Deviceidle_Maint Wakelock on SGS 7 Battery Drainer - What is it? - General Questions and Answers

Dear all,
I bought a SGS 7 about a week ago.
It's unrooted, but I enabled Gsam via ADB and use Greenify. The Built in Battery Monitor I turned off.
Unfortunately something seems to drain battery in standby mode. I lost 10% battery in 2 hours without using the phone.
The wakelock on top of the list is called "deviceidle_maint" - I searched the internet and also through forums. There are mentions of this wakelock but nowhere I could find explicitly what it does, what it is caused by and how to turn it off.
I would ask your help on this matter.
My Gsam stats: https://ibb.co/nCpcnR
Thanks for the great support guys!!!
Best,
Marc

so by now I know it got something to do with GPS. but even if I turn off GPS, this wakelock still is no.1 in minutes. Which other system tools or apps use this functionality?

up, i have the same wakelock

Up....Up...Up

same wakelock "deviceidle_maint" on s22 Ultra

I have 32 wakelocks with 6 minutes for this "deviceidle_maint". Has anyone found anything about it?
[Device: Galaxy s10+ Exynoss, heavily debloated].

[Q] 3 hrs of screen time...defective battery?

Hello all!
I recently received my OnePlus One and have had it for about 5 days now. I love the phone, but I seem to be having a problem with my battery. I've only been able to squeeze about 3 hours from this phone. Coming from a Note 2 (which also has a 3100 mah battery) I was expecting to get about 6-7 hours of screen on time. Could I have a defective battery? My screen is only at about 25%-30% brightness most of the time.
I attached a screenshot of my battery life. Thanks!

Can you post the complete battery graph, maybe wakelocks draining the battery... If not then seems like I also have the same problem. Not doing anything but it drained 11% of my battery.

I've charged my phone since this so I don't have the graph anymore. However, I notice that by battery drains 1-2% per hour on standby.
Your screenshot shows absolutely nothing. Your battery is not defective. You obviously have wakelocks that are preventing your phone from deep sleeping.
You need to show:
- Wakelocks (Partial Wakelocks, CPU, etc)
- Overall battery stats
I wouldn't be surprised if its Google Play Services.

I've attached more screenshots. Sorry, I'm new. What is a wake lock?

Well those screenshots don't really help now since you charged your phone. When you charge your phone your previous battery stats are dumped and new stats start to appear since you've unplugged.

In simplest terms, its a app on your phone that is preventing your phone from entering a deep sleep mode. So even though your screen is off, a app on your phone is keeping your phone awake as if the screen is on not allowing the phone to enter a deep sleep mode (very conservative on battery).
Can you download GSAM Battery Monitor and look at the info that gives you? And which ROM are you on?
Check if your "Ok Google" turned on, i had mine turned on and it was draining my battery as it was not letting my phone to sleep.
Google Search -> Menu -> Google Hotword detection
And yes Double Tap to Wake might also be another one .

I have used BBS and GSAM before, but I think GSAM is better. However, in the latest update some of the menu options have changed names.
Could you explain what each one is for? I can see Kernel Wakelocks, which one is 'Partial Wakelocks' now? Should I be looking at any of the other tabs?

In Gsam, click the vacuum icon on the bottom left of the screen. This will tell you which apps are using the most battery. You can then click on an app from there and see what exactly it's doing. When your battery gets low, see what comes up as draining a lot of your battery and post back.
As to partial wakelocks, idk. Let's just see what is draining your battery.
I prefer Wakelock Detector. Gsam is not too bad though. I just prefer the simplicity of wakelock detector

OK so I have let my phone run without charging all day and here are the stats. I could only get 3 hrs. of screen time...pretty crappy. Anyway, my brightness has been at about 60% and GPS in battery saving mode. Please help, as I love this phone, but would hate to get rid of it because of battery issues.

I get almost close to 6 hours of screen ontime , but yes most of the stuff like GPS / NFS is turned off when im not using it ..
Like i mentioned did you try to turn off the " OK google " stuff , i had experience of it waking up device quite often and draining my battery, try turning them off ...
Other place to look out for what is walking up your device most of the time and deny them the access to wake up your phone , to hunt those apps , check
settings -> privacy -> privacy guard -> menu -> advanced -> device tab .
I found my facebook app / google play services was constantly waking up my device when on sleep , i denied "keep awake" to boost some more battery life ...

Check on what's keeping your GPS on all the time. My GPS is left on, but when I'm looking at my battery stats for the past 24 hours and it's maybe 3 or 4 slivers where the GPS actually turned on for a moment when I used an app to find my location.

