SM-G920I AMOLED display misbehaving/broken? No real blacks. - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone, this is my first post in xda so I apologize if there's any error.
Everything started a couple of days ago, when I found a stuck pixel on my s6 AMOLED display. I had this phone for over a year now, and it always worked flawlessly. I installed some apps to fix this stuck pixel (it was kinda red) and first I spotted some new ones across the screen, but then after a couple of tries they disappeared. Next day in the morning, I wake up to see that my screen is kind of yellowish tinted, whites are not white but more like yellow and what bothers me the most, blacks are no longer pure black, because they have back light like if it was an LCD instead of an AMOLED.
I tried lots of things and realized that when the screen is displaying mostly white colors it seems to be alright, but if something dark appears everything automatically switches to this yellowish tint.
I already:
Wiped cache
Factory reset
tried with some "Burn in Fix" apps
Changed display mode
with no luck.
I found out that even in the boot logo and in recovery the problem persists.
I'm running 7.0 Stock, no root, no recent drops / water drops.
Please, help me, I miss my old gorgeous display :c
Some images of my problem:
This is what a pure Black wallpaper looks like:

Its hard to see, but whites are yellow tinted, at least more than before.

Please help
I'm going crazy, does anyone have an idea of what could be happening ?

Your display seems to have degraded. I recently sold my 2.5yr old S6 which was fine as far as display is concerned; your issue seems to be rather strange for just a year old device. Do you by chance regularly use very high brightness level?
I don't have any solution that I can think of; but curious to understand the cause.
On a side note though, see if Samsung Service Centre is ready to take a look at your device and fix it (if this is due to any display connectors being lose)

Hello, and sorry for the delay, strangely i haven't got any notifications about this topic so i thought no one replied.
I regularly use medium to low brightness level, but now that I have this problem I have to use it on high or max because otherwise its hard to see anything, especially while reading.

It's highly likely that your display/display connector has gone wrong. Visit Samsung Service Centre to get it checked; they will check for free and quote you for repairs if it is something that can not be fixed without parts replacement.

Got a Problem with the screen (Very Unhappy)

Hello all, i have myself an 02 XDA Exec, but during the light of a soft reset
the screen is now working with fault
it looks like there is some sort of high contrast or the in could be bleading on the inside, but the touch feature works, will display pictures
Notice how the screen has different shades, but also patches in the corners of the screen, as ive mentioned the touch sensetivity works fine but the screen looks to be a bit pixelated and and in a different sort of contrast (i am currently reading up on the dis-assembly of it so if its something internal please say something about it)
and no i havnt banged it, smashed it, tried beating it up etc, i honestly dont know whats happened to it.

this is my today screen after a hard reset, basic windows mobile default, look at the different tones of colouring, the sort of slashes across the screen and the shades in the corner of the screen, and im not sure why, although i dont think it really can be ink bleading as when the phone is turned off the screen is as it should be, just off.
Now i will try out the camera on both sides, from the phone and from my camera
Camera's Side
Notice how the screen is in a sort of negative/contrasted style, not one im enjoying thats for sure, but coming from the phone the results are different
Exec Camera
notice how the camera still processes the image properly
which leads me to believe something is wrong with the screen
maybe some part of the frame is being pressed against it or something like that
i will be monitoring this thread closely and please help
With Many Thanks

Does it have this pink tint in reality too? (not only on the shots?)
If it does (and a hard reset doesn't help), then, one of the color transfer wires may be dead or have "only" developed a contact error (or, plainly, they have just been removed from their socket. This happened a lot with other models.)
That is, I'm pretty much sure it's a cheaply fixable problem. Try disassembling your casing and try to rearrange the wires.
pink/purple tint, but the screen apears in perfect shape
any guides on getting into the screen,
thanks very much.

Skyrocket camera reddish tint in middle of scene.

I've noticed that when using my Skyrocket camera indoors, especially during the day, that there seems to be a slightly reddish hue around the center of the photo. This is noticeable in the display while I'm viewing the scene, and in the final photo. I am using auto white balance. I also notice that when I view a scene under incandescent lights using auto or incandescent w/b, the center has a greenish tint while the surrounding area is slightly reddish.
The following photo of the off white wall was taken in the early afternoon with ambient daylight. I was wondering if others with a Skyrocket have noticed the same thing. I just want to try to figure out if this is a normal condition with this phone before I go back to the AT&T store to demand an exchange. Thanks.

