Prevent Play Store app from updating. - Shield Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So my problem is I want to keep the 7.84 version of the Play Store but everyone I restart my tablet it tries to update itself. I want to keep it from doing this. I've tried different things I saw online but nope seem effective. Anyone know how to do this? I am rooted on 5.3 Nvidia OS. Shield K1

Unable to Gamestream?

So I bought this device secondhand from some guy on craigslist. I did a factory reset and first thing i tried was to use gamestream. However, after installing my drivers on my PC, my shield is now saying "Update system software to stream games from myPCname." Upon clicking that, it seems that this is already the latest version.
From my assumption, the previous user rooted and did not unroot causing this to happen. Can someone confirm this or lead me in the right direction?
I had the same problem after rooting it, you have to go to the play store and search for Tegrazone (hub orsomething) and press Update
For some reason the play store does not update it automatically

Cool, let me know if that worked. would help others well
Had the same issue just now. Download Shield Hub from play store. Replaces the Tegrazone. I was just getting unable to connect errors before.
Shame the tegra button cant be reassigned to the new app though
Yup, updating the app was the problem. Thanks!

Google Playstore problem

I'm on the original shield (NOT the tablet, k?)
Okay...I accidentally installed some idiotic Amazon App store. So after uninstalling it, I got a connection error for my play services.
I fixed that by editing a host file (common fix for us rooted Nvidia shield owners).
So far...so good.
But even though everything is working for the most part, my NEW PROBLEM is that anytime I try to download ANYTHING from the google play store, it will crash on me saying "unfortunately, playstore stopped..."
I think the problem COULD BE when I mistakenly deleted the google play store and reinstalled it, the reinstalled version isn't right for the shield.
Maybe I could be wrong but I think the shield uses a modified version of the google play store just FOR the shield. So maybe I have a version that doesn't quite sync with it.
I'm on kitkat...thorougly annoyed... *sigh*
Any help here?
Could someone post a link to a (or upload a version of) the stock Nvidia shield google play store app for me?
Like I said, in my naivety I deleted the google play store app and re-installed a newer/different version (I think) that doesn't play right with the shield. version 4.9.13 is the one I have, I got it online. And I don't think it plays well with the shield.
I already cleared the cache, logged out of ALL accounts, rebooted and blah, blah, blah.... and again, I'm on a rooted shield, etc.
Not sure what I'm missing here. Anyone here had a similar experience/dilemma? Any help would me MUCH appreciated.
Cheers!

Plants VS Zombies 2 Lollipop 5.0.1

I used to play PVZ2 a lot back on 4.4.4 KitKat, and I had noticed that I hadn't seen an update for the game in forever. So I though maybe they removed it? Which wouldn't make sense. So I searched in the Play Store and... Nothing. I then googled the game and I found the Play Store link, and clicked it and it said "device incompatible with this version"...? I installed it before and it played, and it still plays. I'm on 5.0.1 stock Lollipop and I'm wondering if anyone else plays it and is getting updates? I can back door update it, but why does it say it isn't compatible? This is a Nexus device, it should work. Is it Lollipop? Or did they discontinue Lollipop support on the N5? Which would make sense to me...
Anyone play it and know what's going on?

It is compatible with our device. Most likely you altered the DPI of your screen which causes compatibility issues with certain apps, or perhaps some other root level modification.

No... I have a completely stock 5.0.1 Lollipop, no modifications or customizations. The only thing I have is root to get rid of ads and backup my apps.
So it is in your play store?
And I know it IS compatible, well, it was for me anyways, which is why I was asking since I found it really weird.

I can see it in the Play Store and it's listed as compatible with my device. Do you have any other devices registered to your Google account perhaps?

Just my old HTC Inspire 4G which isn't compatible but it worked before on my N5. Hmmm... Maybe I should just delete the game and clear data for PS and look again.

Installing Shield Tablet system image on non-shield devices

Hey everyone,
I have a Samsung tablet that I don't use that much and I was wondering if I can flash an Nvidia Shield Tablet system image on it. The reason is to be able to access Nvidia exclusive android games from the play store. I tried stuff like device faker etc... But they don't seem to work.
Thanks for having a look.
Simple, no.

Not advisable. You will probably brick your tablet worst case and best case have to factory restore your tablet.

[Q] Sony S Tablet. Google Play

Hello everyone, first time posting here. I apologize is it's not the correct place or if it is a complete waste of time.
I have a couple of questions about the Sony S Tablet. For the past 5 days I have been trying to figure out why I keep getting a "no connection" error every time I tried to install an app from the play store. I had try everything that i could possibly find to fix this problem to no success. I did not have root explorer because I guess i did a factory reset at some point. I have ICS on the tablet which was rooted a long time ago.
Anyways, I tried everything under the sun that I could find and ended up removing the root privilege ( didn't even know i could do that). then after I used the kingoroot PC version to root again. I removed the hosts file under /system/etc and still did not fix my problem. Also managed to uninstall the play store app
Anyways, I am pretty much giving up hope for anything else., however I kind of want to use the tablet just to watch streaming like HULU and NETFLIX. I can use netflix but i can't not get hulu to work whatsoever. It seems that the problem that plagues this app is the same that I had when trying to install something from the the play store.
Is there any hulu APKs around that I could still use as well as being able to re-install the play store? I'm completely out of ideas and by now just want to be able to use netflix and hulu is nothing more.
Any help from anyone? comment or suggestions are very appreciated.
