What is android.btl.s600ww.overlay - Nokia 8 Guides, News, & Discussion

I just noticed there's an app in my phone: android.btl.s600ww.overlay
Anybody know what is this? Did Google, and search in this forum... Found nothing.
I've TA-1004, with latest January security patch.

Hmmmm... Nobody knows.

I don't know what is the purpose of this app but i have that too.

[Q] Problems adding Facebook account on Verizon model

Hey, guys. I've noticed other phones having this problem, and it looks like the Xperia Play on Verizon is affected, too. When I go to Menu/Settings/Account & sync and try to add a Facebook account, it goes right back to the Account & sync page without adding Facebook. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it with no success. Is there some sort of workaround?
Thanks
looks to be a issue w/ our phone.. I posted the same thing in general.
I added my fb account without any problems..

you are not running stock GB on Verizon tho
Yeah, I suppose I should have posted what I'm running. Currently I'm running Android version 2.3.2, Build number 3.0.E.2.89
All stock. (On a side note, this is also preventing me from rooting at the moment.)

Well, at least we now know it's a common issue.

Yep do you have problems with your front facing camera in video chat applications?
Well, the only one I've tried is Tango, but I read that the front camera not working is a known issue with that app and our phone. I haven't tried any others yet.

This is a remnant from the other builds I think. On other stock android devices, Facebook can still be a contact provider. Something is blocking it in the OS level from some tweak by SonyEricsson.
HOWEVER! You can get around it by using SonyEricsson's Life.Contacts as a synch partner to synch up FB contacts.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.sonyericsson.zwooshi
Hmm... I'll have to check that out. Thanks for the link.

Yeah, this is an issue, I think, that has to do with Sony stripping the Xperia facebook-in-android experience parts out of the phone, but forgetting to re-enable the FB built-in synch that it was blocking.
So for right now, you have to use the Life.Contacts app to be able to synch FB. The problem with it though, is that the config is only available through Life.Contacts' widget. So it makes it a bit of a pain. It also only works with one account type at a time. So you can't use Life.Contacts to synch FB, Twitter, and other social networks at the same time to my knowledge.
Ok so... How do you actually get this to work? I downloaded and installed life.contacts and linked to my facebook, but my contact still don't show their pictures and info. Did I do something wrong?

App Ops on Kit Kat?

So, I tried to install the permission manager app from the play store for 4.3 and it didn't work, how can we manage app permissions on 4.4?

Google have blocked access to it in 4.4 so the built-in app is no longer available.
Coming from CM10.2 I was hoping to at least be able to use this with my N5, but alas it's not so .

Wait... They removed the feature that they just added to the last version? Or they removed the old method of enabling it?

I believe they blocked the APIs used by the permissions editor which is why it crashes - but I'm struggling to find the reference I read that had this info.......
afaik they removed it completely. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47098228&postcount=2
One of the best features ever introduced to android and they remove it. Might even downgrade my N7 because of this.

I downgraded my N4 back to 4.3. Disabling app ops is terrible. Even apple has this feature: iOS alerts you if any app wants to access your contacts, or your photos, or your camera, and you have a choice to allow or not. Android 4.3 does not alert you, but at least you have the option to dig into the App Ops and revoke access to certain things. 4.4 is the first time an android upgrade dissapointed me (they destroyed the alarm app, the keyboard, the wifi indicator's activity/internet access, and App Ops).
App ops was never an official feature, so they technically didn't remove anything.

So? It's still a feature they included, with easy access, and then took away even though it was nothing but effective for the users...

I'm with you on the users defending Google like the can do no wrong, but definitely disagree about the YouTube g+ integration... They needed to clean YouTube up, and now I can see friend's comments on videos more easily and only view the comments and responses of certain people... That was a good idea..
I think Google is completely wrong by blocking this app ops function, if that's what happened here...

Does anyone know where these preferences are stored? I'm mainly concerned with whether or not changing the options will affect an OTA update. If nothing is altered in the system files I'm sure we're good to go.

Low volume while speaking

Hi all
First I'm new here and hope to learn as much as I can on Android (Been using iPhone until a few months ago). Anyway I was wondering about an issue I have : While speaking on phone the volume is very low and I need to turn it up manually every time. Is there any way to configure this as a permanent setting? I have tried to search for an option under my phone app but couldn't find any.
I'm using Nexus 5 with Lollipop. Not rooted.
I'll be thankful for some help
Cheers!

Welcome to xda! FYI, questions go in the Q&A section.
I have not encountered that problem, nor can I think of a solution atm. Could be a bug that will be resolved in a future update.
Are you on 5.0.0, 5.0.1?
5.0.2 shouldn't be too far off.
I'm using 5.0.0
I forgot to mention I had this issue on Kitkat as well so not sure it's a bug but maybe I'm missing something...

Accessibility issues

I've noticed my Last Pass auto fill has not been autofilling my queries properly. My accessibility services are continually being turned off and I have to go back in and enable them whenever needed.

Settings>battery>close apps after screen lock
then find the app and toggle to OFF works for Roboform. Accessibility finally remains ON.
That is not where I would look to find what everyone calls "ignore battery optimisation" and it has taken a while to find the correct setting to change. I'm posting this in case it helps someone find the correct place. Huawei themselves say that different phones have different menus.

Assistant

Hey, did anyone achieved google assistant on your galaxy s7? Can't get it. Beta version of google play services also does not work.
I believe we need to accept an ota for that apparently from what I've been reading.

My understanding is that it's a server side switch, no update required. I think they may have jumped the gun with the announcement last week since I've heard very few reports of assistant becoming available not only on the S7/S7 Edge, but even other marshmallow/nougat devices as of yet.
Does the region of your phone affect on receiving an update? Or only the interface language?
You can get Google Assistant by downloading Lucky Patcher and patching the Google App to have Google Assistant enabled. Fully functioning thank you to the patch modder. Give it a go! It worked for me, but I prefer Google Now as the screen search is so handy and I've become fixed to it.
Good luck and let me know if you have troubles with the app!

Maybe because i have signed up to a beta testing of google application? Its v.6.14.14.21.arm64 now.

I tried it with Google Allo and didn't like it there so not really fussed, but wonder why it hasn't activated for me

Also assistant cant identify songs yet.
