Couldn't update my FRD-L09C636B386 - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

Hi guys, can someone help me out? I've relocked Phone and FRP unlocked. After factory reset, I still couldn't get OTA update on my phone. The security patch is 1st December 2016. I actually downgraded from custom rom to stock OS via Dload method. Now I couldn't get official OTA update.

I suggest to you to make a rollback for locked (not just relocked) device following my GUIDE and then make all the otas updates. If you can't recevie B399 you can follow my guide HERE.

So I tried your guide. With both FRP and Bootloader Unlocked from B386. First I flashed rollback package (Honor 8_Rollback Package_FRD-L09_from Android 7.0 EMUI 5.0 to Android 6.0 EMUI 4.1_C900B300_UK) then follow with firmware (Honor 8_Rollback Package_FRD-L09_from Android 7.0 EMUI 5.0 to Android 6.0 EMUI 4.1_C900B300_UK). Still didn't lock my back my phone to factory and still couldn't get OTA update. Anything I did wrong or missed out? I'm currently on B300.
Update 1: Next I'll try your second guide to force update on my device
Update 2: Successfully locked back my phone, currently on 1st December 2017 Security update, EMUI 5.0.1. However, I failed to install update2.zip update file though. Will that be a problem? I even wiped cache and low level factory reset my phone(from setting which I only managed to do so after I force reset from recovery beforehand).

Phone won't update to B571

I can't update my MT7-l09 to B571, Im currently on C900B560. Any help would be greatly appreciated in helping me to update to the latest firmware unless I am better staying on B560? I Have tried updating before without a factory reset and with a factory reset and both failed at 5%. Should I use the full firmware or just the OTA Update? A step by step tutorial would be great

Easiest way to get updates is to change region to eu and keep the phone unrooted. Guaranteed OTA updates when they come out.

By unrooted, do you mean removing SuperSU, as well as re-locking the bootloader? I have unrooted my phone, but kept bootloader unlocked, and changed my
region to EU on Tl10 B560, but I'm not getting any updates.

i was on B560 rooted and TWRP installed and didn't got any OTA. I used SuperSU's option to unroot and installed stock recovery. Quick reboot later, the OTA update appeared. Had my bootloader unlocked since day one.
In my particular case, I had 560 with root. Both updating through the OTA and full package 571 it returned an error. So removed root, hard reset, reinstalled 560 full package and the the OTA update was successful.

Little Help - Update ROOT Honor 8 from FRD-L09C432B131 to B360 (Nougat 7.0)

Hi All,
I would like just a little help on how to update correctly a rooted Honor 8 on MM 6.0 to Nougat 7.0 ?
Meaning from firmware B131 to B360 ?
OTA doesn't work, even when i disabled ROOT. I also tried bootloader to force update but it fails during the process.
Any idea what to do next? Do I need to relock the bootloader and remove TWRP before proceeding?
Thanks very much!
Unroot, flash stock recovery for the emui version you have
I guess this would also include a full wipe? Or is it possible to just update without wipe and still get a good result?

Official Nougat firmware for Honor 8 (FRD-L04; USA)

Hi,
Does anybody know when the official Nougat firmware will be available for the Honor 8 US Model (FRD-L04)?
I received the Nougat update via OTA back in February but downgraded to Marshmallow due to battery drain issues. I haven't received the update via OTA again, so I'm looking for official Nougat firmware to try it manually.

It is available, I have the B385 OTA update on my FRD-L04. Maybe check on your PC with HiSuite if the update can't be found from your device.

You can try Firmware finder to have the latest firmware.
Sent from my Honor 8 using XDA Labs
I received OTA Update of B385 on my L04 couple of months back in Karachi, Pakistan
I have downgraded multiple times to Marshmallow and have always reviewed the OTA update.
Incase you're not recieving it, unlock the bootloader, flash TWRP. Then use Firmware Finder to download the firmware shown in the screenshot below. Flash all the downloaded files using TWRP. You will be updated to nougat without wiping anything.
(In future, remember that all firmwares that end with PV can be flashed using TWRP)
Thanks for the suggestion on using FirmwareFinder.
I tried different packages from FirmwareFinder but the installation stops at around 5-6% and throws an error saying it's not compatible, even though I seem to have selected a FRD-L04 compatible Nougat package. So I gave up on that.
I'm a bit surprised to read comments that OTA update has been pushed even after downgrading to MarshMallow several times. I downgraded sometime around March and haven't received OTA update not even once (in the US).

Are you using Firmware Finder proxy / DNS method to install update or simply using dload?

Ah dload won't work to install the Nougat update.
As I said, unlock the bootloader and flash TWRP recovery. Then install those zip files from TWRP as you would install a custom ROM. However, instead of installing B360, you can install B385 update to be on the latest version. Use Firmware Finder to download the update but ensure that the update is FullOTA-MF-PV as shown in the screenshot attached.
Or if you don't want to unlock the bootloader, then no problem. When you hit the firmware in Firmware Finder, along with Download there are other options too. Select 'Get an update through DNS' and follow the instructions.