Annoying battery drain due to GPS related wakelock

Hello guys.
I'm new to the forum, as you may notice. I've been reading posts for a few years, but just now I feel the urge to post. Recently I bought a Samsung Galaxy S6 (G920I); I love the performance and everything about it. Still, I've got this huge problem with the battery.
It goes from 100% to 91% in 1 hour or so, when the screen is off and wifi on. If the wifi is off, though, it just discharges about 1.5% per hour. I tried Greenify, Amplify, Powernap, Doze...but nothing worked. I used BetterBatteryStats and Wakelock Detector in order to find out what's causing it, and there are 2 wakelocks that keep the phone awake about half of the time when idle.
bcm4773 wake_lock (which is related to the GPS, sensor hub, as far as I know)
NETLINK (I've got no idea whatsoever)
All of this is really frustrating since there's almost no info on Google or the forum itself. I came up with some posts about a kernel that supposedly fixes this problem, but unfortunately, it's made for Galaxy Note 4. I used already three different kernels as well, but it hasn't helped at all. I'd really appreciate any help. I'm really stressed about this.
Thank you so much in advance.

How can I find what is keeping my phone awake all the time?

I recently bought a Lefe Blade X8 (can't find any details online about this model, it was very cheap and had decent gear so I bought it) and I'm satisfied with it except one thing. Battery is draining so fast even when I'm not using it. So I checked the battery stats in the options and saw that phone never goes into deep sleep, it's always awake. Then I started the phone in safe mode to see if it was an app causing it, I left the phone running in safe mode at night and checked the stats again.
Here is the stats: (It seems I can't post the image link as a new user) %100 to %50 in 12 hours without using the phone, WiFi %22, Phone Idle %20.
It seems that I have a Wi-Fi problem, as you can see at top Wi-Fi was off all night but at the stats screen it seems like it was on.
I installed Wakelock Detector and checked the kernel wakelocks, and the biggest wakelocks were ttyC0 and EINT. I will share a detailed Wakelock Detector screenshot when I got the chance.

High idle WiFi battery drain/power use. Share your GSam Battery Monitor Statistics

Are there people out there who mostly use their OnePlus 6 with WiFi yet your phone is mostly idle?
What's your average WiFi battery drain? Could you please upload your main GSam Battery Monitor Screen?
My phone is connected to a WiFi router (2.4GHz 802.11n) and the signal strength is excellent. On average my OnePlus has a 10 mAh discharge rate which is several times higher than for my old Nexus which is connected to the same WiFi network.
Here's my data:
20% of 50% of battery used for 31.5 hours.
3300/31.5*0.2*0.5 = 10.48 mAh.
No one uses OnePlus 6?
Actually, people don't left their phone in the corner for days, so you know, you never know.

I use a PC up to 16 hours a day. Not everyone is obsessed with Instagramming or twitterring. I only use my smart phone when I'm en route and I occasionally use instant messengers.
Those who've replied < 6mAh, could you show your GSam screenshots, please?
What type of WiFi router do you use? What WiFi standard? Do you have MiMo enabled on it?
If you rock your phone with that minimal usage, I recommend using ElementalX kernel and LKT magisk modue with battery profile, I'm getting way more battery with this setup compare to stock one (about 4 more sot). But you'll get 30% more lagginess

I wonder how a custom kernel might help with the WiFi module battery drain. I barely receive any notifications and according to GSam my phone is in deep sleep mode most of the time. There's something else wrong but I've no idea what exactly.
Why does no one post GSam Battery Monitor screenshots?

Cause no one use their phone like you do, and it's pointless to measure your phone for fun.
BTW, as you describe, you may encountering oneplus most famous problem, "super deepsleep". You might wanna turn off battery optimization of your apps which send notification and turn off all advance battery optimization (deep optimization, sleep standby optimization).

Here:
Battery Saver: OFF
Adaptive Battery: OFF
Battery Optimization: Not Optimized Apps: None
Advanced Optimization: Deep Optimization/Sleep Standby Optimization: both OFF (I don't want to enable these two because I'm afraid I will start missing notifications from apps).
Am I missing something?
Edit: what's specially funny is that the guy who posted OnePlus 6 battery optimization guide has the same issue though he doesn't admit it. If you take a look at the screenshots he posted, you'll immediately notice that his WiFi usage is the second worst battery offender after the screen.
I still wonder why almost no one cares.

Deep Sleep Battery Drain (ROOT)

Hello, I'm on OnePlus 8T with Pixel Experience.
A few days ago I rooted my phone and I installed Greenify to hibernate apps and use Doze mode. Also I underclocked CPU with fkm.
Yesterday I checked my battery stats as a common day with AccuBattery and BBS (attachment), and I see that, in 10hours of Deep Sleep my phone used 35% of battery.
Can anyone help me to solve this problem? I leave the BBS statistics attached so you could better understand where Is the problem.
Thank you in advance!
Modern versions of Android (11-13) don't need additional apps like Greenify to be installed.
Doze mode works pretty agressively out of the box.
The problem seems to be in bluetooth which woke your phone with 1.4 alarms in a minute.
