm going running (without mobile at all as i don't have mobile^^), watch ask me to activate position i not already tick in prefs, and i get GPS working under 10s, max 15s when outside.
Therefore, i haven't test on google maps, if i have time il will test and tell you.

Hi,
ok, i have install google maps on my Huawei watch 2. here are my results :
A > my watch (with simcard) is pair with a phone with no SIMcard at all. This phone have bluetooth OFF and wifi OFF . So phone is not connected to internet.
B > first test : with A and watch with no BT, no wifi and no data (SIM not activated) : google maps start, GPS icon is searching localisation but no maps is visible, about ten or 15 s, gps icon become a compass, so in my opinion, GPS find my location, but as i have no internet connection, google map cannot show the maps, so the screen is empty (i don't know if i can predownload map in watch in local)
C > second test : with A and watch without BT, without wifi but WITH data (SIM activated) : google map start, GPS icon searching for 10s, maps is visible, my location is ok and the position circle become smaller and smaller as GPS refine. BUT, when i select if theres a POI, he ask me to connect the phone AND if i select a point to go, he ask me to connect the phone .
D > third test : with A except only modify WITH wifi ON + watch without BT, without wifi but with data : exactly the same of C results : so data LTE cannot connect to phone wifi (seems logical)
E > test four : with A except only modify WITH bluetooth ON + watch WITH bluetooth ON, no wifi with data : same results as C, with the difference that google maps don't tell me to connect the phone but say that it cannot find any POI, and cannot calculate the path to destination (so even with data on watch + bluetooth on phone, nothing is possible except finding localisation)
F > last test : with A except bluetooth ON and Wifi ON on phone : and watch data ON and bluetooth ON : gps ok, localisation ok, POI are finding (by phone and sending to the watch i suppose) and when i pick a dest on watch and ask for path, google maps start on phone and calculate the path, wich appear on my watch then (i precise that at this moment, google maps on the phone tell me tha my watch have to activate it's own GPS during travel).
G > if i exit BT, wifi on the phone, the watch immediatly lost the already path... so it isn't store on the watch ...
FINALLY :
> We can say that the GPS is working well on my watch (even with no map, the compass replacing GPS icon is the witness) : so kianush you can verify this point on your's.
> we can say that google maps cannot work standalone on the watch : sim data only can show maps and watch gps localize position and show it, but NO POI or destination way ! If you want that, you have to connect watch to your phone, wiitch have to be connect to internet by wifi... and when you move, you have to get your phone too, if not, the path of destination is not in the watch.
I can tell that, google maps, is not a good apk to verify if your GPS is ok or not... the problem may be google map in fact
For me, who use SIM card in watch only and never use smartphone, googlemap is not usable at this time, because even i i get my phone with me, it will lost internet wifi connection and as it do not have simcard, it will never connect to internet for POI and Calculate path.
Hope this help you !
POST SCRIPTUM:
> i have try your configuration : i disable simcard connection in my watch and only activate bluetooth.
On my phone, i have activate bluetooth and wifi (no GPS activated on phone).
In this configuration, the watch gps find my position, so as GPS is OFF on phone, we can know that's the GPS watch is ok.
but notice that the watch tell me to connect to phone for POI or path !!!!!!!!!!! In fact, you have to connect with androidwear (via bluetooth) on phone, and then all work.
wow man! you really put your time on this, thank you very much! yeah I already returned my watch as I suspected the gps was not working, after 10 minutes of running google maps gps icon was still grey and there was a text saying still finding location! But I wonder how it could track my steps though!
also in what position were you testing? I was testing it at home at night (under the roof)
---------------
edit:
today they called me and sent a video to me showing that the wifi is working with no issue after factory reset, that's strange because I already did disconnect and reset the watch to see if it fixes the problem! could it be because of the phone that I paired it with? it's a xperia x compact with 7.1.1.
anyway they will send back the watch and I will try to test it again and see if its ok...
Im still not able to see any wifi ssid on my watch and also saw some other people on the internet talking about this issue in AW2
if anyone knows a fix, Im all ears...
Update:
So I today a was able to make sure my watch is not defective and its somehow a software bug or problem!
I disconnected and reset the watch to factory setting
then cleared the data and cache of google play services - android wear and google play store apps
Then after the watch started up, before pairing I long pressed the power button and went to wifi option there and in "add network" i was finally able to see my router and other available networks in the area!
Then i cleard all saved wifi networks on the phone (just in case it was related) and pair the watch to my phone,
and bang! Right after i confirmed the bluetooth code and it was showing that its looking for update, i went to settings the same way and I was not able to see any networks anymore!
So I decided to do these steps again and factory reset my watch and pair it to another phone(mine is xperia x compact with 7.1.1 and the other phone is galaxy j3 5.1.1), and still before pairing it showed and the moment I paired it in amdroid wear app, watch's wifi wont work anymore!
I also noticed that if instead of selecting the watch in android wear app, i just connect my phone bluetooth to it from phone settings, the phone will connect and the watch wifi is still working, but the watch wont pair and it keeps stuck at "searching for updates" screen.
So the might be something wrong with android wear app, or something else!!!
Please guys if you know how to fix this help me out
My watch is bt version leo-bx9 with build number N7176C
If there is a newer rom please give me instructions to flash, but I dont thinks its related to the rom...
WiFi issue fixed
Hi friends, I had this problems until last week, I connect watch to my phone and connect phone to WiFi for having internet, I ran VPN on the phone and go to watch and check for updates, I found the update via VPN, before I use VPN I didn't able to check update.
I started the update and watch go to Oreo, every thing were ok, WiFi was fixed, last night I check for updates again, there was new update from 1 March 2018, every thing is ok now, WiFi problem was android bug, I hope you enjoy it.

