Hey guys,
today I got my first Android Head Unit and I am very happy about it. Unfortunately, I don't like the Launcher at all. So I decided to switch it to AutoMate (it's an Android Auto Launcher). For making phone calls I would like to use the Stock Contact App.
Is it possible to sync my contacts via bluetooth and to make the phone calls via the stock contact app? There is no SIM Card inserted in the Head Unit, so I have to make the calls via my phone (bluetooth).
Thanks in advance.

+1 I have tried also dashdroid and it seems there is not way to access contacts over BT
Those launchers are made to be installed on a smartphone, not on the head unit. You must choose a launcher specific for Android head units.

Hi,
I'm using a Galaxy S2, and I would like to know if it is possible (and if so: how) to change the default dialer.
I have multiple dialers (VOIP, skype, ...), and everytime i want to dial, I want to select which one to use ... Except when I'm in the car, I want to use the normal dialer (otherwise I would have to take the phone out of my pants to select the dialer).
I'm fairly experienced with Tasker, so the correct contexts are loaded. I only need to know how I can change the default dialer within 1 context.
Anyone can help ?

Hello Deva,
I was actually looking for that. Here is what I did so far, but with no eventual success because of my need to kill default dialer.
I found out on XDA that no application will allow you to change the default application for security reasons. Android does not want any application to hijack your phone by assigning itself as a default application without your approval, or so I heard.
I wanted the voip dialer to be used in morning and the stock dialer in the evening, because of my limited daytime minutes. So I decided to use a different method. I have two dialing programs, the android stock one and a voip dialer. Using Tasker and Secure Settings (paid) I created a profile to kill the unwanted dialer during the time of the day.
Theoretically it should work fine, but when I put to practice, it did not function as I expected. I discovered that killing the default dialer in the morning actually prevented me from receiving phone calls, so I would see the calls received but instantly get rejected. It was fine at the evening though because killing/freezing the voip dialer has no harmful effect.
So the best you can achieve if you are suing this method is to create a task to freeze all other dialers but the default/stock one while you are in the car and then unfreeze them when you are not.
You post was in September 2011. If you find a solution prior to my post, please let me know: I am still looking for a solution for my case.
Hello everyone!
Things go like this:
I just bought a P8max a week ago and I've been trying to make the SBH52 work properly with it since...
The story starts with me using the SBH52 with an LG G3, which worked absolutely perfect. When i paired it with the LG i just installed the Sony SBH52 app from google play and the Sony Connect app from google play. Nothing else was needed and everything worked absolutely perfect.
Now, on the P8max i did, at first, the same thing: installed the two apps from the google play market and paired the device, hoping to be able to use it just like before with the LG.
First i noticed that the phone wasn't pushing notifications anymore to the device, so it didn't notify me about the new messages and new calendar events. The phone call log was working fine and I could see the numbers and names of the people on the call log, and also call back and answer. I can also see the music playlist from the phone and play the music, skip songs and all that crap.
Since the notification pushing was not working, i downloaded from google play the extensions of the SBH52 software - sms extension, calendar etc. and tried with that, but nothing worked.
Next thing, I called Sony support and the only thing i was able to get out of that woman that answered the phone was that the device has Bluetooth 3.0 and the following bluetooth profiles:
· Handsfree profile (HFP) v1.6
· Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) v1.2
· Audio Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP) v1.4 – Control and Target role
And that I should try to contact Huawei to see if the phone is compatible or has the above profiles.
So that I did! Called Huawei support and they told me the A2DP came as standard with the phone, but they didn't know if the phone had the HFP and the AVRCP, and they'd call me back and tell me if the phone has them or if there was a possibility to install (?!) them on the phone.
So here I come to you and ask, to the profiles exist on the phone, is there a possibility to make my SBH52 work properly with the P8max?!
Also, I forgot to mention that the device disconnects often from the device and i have to unlock the device, start the SBH52 app (even if its running in the background) push the "call answer" button on the SBH52 and THEN it pairs again.
Help?!!
Thanks in advance,
Silvio
OK , I just purchased the international version and seem to have it working with the SBH52. Make sure the Sony apps are not blocked from remaing in memory in the protected section in settings. That's what solved for me.
Sent from my HUAWEI P8max using Tapatalk
Ok, did what you said, now it seems to keep the connection up. That one good thing, thank you for the advice.
The remaining problem of the notifications is not solved though. Does your SBH52 show notifications - new text messages and calendar reminders?
Thanks!
You might have to enable notifications access to the apps
Hi all,
I wanted to let you guys know that the Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic both work on Android 7.0 Nougat
I'm using a Oneplus One running 7.0.
The point I tried to connect the watch my phone denied it and told be connection couldn't be made.
After turning the Bluetooth on and off again I was able to connect my Gear S2 with my phone (Probably a ROM bug)
[Improvements]
Everything seems to work fine and I even saw improvements.
Since Android Nougat I am able to see pictures of whatsapp messages, I wasn't able to do that on Marshmallow.
[Bugs]
There is 1 bug, I'm not sure if it's my ROM or the compatibility.
When I browse through my quick launch apps I see the messaging app, the app to send and receive Sms with.
I never saw this app on Marshmallow and it worked!
The app isn't available in the application list, only in the quick launch widget.
Too bad, after adding the app the widget will reset itself or the messaging app disappear from the quick launch widget after a certain time.
You can re-add it and use it, it's just an annoying bug.
[So, does it work?]
Yes, The S2 as well as the apps you need (S health included) works fine, no problems at all so far.
And if I will find one, I will post it here.
Hi, is your device encrypted? I'm planning on buying the s2..but grew hesitant after reading that encrypted phones are having synchronization issues.
(Btw i'm on nexus 6p)
Thanks.
How about phone calls? I have this weird bug that whenever i get a phone call, the names would show up on the gear....but on the phone, only numbers... like i dont have the person thats calling in my contacts.
And my phone wont display names until I delete samsung apps that connects to my phone.
Are you getting the same thing too?
I have the V20 (now with android 7)
Hi everyone,
So I've been using voip.ms as my phone service for a few years now, and the native SIP client on Android has always worked like a charm on my previous phones (Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexuis 5X).
I just got a Samsung Galaxy S7 G930F, and it seems like the native SIP client is broken and not working properly.
I got to configure the SIP settings by following this guide, but it seems like I cannot get outoing calls to work (incoming calls work perfectly).
Whenever I make a call, I cannot use the volume controls (stuck at max volume), and when the other party answers my call, they hear a loud strident machine sound, but they cannot hear me at all. I can hear them, but the sound is really choppy.
I've tried factory resetting the phone, I've also tried using the Google Dialer, but the problem persists.
Normal calls work just fine, so it seems like this has something to do with the SIP stack.
My questions to you guys are, has anyone had success in using the native Android SIP client on their Samsung Galaxy S7 phone? Has anyone experienced the same issue?
I'm now using Zoiper for making VOIP calls, but its implementation of Bluetooth car controls is broken. That's one of the reasons I liked the Android native SIP client so much: it worked perfectly out of the box on my previous Nexus phones.
Thank you.
same problem here, with the addition that the noise also occurs on incoming calls, thus making the internal SIP client useless. It was working fine on my S5mini (an otherwise crippled phone), and I have the exact same setup on the S7. I tested safe mode and uninstalling a call recorder app, but to no avail.
Samsung, I bought your premium phone, so get this fixed!

