Hello guys!
At first when i was using a Custom Rom Lineageos 14.1, video recording wasn't working.
So the temporary fix for that was using a build.prop tweak "persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1".
Which did work. I was using AICP C-Rom with that tweak and everything was fine for some weeks.
But then i started getting an error.
I'm encountering an error when trying to record a video on my Lenovo P2.
Everytime when i try to record a video the following Message appears in a little toast message.
"Could not start media recorder."
"Can't start video recording."
Things to know and what i've already tried to trouble shoot:
- I'm currently using Custom Roms: RR - right now.
- I've done a Clean Flash, Dirty Flash, Rom Flash only.
- I've tried flashing Stock Firmware with Fastboot commands, flashed successful and all, but the camera just gave errors. Before i ever encountered an Error, the stock firmware was working fine. But now, it doesn't.
- i cleared cache.
- Script to enable Camera2Api : persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1 , tried with and without.
Only working video recording App: Footej Camera
So my question is ..how might i be able to fix this and is this a hardware issue?
#Which i highly doubt..because Footej Camera CAN record video just fine. It is so weird.
Solution: It was so simple, i uninstalled Xposed and installed Systemless Xposed.

Hello,
I am having issue with my camera "can't connect to the camera" on oneplus one (64gb).
Recently i formatted my system data using TWRP and after that it showed NO OS INSTALLED. So i downloaded nightly build from cyanogenmod's website and sideloaded the build in fastboot mode with gapps as well. During this process l lost recovery & backup, & encountered Can't connect to the camera issue, Please Help.
Everything was working properly even after this my device was much lightning fast & smoother.
But when i opened my Google camera then it displayed Can't Connect to the camera. I did almost all the things-
1. Firstly restarted the device to check whether it can be fixed by this method or not but my issue didn't resolve then i force stopped camera by clearing cache & data & then restarted the device but still same pop up appeared. On some forum thread's i also found that by installing app "Camera (CMFix) for Cyanogenmod" from play store will fix this issue, but app was not getting launched my problem didn't get resolve.
2. After getting all this issue i thinked to install snapshot build to check whether i can use my camera but this thing didn't work as well.
3. On so many forum's i found that changing the ROM will fix this issue so i downloaded Paranoid Rom and installed it but still my issue with camera didn't resolve.
I am following XDA forum as viewer since so years time and also i know that from here i can get fastest solution.
This is my first post on XDA developers cause i didn't find solution for this issue
Please please help me as i did almost all thing to fix my issue. I am ready to do anything to solve this issue. Please help
what version of gapps did you installed? in order for the camera to work you must install the "mini or micro" gapps package, when you are running AOSP, somehow the complete gapps package breaks the camera.
you can get the micro gaaps package from PA, it works for me https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=15797

To clarify this, you can install any gapps package as long as it doesn't contain a camera.

Q&A for [ROM][OFFICIAL] CyanogenMod 12.1 Nightlies for the D850
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for [ROM][OFFICIAL] CyanogenMod 12.1 Nightlies for the D850. If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
Running great so far
Just flashed this morning and is running great! Fantastic job on this rom! My phone is also running much cooler and smoother than the rom I had before (Blisspop v3.2 experimental w/ 777 kernel and thermal mods). Battery life is also much better than what I was running before.
[Q] What is the upgrade process from 12.0?
I have been reading the 12.1 thread, and a number of people have reported problems with dirty flashing over 12.0, especially if gapps are not flashed at the same time. Is there an approved method? If so, it would be helpful if it were placed at the beginning of the official ROM thread.
Thanks,
Alan
Having trouble setting custom ringtones and notification sounds on 12.1. Had no issue on 12. Can anyone advise? All I'm getting are the stock cm sounds. No option to pick from another file.

Here's what I did and it's working perfectly fine:
0. Optional - backup your user apps (I use Titanium backup). Boot into recovery and make a backup of your system image (nandroid).
1. Full-wipe/factory reset (it won't erase your pictures, music, or downloads on your internal and external sd cards)
2. Flash CM12.1
3. Wipe dalvic cache and cache
4. Flash Gapps (I happen to use Banks Gapps - you can google it since I can't post links yet)
5. I don't know if this is necessary, but I wipe dalvic cache and cache again.
6. Reboot system.

You might have to use a different file explorer other than "media storage" to search for your custom ringtones and notification sounds. That or you'll have to move your sound files into the ringtone and notifications folders.

