I am on a company call as we are patching servers and every time we bounce a server I get a bunch of text notifications which is expected. The only issue is I am wearing headphones for the call on my honor 8 and I hear the notification sound in the headphones. Super annoying! Any way to turn this off??? Thanks in Advance.

I don't think Emui has a automatic option. But you can always set notifications to silent or vibrate only.
I suppose there would be an app that changes the sound profile according to phone activity, but never looked for it.

Unless using a specific app for that (with root?), no.
Well that sucks. I require audio notification. But it is way too loud in headphones. This is a deal breaker for me. Contemplating returning device to store...

I found a workaround for those who don't like audio notifications from SMS/MMS messagese in headphone while listening to music or watching videos. Install Google Messenger and use it instead. It seems that the Messaging app in EMUI is the issue. It's also weird that there is no option in the app to disable the "beep beep" sound that only happens when headphones are plugged in. Don't forget to set notification sound in Messaging to "None" and disable "Vibrate" or you may have notification from both apps.
OK now this is getting rediculous!! When on a call the person on the other end of the call can hear my calendar and text notifications. It sounds like incoming call "beep beep". This needs to be fixed as it is very unprofessional when on a business call. Please fix this Huawei!!!!

Yes, I get that too. The only way is to silent notifications and vibration.
People are talking to me and ask "what was that?", should have a option to disable it.
Also I haven't found any sound manager in Google play store. Probably only xPosed.

Could you try set up a ifttt script or something?
I've never done it personally, but I've seen others use it for problems, so maybe?
This seems like a bug asit does not always happen.

I'm experiencing this too, anyone has a solution for this annoying behaviour ?
I've written on honor 8 support forum, and they suggest to send my phone to an assistant center, but i think it is a software bug.
I can't really test this right now, but it looks like there is a way to fix it in settings. Under the Do Not Disturb section you can add a rule for an event and one of the options besides calendar events just states "Phone". That ought to squelch the problem.
For me I installed Volume Control + from GPS.
There is a free version but I did not test it on my Honor 8. Still the Volume Control + has controls to separate the Ring tone and Notifications volume so the work independently of each other.
To date this is the only option which works for me without Rooting my device..
Best of all you can manage your volume level for calls to system...
Now I can use the earbuds or phone without getting deaf while on a call or listening to music when a notification comes in...

nothing yet? it's very annoying, I see a features about it, on android 7.1 but we haven't yet

Huh, mine definitely says Phone and it worked when I tried. I only tested on an outgoing call with my Bluetooth headphones, though. Hope you can find a way that works for you.

What is the best way to achieve decent Quiet Hours? Even in the latest 4.4.4 update today, it seems futile!
The pre-installed "Assist" app doesn't work well: there is no ability to choose what to mute during the quiet hours. My mum wants to mute texts and emails over night, but not calls. Assist is also buggy: volumes appear to get changed unexpectedly the following day, after a night of quiet time.
I tried an app from the Play Store called Silent Hours (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.silenthoursnew&hl=en_GB) but it did not seem to work at all... I enabled a profile for supposed quiet time, but an alert was still heard when I received a test test message.
Thanks in advance! :good:
(Edit: lol sorry for typo in thread title.. should be Quiet obvs, not Quit ... can't seem to edit that now. Admin? Thanks.)
Try this:

Thanks but that app doesn't seem let you choose between "what" gets muted. As stated, I want to mute texts not calls during quiet time.
I found another app that seems to have what you want:

You can tell it to allow calls from favorites or when someone calls twice. As for the volume being buggy, I have yet to see that happen.

Yes, I saw that option which sounds interesting for certain circumstances, if you have favourites set up, but it is not what I am trying to achieve.
The volume bug was reported by my mum, its her phone. So, cannot verify that as yet. I know there have been various other volume related bugs with this phone, according to the recent Motorolla ROM update changelogs however.

Yes it's the bigger bug of the Z3. Hope that Sony starts to investigate.....
Waiying new update
Solution
No need to wait to for an update.
1. Go to settings - sound - system notification sound: select no sound. Do the same with whatsapp settings.
2. Install lightflow. Go to lightflow notification settings, select and activate individual notification sounds for whatsapp, whatsapp groups, gmail, messages etc.
3. Go to lightflow volume settings, activate individual lightflow notification sounds and adjust their volume as needed.
4. Sorted!

Really? I was able to get a notification sound that was plenty loud. As loud as my previous phone LG G2. And with the same sound.
edit: Experimenting further revieled that my success was related to the notification sound used. I am using a mp3 tune from my sd cards music library. Choose an original sound from Z3 and the sound is weak again.
I used light flow, did not hear a difference between the sound. The volume is still low
have this issue as well. hope the new version will be able to solve this problem.
Waiting sony to start rolling an update, it takes time sony why others solve their software rapidely
Same issue here. Definitely looking for a fix to this or an update as it's quite annoying to listen to the sound and hear it plenty loud only to have it be really quiet (even at full notification volume) when receiving texts or other notifications.

Don't hold your breath on an update to address this, the Z2 has the same issue and it was never fixed by Sony. There was a sound mod though, but it required root...which may not be a possibility for some Z3s.

There's a silent mode action which you can set to on (silent), off or vibrate.

All the info you need in my prior post. The action doesn't work. The task works, other actions are executed when they should, the "silent mode" action isn't. Does the silent mode action work on your z3?

Well, no, there was no info; you just said that the action "didn't work". I couldn't tell from that whether the audio icon was changing, for example. Anyway, In my case, the icon changes and no sound is produced. This was me sending myself an email; perhaps different sound sources don't get silenced. I did notice a sound the other day when my phone was in silent mode (can't remember if it was Tasker provoked silence), which I thought was a bit crap; silent should mean silent.
Mine works fine. I imported my tasks from my Nexus 5 and, apart from the odd one that used root, they work fine including all the ones that use silent mode.
Silent mode DOES NOT affect the media audio channel, is it possible something is using that to play your notifications? Try adding the 'Media Volume' action as well and setting it to 0.

Great! I have an audiofile as ringetone, another one as message alert. Works now.
It doesn't work after all, media volume set to 0, silent mode on and the phone still rings.
Try installing AudioManager temporarily and use it to test what volumes are being adjusted by tasker.
Working fine here as well. I just imported my tasks from my OPO. Unrooted.
I use the app Don't Pause but is there something native I can enable that won't get killed in 5 minutes?

I leave mine in vibrate when I listen to music. You could turn off notifications for certain apps to if you do not want them to notify you.
Edit: You can customize some of what you want to come through in the do not disturb settings. I have mine setup for at night so that only calls & texts from contacts come in. If you did this, and only allowed the important stuff that might help too.

The problem is I do want them to notify me. I just want it to stop fading the music to a point where I can barely hear it whenever I get a notification.
Poweramp has a setting that will not pause the music for navigation, notifications etc. Just tested with a text and it works. I know it works with navigation as I use it in car

I updated to 9.0.3 yesterday. It didn't cause the loud ding at all. I think it may have fixed it. I'll confirm again later today, so far seems promising.
Just updated as well... Let you guys know
New update me the phone super Snappy FYI
I don't think there's a particular switch that you can toggle. Although, what you can do is, delete /system/media/audio/ui/InCallNotification.ogg and you shouldn't get that sound for every notification during calls. But then again, you need to have root access.
Just got a text while on a call and didn't hear a ding. I'm on 9.0.3, completely stock.