You won't get any Nougat upgrade notification until you update your device up to B162 which is the last MM version for your FRD-L04C567.
If your device is stock and locked you just need to push the B162 FullOTA (version 66280) using Firmware Finder proxy installation method. Then you should get the B360 update notification. But if for some weird reason the notification doesn't come up automatically, then go ahead and push the B360 FullOTA (version 72309) using the same FF proxy method. For B385 (version 83098) it will be the same procedure.
I've done it myself before and it works.

Reisntalling B385 stock rom to my FRD-L04

Hi guys,
I am currently trying to figure out how to reinstall a clean version of the B385 for my FRD-L04. I have downloaded these two files from the Nougat Update for FRD-L04 Honor 8 (USA):
Full ROM – http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G1585/g104/v83098/f1/full/update.zip
Data File – http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/...FRD-L04_hw_usa/update_full_FRD-L04_hw_usa.zip
I have tried to flash them both from TWRP, but I always get the error: Updater process ended error 7
Can anyone please guide me through the process and let me know what I'm doing wrong?
I have look for a guide or post where this is detailed, but without luck. Can anyone link me to a guide on how to reinstall the stock firmware in my Honor 8 FRD-L04?
Thanks! :good:
The best way (if you don't want to unlock bootloader) is to flash a downgrade package first, then dload the Marshmallow update and finally your preferred Nougat update though Firmware Finder.

Unlock your bootloader and follow this guide:https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/how-to/guide-flashing-unapproved-firmwares-t3668306/
Choose the B385 firmware or any newer firmware available for your region.
So I decided to finally reinstall the stock firmware in my Honor 8 FRD-L04 in B389, and this is where the nightmare began.
- I made a full backup with TWRP just in case and I decided I wanted to start from the earliest firmware possible available.
- I started unrooting my phone using the UnSU zip by Osmosis.
- Then I flash via bootloader the recovery and boot image of the firmware B360.
- I flashed the rollback package from the Huawei official site with the B122 firmware also available at the same place. I saved the rollback package in my root directory in the dload folder, and loaded it with the 3-button method. After this I wasn't able to boot my phone normally, I was stuck in a boot loop. I still continue with the next firmware, the B122, and it was successfully loaded (this also relocked my bootloader).
- It is important to say I clear many times the cache and wipe/erase data through stock recovery options, and also tried to erecover but I wans't able to connect to the WiFi. I guess something was missing (at this point I was already going crazy).
- I was still stucked at a boot loop after loading the B122, so I decided to unlock my bootloader and flash the twrp 3.1.1-1-frd.img
- From there I tried to wipe data and cache and system and everything, but I wasn't able because an error saying unable to mount always appeared.
- After rebooting, since I already had unlocked the bootloader, the initial message prompting: "press power to continue, press for 3 seconds for erecovery, etc..." appeared.
- I enter the erecovery options with the hope it will do something... and it did!!! I could connect this time through WiFi and the system asked to update the firmware and many other things it said at that moment. This was the first time I felt relieved through the night.
- The phone updated perfectly, it started at the firmware B122 and I kept updating it until I reached the B389.
- I unlocked the bootloader again and rooted the phone. And everything is running smooth as silk!
I know this is a very long story, but I just want to get it out there in case anyone is facing the same problem I just passed. Hope this helps someone and brings peace to them! =) Good luck!
I believe B385 is not functional with TWRP. Flash B360 and reboot to recovery. This should go to stock recovery, where you will have to do a factory reset. I got EMUI working, but it refuses to update to any newer version (it does show B380 but doesn't update). Also there should be updates after making that update. The updates did work for other people, so you may be able to have it working.

Huawei P10 Downgrade Problem form Oreo to Nougat

I have updated my Huawei P10 ( VTR-L29C185B172) to Oreo From Nougat using Firmware Finder. After Upgrading to Oreo, I thought Nougat was better. So, I decided to downgrade to Nougat.
So, using same formula I used firmware finder to install VTR-L29C185B172 update. It downloaded successfully. But, during installation process, It said that it
failed to check to update files, please download the package again.
Now every time I reboot or power off my phone It says that
Your device has failed verification and may not work properly.
I tried other updates of VTR-L29C185 but, nothing worked.
Then I follow some blog to downgrade my phone to nougat, but every time it stop at 6% and says that failed to check to update files, please download the package again.
I want to downgrade my phone to Nougat. Please Help me to downgrade my phone and take thanks in advance.
By the way my phone is not rooted.
I unlocked the bootloader using adb fastboot.
But last time i locked it using fastboot,