I use es file Explorer but it's not even giving me the option of using a file Explorer to find files. It only gives me the menu with the builtin options.
Edit: Weird, after updating to the next nightly, it allowed me to pick from file explorer. Solved, I guess?
As mentioned by someone else in the main ROM thread, I'm having issues with "OK Google" detection. I've tried simple fixes like dirty-flashing the ROM/GAPPs again, deleting data/cache for Google play services, making sure all the apps are updated, etc. I've had this problem on 05-03 through 05-05 nightlies.
The error I get when I attempt to activate the "OK Google" from any screen (or try to retrain it) is "Can't use the microphone. Restart your device."

5ghz
I know lollipop has had some hit or miss issues with 5ghz networks, but I had been pretty lucky until I updated to 5.1. Now I have the common problem where my 5ghz bands don't even show up. Is there a fix for this anywhere? I've done some digging and the only thing I've found was a flashable file some guy made for the OnePlus One. I had been on nightly 03/24 for a long time cause it seemed to be great (was using 5ghz bands at my house daily), but I decided it had been a while so I flashed 05/03. At first, I had the dirty flash gapps issues, so I just ended up doing a clean install (and now I'm on 05/07), but I have the wifi problem: no 5ghz networks detected. I've forced frequency to 5ghz... I've tried rebooting into airplane mode... nothing. Any help or updates on this problem?

disregard... 05/03 was causing the problems, but after flashing 05/07 twice, I can now see and connect to 5ghz (though it's not super stable - but it works).

sleep of death
I've noticed a relatively rare SOD incidence with the D850 on CM11, CM12 and now CM12.1. I'm wondering if anyone else has seen this, and if there are any thoughts on what it might be related to. There are tons of app/system interactions that could lead to a SOD deadlock in android, so it's entirely likely that this only triggers for some, but not all users.

Problem with Camera 4k
I cannot record video with the camera using 4K for more than 10 seconds. I have high speed Micro SD and it still does not work. I have enough space on the phone storage and cannot record it there either. Not sure what is going on. Anyone have the problem? I searched for a long time all over the web and cannot find anything about it. I have done a total wipe and clean install and still no go. I have tried different camera apps including the ones that you install with an APK.
Anyone???

Anyone run into this?
I searched the forum and couldn't find anyone with anything similar to this...
Using COS12.1 - yog4pas1n0
TWRP Installed
Rooted
Xposed Installed
ColorOS Camera
Those are the biggest recent changes I've made to my OPO . But recently, the camera will fail for video recording only for all apps (Snapchat, Camera, Instagram, Whatsapp etc.)
I've rebooted a numerous times and always the same result, it'll work after boot (repeatedly) but then fail to work a few minutes after.
I've uninstalled all the Xposed Modules thinking one of them could be the issue
Ran a boot manager to run only the essentials, but still the same issue
I can still take photos but it's just the video recording
Any suggestions from anyone?

"unable to use flashlight camera light being used by camera" HOW can I fix it?
Hi guys, I was performing a light debloat on an already superbly debloated rom but after a while I got AGAIN this error:
"unable to use flashlight camera light being used by camera"
So, neither the flashlight nor the camera work at all.
My only solution is to flash the rom again, but this problem SHOULD NOT occur!
I only removed (and the restored thru titanium backup): samsung mail, google drive, S-Voice and Game Launcher.
Restoring them did not work
EDIT: A dirty flash of the rom solved the problem.
Same problem with my J730G. It happened to me three times already, and started to debloating one by one. Turns out it was the Stock Samsung Email. After I uninstall the email app, I can't use the camera anymore and flashlight. Even if I redownload the app from the galaxy store.
hello.
same problem resolved for me after light debloating.
the sympthom for me, camera crash and flashlight occupied by other app.
the procedure i follow, "adb logcat" can help and you need root acces on your device. i suggest you extract the needed files from the system.img of the same rom and version of installed on your device to be sure its compatible.
in logs i have read some error about
/system/bin/cameraserver and a shared library named
libquramresize.so. so i go to check the files system on my device and i see does not exit.
obviously i extract from my system.img, i put it on my device and i reboot.
after rebooting, i have read an other error about /system/bin/cameraserver but this time the lib is libSaitRelightingInterface2.so. no need to say you i repeat the same process. i have rebooted the devices but the flashlight has worked with no need to.
after rebooting, no more error about cameraserver.
the flashlight and the camera work well for me with all features i have before.
i am sorry for my bad english and i hope this help you.
good luck and have fun.