Please help me too as I am having this problem, so what country or vpn did you use? Did you have to format your watch ?
Ok this is weird and I dont know why this happens but if I reset my watch and connect to my ipad using wear os. I strangely get my ability to view wifi and have wifi on my watch for the first time. Now some things did change like the tutorial looked different on my watch.
Ok so I tried to reset and reconnect back to my watch and it seems that it wont work soooo. I guess we have cleared out that its not a hardware problem meaning not defective but a bug as stated. So pretty much our phones are doing something that the watch then wont accept wifi or somthing.
Now if i cant get it to work i guess I will have to sideload or using usb adb to put something that allows two devices to be connected to the watch.

Question Google Pay - Check your network connection

Hi,
Trying to set up Google Pay on my Samsung Watch 4 (model WH7R) and right after I select the account, I get this error message:
Check your network connection.
Please make sure that you're connected, and try again.
When I hit the Try again I immediately got the same error message.
If I hit Cancel then it will say Now Finish Setup On Your Phone but there is no app pop up on the phone.
Is there anything I should do to fix this? I have tried to reset my watch a few times. I have already set up Google Pay on my phone (Fold 3) and I am connected via both home Wifi and phone bluetooth.
Also WearOS app on my phone couldn't detect the watch (it is connected via the Galaxy Wear app), is that normal?
I have the very same "check your network connection" problem when selecting account on my Samsung Watch 4. Google Pay works fine on my galaxy s20 ultra mobile phone.
I have no idea what is causing this.

I have tried it for a few more days but ended up getting frustrated and returned the watch on Wednesday, it is a great watch otherwise (battery life is quite amazing) but I definitely need Google Pay to work on it since that's one of the primary reasons for me to own the watch.
GL resolve yours, for me I think I'll just wait to see if Google would eventually make a Pixel watch of some sort

I actually resolved it, thanks to this thread on reddit:

The problem was really ridiculous:
I was using a Gsuite account, but Gsuite accounts do not work with the watch, only with the mobile phone!!!
Using a personal account (ie @gmail.com) fixed the problem.

Wow thanks a lot, I wish we could go back in time and I might have kept the watch Thanks a lot for sharing the tip though, that's really good to know.
I didn't use the gmail one as I have been using my own domain for many yso I'll try to see if can turn off mobile device management in my GSuite domain instead.
