Google Pixle 2 XL Top Speaker Bug APP - Google Pixel 2 Themes, Apps, and Mods

Hello guys, iam an Pixel 2 XL owner since 3 weeks. After the first usage of my phone i get a call and i must see that the top speaker isn't making any noise during incoming call and alarm-clock.
So after that i start developing and application which can workaround this problem. Iam an hobby programmer from germany and ich want to show you my application:
My application will work with the top speaker. During an incoming call and alarm-clock my application will enable the top speaker. If you accept the call and activate the "Freisprech-Funktion", i do'nt know how it's called in englisch, the top speaker will work too.
I give my best to include an englisch translation. So iam sorry for this translation but i hope you can understand what i mean.
http s://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.loudspeaker

That would probably be "hands-free" in English. Did you post this in the non-XL section on purpose?
I am looking for an application that can check both microphones separatly, if anyone knows an app that can do this I would be grateful to know.

Just tested and it seems to work for ringtones for standard (non-xl) version of Pixel 2. Thank you, this is something I was looking for

To confirm, app works perfectly fine but there is few things that need improvement: App plays ringtones and alarms as media so if media is muted ringtone or alarm won't sound at all. There would have to be mechanism implemented to check ringer volume and set media volume to the same level otherwise phone ringtone volume setting is completely disregarded

OK, i try to check the ringer volume and set the media volume to the same Level.
Thanks for your reply.
Thanks for the english word "hands-free".
Iam from germany

Absolutely brilliant idea ?
After latest update the volume of your main ringtone... Fantastic.
Your contacts ringtone are equally as good!
Well done.

Can anyone please send me the link of this app?

Hey great fix! But I did just notice a bit of a bug, when adding a ringtone to your contacts it adds the phone number all wrong IDK if it's adding the phone number for your region
EXAMPLE : 1234/56-78-90 (this is how the app adds them)
123-456-7890 (this is the way I need the phone numbers to be added)
IDK if there's a fix or an update.
Also not to nitpick but it'd be great if there was an option for the NOTIFICATIONS tones as well.

One of the most annoying WM feature!!

Maybe I am "stupid" or smthing... but if I compare my HD2 f.e my last company phone Nokia E71 there is one really annoying feature:
- If I want hear my opponent nicely I need to change volume quite high
That is not a problem but
- Is there a setting or cab so I could adjust only ringtone and/or alarm volumes?
It is really annoying that after call your ringtone is REALLY LOUD...
Ok I know that I could take those wav/mp3 whatsoever and trim/adjust them at mpr/wav editor and change level but changing ringtone/alarms/speaker volyme have been different at least ten years in symbian phones.
Don't get me wrong I hate symbian phones!!
maby this will help
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609046
you have a dubble volumme controll one for ring and one for system
Just go to your settings-tab. Choose "Sounds & Display" untick "one volume for everything" (dunno how that point is called exactly, sorry). Done!
Why don't you read the manual. You can find the answer there.

You're not alone
Hell Yeah... I've put these setting allready before but those settings (including voice mail number) doesn't seem to keep in memory after reset...
Anyway "Ringer" means only volume of the ringtone? And system is all the other sounds? (f.e. including alarm clock?).
Anyway there is only 2 ways to adjust volume (an not so much behaviour) --> I need to do something audiofiles itselves because I would like to:
- Ringer is ok (but I would like a possibility to first ring and after 2-3 secs + vibration), or increasing ring with vibration (that is not possible to choose have to modify mp3)
- System is more complex if ringer is only ringtone!? Because from my point of view I would like to separate system soundsa, alarms and so on from volume of speaker when I am speaking.
Now if I put high speaker volume I also get high alarms and other sounds... Do you get my points?

I don't think Emui has a automatic option. But you can always set notifications to silent or vibrate only.
I suppose there would be an app that changes the sound profile according to phone activity, but never looked for it.

Unless using a specific app for that (with root?), no.
Well that sucks. I require audio notification. But it is way too loud in headphones. This is a deal breaker for me. Contemplating returning device to store...

I found a workaround for those who don't like audio notifications from SMS/MMS messagese in headphone while listening to music or watching videos. Install Google Messenger and use it instead. It seems that the Messaging app in EMUI is the issue. It's also weird that there is no option in the app to disable the "beep beep" sound that only happens when headphones are plugged in. Don't forget to set notification sound in Messaging to "None" and disable "Vibrate" or you may have notification from both apps.
OK now this is getting rediculous!! When on a call the person on the other end of the call can hear my calendar and text notifications. It sounds like incoming call "beep beep". This needs to be fixed as it is very unprofessional when on a business call. Please fix this Huawei!!!!