That wasn't Kool-Aid, that was wine. Lol.
After doing some experimentation, I have discovered that the light pollution from my LCD TV and my PC monitor in a room with ambient daylight seems to be the culprit here. I am somewhat of a photography buff and understand the effect of different types of light on digital photography, so I tried turning my monitor and TV off, and the reddish tint disappeared. My real cameras don't have this problem, but I guess the camera on this phone isn't quite up to the task of properly adjusting to different light sources at the same time. Anyway, I'll just have to be aware of this whenever I take photos indoors.
I'm still interested in hearing about your results, though. Thanks.
Oops, spoke too soon. I tried it again this morning and got the same red splotch. Maybe the lighting was different earlier. Anyway, I did some more searching leaving "Skyrocket" out and came up with several threads about this in the Galaxy S2, and other forums. Seems to be a common problem with the white balance in a lot of phone cameras, so I guess I'll just live with it.
reddish hue in middle of scene in camera
Sorry to bring up an old post, but I recently purchsed this S2 Skyrocket and have seen the same issues. I was about to call AT&T for an exchange, but could I be safe to say, i just need to adjust white balance?
There has been no other replies so either you and I are the only ones and need an exchange or others are just not replying.
Hope others can chime in.
Thanks!

Note 10.1 artifacts on screen and colours distorted

My Note 10.1 is having a weird issue with the colours on the screen. Basically one day it started displaying the sort of screen corruption and visual artifacts you normally get when you overclock a video card too much or your SLI cable isn't in properly. The corruption occurs during normal operation, during the boot logo and even in download and recovery mode. A firmware reflash had no effect. If I take a screenshot, the screen looks like it should (i.e. it's not in negative mode and the system thinks it's displaying the colours normally). I'm thinking at this stage either the screen itself somehow got damaged, though I'm not sure how, or a cable has come loose/been damaged somewhere. Has anyone seen this before or have an idea as to what is likely causing it?

It happened suddenly, one minute it was perfect the next day it looked like the picture. I'm thinking it's just a lose video cable, either that or one of the colour channels/polarizer is missing. I just realised that Samsung has a two year warranty though, so hopefully the repair is free, assuming they don't try to pin the blame on me.

I'm actually asking if this problem comes suddenly one day or keep occurring more and more...
I guess it might be problem of the battery, since it occurs less when it is fully charged or highly charged. Yeah, we know Samsung is notorious in bad battery quality

Help with a probably fake Mediacom tablet

Hi everyone, I need some help with this tablet I got a couple of days ago and that I'm trying to fix. I just need some opinions from someone that maybe already had an experience with such a problem or someone more expert than me. On the back it says it's a Mediacom tablet, but I don't think it really is... It says "SmartPad 7.0 S2 3G", however the model number written below says M-MP7S4A3G, which is the model number of the SmartPad 7.0 S4 3G. And this thing doesn't look like a SmartPad S2, it's black and doesn't match the pictures of the product from the manufacturer. It also has a clean Android ROM in it, without any Mediacom customization or app (maybe someone replaced the ROM... I don't know... but that model number discrepancy doesn't convince me).
By the way it runs quite well, and I would like to keep and use it, however it has an annoying screen flickering problem that shows up and increases its "blink-rate" the more I use the tablet. If I put it in standby mode and let it cool down, the problem disappears, until it gets hot again of course (please note that I'm just guessing when I say that the screen flicker is related to the temperature, it could easily be another kind of problem). The flicker also appears in recovery mode so I think it's hardware-related.
When it occurs, the colors quickly change and then come back to the correct ones, with a variable frequency that seems related to the temperature (again: just an assumption, better to say the frequency is related to "how much time you have been using it", from what I can understand). I can also see horizontal lines when the blinking occurs. If I keep using the device, after a couple of minutes, the wrong-colors state takes over. If I'm viewing a black and white page the problem isn't noticeable.
I opened the tablet and tried to move the display connector, also disconnecting and reconnecting it after cleaning the contacts, but without success. I also tried quick-freezing various parts of the board with liquid nitrogen, but that didn't affect the blinking (this is why I say that the relation between the flicker and the temperature is just an assumption... I mean, I cooled almost everything under 0°C and it was still flickering).
Then I read online about people having screen flickering problems after software updates or ROM changes, so I'm a bit confused. Do you think that this problem could be software-related? Maybe the display drivers in the kernel are messed up? I would really like to flash a clean ROM but I'm not feeling good about that, I don't know what device this really is... On CPU-ID it shows an MT8312 platform, but the MediaTek Flash Tool identifies the chip as an MT6582 (uhm...). I'll attach a couple of pictures of the device with the CPU-ID screenshots. I'll also attach the screenshots from a genuine SmartPad 7.0 S2 3G that a friend of mine has (they're the ones taken with a camera capturing the tablet screen).
So I'm asking a more expert person, how should I proceed? Maybe I can backup the whole MMC and try to flash something? What ROM should I flash then? Or would it just be a waste of time because it's certainly hardware-related? If so, is there something I can do with the board? Maybe I can try to reflow the SoC or the display controller IC (in case it's not integrated in the SoC) with an hot-air gun?
Any suggestion will really be appreciated. Thank you very much in advance and sorry for my english if I made any mistake, and also sorry for the long post.