Same problem on my S7. CSipSimple works but without the native client integration I cannot use BT.
Im using Canadian Exynos if that makes a difference. Anyone who has tried the Nougat beta, does it fix it?
the problem seems to be fixed after upgrading to Android 7.0

I have 7.0 (stock rom) on my A320FL (Galaxy A3 2017) and i'm still having this exact problem with the native SIP client I hope they fix it on android O or i'll have to wait for a custom rom to be released ;-;
s8 active choppy sip sound
Incoming calls are working but outgoing have choppy sound. I tried different codecs on freepbx side but still the same. Any updates for better sound quality?
for whatever reason (one of the last updates?), internet calling now works on Samsung Galaxy S7, Android 7.0, G930FXXU2DRA9.
updated to Android 8.0 today. VoIP connections not usable anymore. After installing "Galaxy SIP Accounts" I can again edit the connections and send and receive calls, but the connection is completely silent - not even the cracking noise I had for a while with Android 7 before it magically disappeared.
Any ideas what to do?

It works fine on S7 & Oreo with my provider (odorik.cz). Already did a few calls without any issues.
one day later after installing Zoiper but not changing any phone or network settings, the native client is working again... quite strange behavior...
SOLVED - Problems with VOIP Client
hi there,
since this thread helped / enlightened me, i thought i contribute some observations of mine.
Used hardware: Samsung Galaxy S7
Aprox. one and a half year ago i started with VOIP and of course as a newbie i did it with apps like Zoiper IAX or CSip Simple, but never was really happy to have to use an extra app for phone calls.
While later i discovered the both apps "Galaxy SIP accounts" and "Galaxy SIP settings" in an article, downloaded them from playstore, setup them in a minute and was totally happy.
Was glad that i could remove those other apps then.
Because my S7 starts to loosen its display now, i got myself another one and because i now knew that those two Galaxy SIP apps worked perfectly i installed them from the start being extremely disappointed about echoes and heavily distorted sound.
Then read this thread and thought i'd give it a try (because couldn't get the built-in client work properly anyway) and installed zoiper, did my phone call and everything worked smoothely.
Then i remembered that on the former phone i had external apps installed before as well.
So to me it seems that, at least on the S7 with Nougat/Oreo those external apps change something and make the hidden client work properly which can then be utilized with the two Galaxy SIP apps.
Now i have deinstalled zoiper but the VOIP client still works fine !
Hope my story gives useful information to someone as well

Hi all,
I have FYT UIS8581 Headunit, some Chinese without brand, android 10.
The Bluetooth app is horrible...
- phone contacts cleared on every start, and i should resync it on every engine start.
- call history isnt synced with phone..
I have Tried everything.. With no any success..
So, Im looking for Bluetooth app to replace the stock app.
It would be great if anyone that can export the Bluetooth app to apk and upload here.
Also, if someone has experience with replacing the stock bluetooth app, it would be nice to get some assistance and guidance.
Thanks.
I am using TS18 Topway Series UIS 8581. I'm not happy with the Bluetooth either. The internal microphone is too low on the other side. Did you solve your problem?

How difficult is it to fix bugs? Well for many years, these head-units suffer from a bug which deletes your Google contact's. It happened on the EKIY D7 as well, so it's not something new.
I did however find a workaround: the issue occurs, because your contacts are being synchronised by Google. However the contact list on the headunit is empty, so this synchronises to your phone once connected by bluetooth.
Many users have suggested to turn of allow sharing of contacts settings in bluetooth, but that results in not having your contacts on the headunit. So instead you should go to User>Google Account> and put off the synchronization of contacts. That fixed it, and than the bluetooth simply transfers you contacts to the headunit without deleting it.
Just like how it worked on my OEM unit from Suzuki, but if you don't use Google for you contacts. Then this bug would most likely not effect you.
From my review about Mekede M500s, which suffers from the exact same bug. I described the fix.

First impressions The shipment from Poland was just two days, that was something I was very happy with. It came in a unbranded box, and with a little manual. Which I found very useful, even there is a lot of information in the general FYT...