Yes, I get that too. The only way is to silent notifications and vibration.
People are talking to me and ask "what was that?", should have a option to disable it.
Also I haven't found any sound manager in Google play store. Probably only xPosed.

Could you try set up a ifttt script or something?
I've never done it personally, but I've seen others use it for problems, so maybe?
This seems like a bug asit does not always happen.

I'm experiencing this too, anyone has a solution for this annoying behaviour ?
I've written on honor 8 support forum, and they suggest to send my phone to an assistant center, but i think it is a software bug.
I can't really test this right now, but it looks like there is a way to fix it in settings. Under the Do Not Disturb section you can add a rule for an event and one of the options besides calendar events just states "Phone". That ought to squelch the problem.
For me I installed Volume Control + from GPS.
There is a free version but I did not test it on my Honor 8. Still the Volume Control + has controls to separate the Ring tone and Notifications volume so the work independently of each other.
To date this is the only option which works for me without Rooting my device..
Best of all you can manage your volume level for calls to system...
Now I can use the earbuds or phone without getting deaf while on a call or listening to music when a notification comes in...

Huh, mine definitely says Phone and it worked when I tried. I only tested on an outgoing call with my Bluetooth headphones, though. Hope you can find a way that works for you.

Notification sound when switching sound modes

Hey guys couldn't find much help on the web about this so here goes:
How can I disable the audible sound that my device makes whenever it switches from Silent / Vibrate to the Normal profile?
The sound is the one Google makes when you click the mic icon and are about to start speech to text.
Its really inconvenient.
Was wondering if this is just a Nougat thing or something different.
Thanks heaps.

Notification sounds not working.

I have 2 apps installed, WhatsApp and Ring Doorbell that are not giving me sound notifications. For me the volume on this device is not very loud. I work in a noisy environment and need loud volume. My last phone (Note 5) I did that sound mod changing the volume xml file and used very loud notification sounds (mp3) and it was perfect. So I took those sound files from the Note and put them into the Mi 10 Ultra in Ringtones folder and set them. Since then I get no sound notifications.
I did some digging and found an app 'Hidden Settings for MIUI' and set it to 'play sounds', but that didn't fix the issue either. I'm completely new to MIUI and am all out of ideas. Its strange, but when I open the phone, the WhatsApp notification sound beeps to let me know I have a message, but I have to open the phone, if its sitting in my pocket I get no notification. Ring Doorbell is not working at all as far as notifications go. Nothing. If someone who knows MIUI could give me some help it would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: shouldn't have wasted my time
That's it for me. SIM out and back to my Note 5. Great phone but the software is atrocious, if I had of known the nightmare this would be I wouldn't have bought this phone. So now it goes back into its box where it will stay, 6 months 1 year I don't care, until there is an alternative to using this absolute mess that MIUI is. A real shame, but something as simple as a couple of apps really is the deal breaker for me. Maybe I'll sell it? Global ROM? Who knows ....but for now its a useless device that can't even run a couple of apps? That is as bad as it gets. Its privacy settings are the worst I have ever seen. Disguised as 'protecting you' but in reality its the other way around. If I wanted to be locked out and locked in and locked down I would have bought an Apple iPhone. Xiaomi makes good phones, but their MIUI software is the worst I have ever seen. I would not recommend anyone buy this device.
I actually was facing this problem and found out a fix. You just have to turn vibration on. For some reason some apps don't make a sound if it doesn't have vibration on for notifications.

I have Ring doorbell and Whatsapp working (sort of) as sometimes they are delayed.
I had to change settings/notifications/ring and set rules for notification as important and also make sure all notification settings are on
Then fo to settings/apps/manage apps/ring and make sure Autostart is on and set permissions to make sure the bottom 4 are set to green ticked. Then make sure restrict data usage set to WLAN and Mobile data and then set Battery Saver to No restrictions.
Hopefully it will work after that. Do similar things to other apps that may not be making notifications correctly.
PS I'm using China ROM
So I had this issue and figured out a sure way to get sound notifications working.
You just have to turn vibration on in the subtype of notification for said specific app. If you don't want vibration on all notifications for that specific app turn it off otherwise.
Here is the thing that helped me with the same notification issue! Just google "xiaomi mi 10 ultra notifications" and in the top 5 links you'll probably find an article from:
theunpopulartraveller. It explains the settings, and they need to be accessed by pressing and holding the app icon ^ app info.
Don't give up, try and you'll get the sounds from needed apps back. And ye, actually now I find the way Xiaomi did it much more convenient: I just turned on notifications for 2 apps, and all the rest are silent, while previously I had to turn off all the rest of the apps (much more than 2, definitely) not to get disturbed by all the bull****.