Screen Spots Issue (Mostly Visible In the Dark)

HI Guys,
Just bought my Galaxy S8+ and unluckily, i have come across some color spots and grain spots on my Galaxy S8, which is visible in the Dark.
Kindly find attached the pictures, i have taken in the dark with another mobile and help me to analyze is this a real defect that i should worry about or is it same to all of you.
If yes, I' am gonna take it to the service center and let them do a refund or exchange with a proper one!
Feeling disappointing !

Is this a joke?
Hi There,
This is not a joke, this is of concern.!
Kindly check if you have same device and let me know if you face similar issues with the reference to above-mentioned color spots.
I dont see anything mate, sorry.
Hey Mate,
Difficult to see indeed. But is it there, can't screen it better as this is all in done in dark room where light is switched off.
Please also ensure to use the same THEME/WALLPAPER as Samsung has its Default. Mostly it is visible on this theme.
If nothing then it means it is a problem of my S8+ and i have to return or exchange it.
Those screen spots are your time/date widget and your edge UI tab. On the power menu you simply get a opaque image of whatever is was on your screen beforehand. I've been staring at these pics for 10 minutes all up now and I honestly reckon you're over thinking it. Put the microscope away and enjoy the phone bud!
I don't see it clearly. Maybe its a burn-in issue? Nahh, it's too early to tell. Try changing your screen resolution if it's still there.
Thanks guy for your encouraging messages
I have changed display and it is still same, however what i did is that i have change Theme and it has better results now. I need to ensure i am wrong and not overthinking of it too much. Hence i have taken this to the shop where i bought it and they confirmed the same. Gonna take it to the repair service and let them check from their end.
In case this will be defect, Samsung needs to really worry about this!
It's native blur

Your post is really confusing and I can't tell if you're trolling. In the first picture you posted, you literally circled two UI elements (a clock and two icons) and then said they are "grain spots." They aren't "grain spots." It's literally the exact same clock and two icons shown in your second picture, but they are blurry because (1) you opened the shutdown menu, which blurs whatever is in the background, and (2) you made it even blurrier by taking a blurry picture. Seriously, what are you trying to say with your first picture?
In the second and third pictures, I don't know what you're trying to circle. If the issue goes away when you apply another theme, I'm guessing you are seeing variations that are inherent to the actual wallpaper itself.
Finally, what do you mean by "I have changed display." Do you mean the wallpaper? Or do you mean the digitizer itself? Or do you mean the phone as a whole? If it's either of the latter two, then the problem is with the wallpaper that you're using.
If you're talking about the blotches on say, this power menu, they are all normal, part of the blue view.
Hi Guys,
I have checked two other phones as well. All of them had similar Grains visibility in the dark area/with no light.
It is impossible to take pictures in the dark without flat and make sure it is visible.
Anyhow, i am gonna keep observing and see if this blotches will increase. By Changing display, i meant i have change SCREEN RESOLUTION from the highest to the standard one and still it has similar results.
Last but not least, i have change theme and the issue is more or less gone.
Mine is really bad. I haven't seen this since the Galaxy s2 TMobile variant.
The whole top right corner is red as well. Sure the update helps mask it, but with blue light filter turned on, it's there.
They assume to prevent this from further update which is going to be patched soon
