when i try to play most of games (downloaded from playstore too) they detect a gaming controller connected and i can't use touchscreen controls, of course i didn't connect any controller... do you have any idea why this happens?
i think is something related to android oreo but cant find anything on web
That is absolutely bizarre, isn't it? That definitely doesn't sound right.
My gaming is limited to Real Racing 3 and some really middle aged word games.
I am baffled - could it be anything to do with a connected bluetooth device (e.g. speaker) being mis-identified??
is this happening also to you? i don't think is bluetooth related coz i have bluetooth switched off and zero devices connected... must be an incompatibility with Android Oreo
My experience of gaming is fairly limited - maybe list a few of the games that are causing problems and see if any other forum members have the same problem..?

I get extremely bad performance (bad, choppy fps, stuttering sound) when I have my bluetooth headset paired to the Shield while running stuff like retroarch. Is this an Android issue with bluetooth sound devices or something I'm missing with the settings? The moment I disable passing audio to my headset, everything runs normally again.
My bluetooth headphones did cause my android to crash once reboot (once so far), but other than that they have worked fine. There might be an underlying undiscovered bluetooth audio bug. Hopefully some more folks will chime in here.

Music, movies, stuff that don't stress the hardware seem to work ok. Its when I run emulators like retroarch (or probably anything that makes the Shield work harder) that gives me performance issues. Anyway, I think this is a known android issue since an admin in the retroarch forums confirmed the same thing, as well as some members in the geforce.com shield board. I did notice that this isn't an issue when I tried my headphones on my sister's nexus 7 2013 tablet, which is running android 4.4.2. Maybe kitkat addresses this (but I think I've been seeing bluetooth fixes in changelogs for multiple android firmwares now so I don't know)?
Hi all,
First off, let me say how excited I was when I saw updates that allowed for multiple controller support in GameStream games. That's one of my killer features!
The new problem is, after updating, when I turn on my controllers, go into Console Mode/GameStream, etc., the audio continues playing though my computer speakers in another room (not the TV, like it used to), and while the controllers register on the Shield Tablet (to select a game), once the game launches, the controllers don't register in the game at all!
I can still long-press the Start arrow to quit a game, but every game I launch, the controllers don't respond now.
I've already tried 'forgetting' the controllers and re-syncing them, but this issue is totally new to me. And yes, I've already checked/unchecked the 'Audio on PC' option, plenty of times.
I'm really not sure what's going on, but I'm kind of at a loss. As of now, all my GameStream is good for is watching games load with no audio, and that's it.
Has anyone else had an issue like this and knows how to fix it?
Hi folks,
I got this new phone and I have a question regarding Bluetooth and Spotify. With my old smartphones(ZUK Z2 Pro or Samsung S7) connecting Spotify through Bluetooth, I can change songs/volumes on my car dash entertainment system. But with this smartphone I can not. Only thing shown is "Sony XZ Premium", which is the name of the device.
Do I need special configurations for this phone to get it work with the dash system?
Yours
I laso tested other apps like vlc etc. and none of them are controlable with the wheel controls or the car system. Seems to be a bug....
I don't have an issue with music control via my car to Deezer.
There is an general issue with bluetooth in Android 7.1.1 version. I have a problem with song information not being updated, however my car controls works, for most of the time. It seems like this problem is not present in newer cars/radios.
Yeah, I tried today also other apps like VLC/Deezer/Music app and all of them have this bug. I hope there is a fix soon. It is really annoying while driving that I can not change a song I don't want to listen to. I contaced also Sony Xperia Care, but they wanted to tell me it the car which is defective and not the smartphone...
sorry to go off on a tangent, but have you got deezer to work? I cannot for the life of me get deezer to work for me. Can you let me know what settings you are using, eg cache, etc... I have a support call open with deezer, even trying their beta but app just does not work - does not play anything...
Yeah I'm having this issue with Google Play music. Guessing it's a Bluetooth 5 codec.
Reported on Sony's forums as well,
Fingers crossed for a fix

I have the same problem, Spotify will not update the track information on what's playing. I hope there is a fix for it soon, kinda annoying. That and the wifi issues. Lucky I have unlimited data.
Mine just connected like normal. Seems like it sounds better than my last phone also. I did have a problem where it kinda froze the Bluetooth on my receiver and had to restart that. My receiver is pretty old though. Spotify working fine with it but with your same issue
Same issue with a mini cooper s 2017. I'm able to connect to the car for phone calls and contact sharing but unable to play any music via bluetooth. It seems that the phone shows as connected but the car just says as connecting. I really hope this issue is fixed soon.