LineageOS needs no introductions. This version of LineageOS-14.1 is a highly customised version solely for the Amazon Fire HD10
- EVEN MORE IMPORTANT: This ROM only works on devices using the bootloader hack. See <<< HERE >>> to unlock your devices.
- IMPORTANT: Do not update Magisk via the Magisk Manager App, your device will enter a bootloop if you do. Instead update Magisk via TWRP only. If you do this by accident then it is recoverable by just flashing the latest version of the ROM again (with gapps etc as required).

Its regarding media playback (OpenMaX)
Should be able to flash it over cm-12.1.
Be sure to install arm64 7.1 gapps the first time round.
Amazing, you are the man! Thanks! Lots of stuff already working nicely. The only thing I noticed in a quick test is video playback not working, Netflix won't even start, and YouTube just shows black screen.
Edit: WiFi also still drops occasionally, just like on CM 12.1.
I'm having a couple issues already. i dirty flashed over 12.1. installed magisk, then xposed-v89-sdk25-arm64.zip, and open_gapps-arm64-7.1-nano-20190926.zip.
Not Working:
1. Home and Recent buttons do not work. Does not work in navigation bar or in other apps such as LMT and FNG (Fluid Navigation Gestures)
2. when I open Solid Explorer, I get "requested file was not found. Path: /storage/sdcard1
3. Can't get into Developer Mode. Nothing shows up when I tap.
4. the Play Store does not download at all. it just keeps pending.
5. Plex does not work.
Working:
1. USB C Headphones (Earpods) w/ 2 adapters.
2. Amazon Prime Video does work but very choppy. Unwatchable.
3. YMusic. (gets a choppy slightly)
Update: I did a clean install and so far it's working much better. I'll have to reinstalll all my apps and test the rest later.
TLDR: DO A CLEAN INSTALL. a dirty flash from 12.1 will give you problems.

That's the conclusion I came to. The major issue is video playback. I'll start looking into that shortly.
Great to see Nougat coming to Fire HD10. Thanks!
Just have to unlock my bootloader and will give this a try.
Quick question: if it doesn't work as I expect, can I revert back to stock ROM without any problems?

If you have an unlocked bootloader and TWRP installed you can make a backup of your fireOS and then try any rom you want. If not satisfied you can restore fireOS. Go back to locked bootloader with stock rom is also possible (but why?).
PS: There is also a fully working Lineage 12.1 if you won't wait for video playback.
@retora Thank you. Tablet wasn't unlocked yet. Just manually debloated and rooted Stock ROM. But not many important things on it, so a factory reset wasn't that much of a headache.
Did the bootloader unlock, no problems at all. After it flashed this 14.1 ROM, GApps and Magisk. So far it seems to work really nice. I am just setting it up and will play around a bit.
Yeah, I saw that there is a 12.1, but I am sure @ggow will get the video playback working soon.
Is the download delay in playstore still present? This seems to be the most important issue as I learned in the 12.1-thread.
One new issue I noticed (was working fine on CM 12.1) is that I can't set up the Gmail app. It asks me to add an account, but if I try to add my Google account it tells me the account is already present on the device. Other Google apps like Photos work fine.
I did do wipe (but no data format) before installing the ROM, and I installed the pico gapps together with the ROM.

Haven't experienced any delay with the Playstore. First I installed some benchmarks to compare it with the Stock ROM. Seems to be 4-5% faster than the Stock ROM, if I look at the average of the benachmarks I used.
Just did an update to all apps for which an update was available via Store (YouTube, Google, Photos) - started downloading right after clicking on "Update all". No delay either with starting the next app after updating the first one.
So far I am very satisfied. Gonna try some bluetooth devices and see how they behave.

So if we're coming from your other ROM, we don't need to wipe? Just flash this and the newer gapps?
@GuyInDogSuit Some people are having issues with that so a clean flash is recommended

Grant gmail app permissions and all will be good.
Any idea why I can't install Google Play Games?
Did a fresh install of the ROM with GApps mini. The Games app is downloaded by the store but fails to install with a general "The app can't be installed" message.

So if we're coming from your other ROM, we don't need to wipe? Just flash this and the newer gapps?

@GuyInDogSuit i did a dirty flash. i encountered many problems. a clean install is recommended.
@ggow perhaps you can add a note in your post to do a clean install if upgrading from 12.1 to prevent further queries regarding this issue.