Well Minis are technically BMWs so I guess the bluetooth interface is the same.
I managed to stream audio to my friend's Chevy Cruize but without the streering wheel controls (skip, vol up/down).=
Try pairing again and update your iDrive system (ask your dealership for more info about that)

Spoke to Sony who refuse to believe their device is a fault.. No plans to release any software tweaks till Android P apparently.

After messing around with settings and bluetooth I was able to achieve a connection to media audio. If you have Google Play Music installed, that is part of the bluetooth culprit.
1. Force stop Google Play Music under app settings.
2. Turn off bluetooth.
3. Toggle bluetooth back on, and under BMW/Mini go to the media menu and select your phone, after a few seconds you should be able to achieve a bluetooth media connection and you can run Google Play Music again.
I'm not sure if this can fix the spotify issue, but I was able to get my Google Play Music to work via bluetooth on my Mini, it is kind of annoying having to do all those steps anytime I get off the car, but then again, my drives are usually pretty long so I don't mind doing it at least a couple times a day.
Let me know if that worked for you.
I'm looking into streaming and recording my games for Mixer and YouTube but having a lot of issues that I hope people on here might have some idea how to fix.
So firstly there is the video side of things, no matter what I try I can't get my Android screen to display on my PC (for OBS) without major lag, I've tried going through USB in combination with apps such as MirrorGO, Vysor Pro and AirDroid and also tried through WiFi using the cast screen option on Android but all have there lag issues, especially with resources heavy games like PUBG Mobile.
There is also the problem of audio, as far as I'm aware Android made it impossible to record internal system audio, so I can't get any of my ingame sounds when using a screen recorder, if I was to just do a recording straight from my phone...although I can get them to the PC through the casting option, the sounds are out of sync and somewhat stretched out at times, making it very unenjoyable to listen to.
Sadly and annoyingly, my Type-C port on my Xiaomi Mi5S Plus doesn't support Alt Display, so I can't just use a Type-C to HDMI cable into a capture card....so I'm at a bit of a loss.
If anyone has any suggestions, be it rooted options, apps, firmware, roms or even hardware that I might be able to try out then please let me know.
Phone Specs
- Xiaomi Mi5S Plus
- Snapdragon 821
- 4GB Ram
- MiUI 9.5.2.0
I find it crazy how hard it is to do something which should be so simple, if only I could use a Type-C to HDMI adapter I'd be sorted by now
So I got my mittens on a MiStick and its fine, except some of the games don't work, and I think its because the device is detected or functions as a touchscreen device. So, as I understand it, unless a game has controller integration it won't work? Crossy Road is stuck on the age screen at the beginning and no way to input.
If anyone can enlighten me that would be great.....can this be altered so the device functions as a normal Android TV device.
Can’t help you with your problem. Just wanted to say that I’m extremely disappointed with the mi tv stick. Often I can’t boot it up and have to pull the plug, also prime video is buffering very often... my Networkspeed is very good so this is not the problem. Also it freezes sometimes without any reason and losing connection to the remote. I hope they will fix the bugs in further updates.

Agreed that it is a bit laggy......however yesterday I managed to get Stadia working on it, and was playing Doom Eternal with no issues - however the Stadia homepage was not showing all of the content. So far I've had no issues with freezing etc, but we'll have to wait and see. I think Sabrina may be my next port of call.

Try to replace the USB cable. I had the same symptoms, so I replaced the cable. I
Today received a new update with system stability improvements in the changelog.
