Deep Sleep Battery Drain (ROOT) - OnePlus 8T Questions & Answers

Hello, I'm on OnePlus 8T with Pixel Experience.
A few days ago I rooted my phone and I installed Greenify to hibernate apps and use Doze mode. Also I underclocked CPU with fkm.
Yesterday I checked my battery stats as a common day with AccuBattery and BBS (attachment), and I see that, in 10hours of Deep Sleep my phone used 35% of battery.
Can anyone help me to solve this problem? I leave the BBS statistics attached so you could better understand where Is the problem.
Thank you in advance!

Modern versions of Android (11-13) don't need additional apps like Greenify to be installed.
Doze mode works pretty agressively out of the box.
The problem seems to be in bluetooth which woke your phone with 1.4 alarms in a minute.

[BIG] Battery drain

hi everybody, since one or two weeks i see i have a big battery drain when my phone is "inactive"... how to resolve this please?
Your screenshot doesn't tell us anything. Further debugging can be found using BetterBatteryStats / Gsam / Wakelock Detector, root is required.
A app is preventing your phone from deep sleeping.
The only thing your screenshot does show us is that Play Services is there, http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guide-google-play-services-battery-t2832525
View that to fix that but theres definitely more to it than Play Services.

I don't understand your question. In actuality, it takes a couple days for your phone to settle in the new kernel if thats what you're asking.
As long as your phone is properly deep sleeping, you shouldn't be worrying.
You can find out by using 1 of the 3 apps I mentioned previously.

i say, is it possible that the battery drain comes from new kernel?(AK)
also thanks for your help dude, and i modified googleplay services as you've told me with my fresh install of cm11...
I have 2 days of battery life almost and still have 20% left. I use this phone heavily and haven't recharged.
I had the same problem where 60% drain overnight.
Now 2 says.
All I did was turn off Facebook Location services.
That's it.
Facebook was draining so much. I have Wifi on, GPS with High Accuracy.
Facebook always drains a significant amount of battery, I prefer using the mobile website but if you must need the app then greenify it.

Deep Sleep % at idle?

I am curious what others are seeing in terms of deep sleep percentage and as a direct consequence battery drain? I have no 3rd party apps installed yet on my phone and have Google set to sync only Inbox, Pics, Chrome, Contacts, and Calendar. I also have most of my apps set to close with screen off. I only keep Inbox, Hangouts, and Nova Launcher running. With these settings I get a deep sleep % of about 85%. Whats really perplexing the awake time (with screen off) is over 3 hours over a 48 hour period which results in about 1.5% battery drain per hour. I know from previous experience with Android that this is mainly due to power wakelock which is essentially apps syncing. However, with all my other phones I usually get about 95-97% deep sleep at idle and a battery drain of about 0.3-0.5% per hour.
So my question...what are you getting in terms of deep sleep percentage at idle and battery drain rate per hour?
i noticed the same on my mate 9 after latest firmware update after few days but havent figure out what is causing it yet

Wow! I would love to know your setup to achieve this. Is this with wifi and mobile networks on? Data on? What about other settings? Are you using any 3rd party apps to manage the battery? Overnight my phone drains about 0.5% per hour.

This is overnight time so there is no wifi and network data. I have root and debloat all huawei apps. Currently there are about 100 apps on my phone and there is no app managing battery except the stock huawei one. You can go back a few pages to see what I use in my normal days. Currently I start to play a new game with my friend, it's called Valkyrie Connect and with this phone I can handle it for about 6-7hrs of playing game at 40% brightness with 15% battery left. Let it settle for a few day then see if it helps.

Battery Drain Op6

Hello everyone, I was recently inrroduced to the world of rooting, modding and installing custom roms and kernels to the device so I may sound like a noob here and there . I have a issue with my one plus six running stable oos 9.0.2 where I think I habe have high battery drainage, there are people who claim that their op6 lasts a whole day at one charge but I being a heavy user have to charge it up to 3 times a day. I have currently rooted my op6 with magisk installed and the list of mods is attached below, also the bbs stats are attached too along with all the necessary information, I am currently on the Ex kerenel Manager and have the battery settings turned on along with advanced optimization. Also I am using the lawnchair launcher v2 with pixel 3 live wallpapers coupled with the mod provided for aod . Can anyone tell me what should i remove to make my battery life more optimal or if my battery is fine.
So 10.2% in one hour, while playing pubg. Seems normal.
Yes, thats fine but the idle drain is way too high.

Could be the always on display. What does your partial wakelocks look like? It's likely an app keeping it awake

Have you also tried to disable the second Sim?
The pixel live wallpaper will do a number on battery.
Two Sims, live wallpaper and aod. You problem is right in front of you.
The AOD will suck quite a bit of battery, for me during the day i get around 2/3% par hour of standby. My graph looked like yours at first.
But, try putting it in you pocket when you don't need to have it on a table, etc. With OOS 9.0.2 and Franco Kernel, i get 0.42% per hour of standby while phone is face down during the night and thus AOD disables.
I'm not even trying to maximize battery, have Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and other apps running, Wifi + LTE, location disabled, with a fresh install of latest OOS stable and Franco Kernel r13 without tweaking anything :good: And i also use the Pixel 3 wallpapers, wich by the way look amazing used with the AOD.
Screenshots for illustration.
The OnePlus is not designed for Always on Display, but even with that, it definitely shouldn't be empty in 6 hours. But with heavy gaming, I believe the phone life tested at about 5 hours. You should see what it looks like when you don't game.
I get about 8 to 10 hours Screen on Time with with browsing, facebook, and casual use. I have 1 Sim, no live wallpapers, no Magisk modules. I also disabled the Ambient Display on lifting phone. (I probably did a few other small optimizations, but can't remember)

No, I checked on my partial wakelocks and they are running net scheduler max for a 3-5 minutes in an hour and I can assure they are not the problem.

Wow Dude , your phone ui looks quite minimal and clean, are you using any launcher or icon pack? Also i have my location turned on always so can it be a deal breaker? Now as I focus, i think location too is sucking the damn battery off. Also while using Franco kernel do you have any problems with the brightness, I can't seem to disable low brightness while using the manager. My idle standby is too damn high thought averaging 2-3% even with the aod off. I think I mighy now consider a clean format.

I'm just using OOS 9.0.2, OnePlus icon pack and stock launcher, everything stock !
Location services seem to use quite a bit of juice yes, saw very good results while disabling them.
Yeah I saw this brightness thing in the Franco app, but looks like it doesn't do anything, or it's a bug. I flashed blu.spark and the brightness is exactly the same ! I wouldn't pay attention
Idle standby on my end is 0.5%/h with Franco and Blu.Spark. So it's definitely ROM/setup related ! A clean flash should solve it !
Try Servicely from Franco to revoke WakeLock authorization for apps, I feel like it helps a ton with social apps too !

hey guys I have huge battery drain issues and I can't figure it out. I am using a second sim, but I need that second sim (is there a way to disanle it, so that i can get phone calls?)
Did a clean flash yesterday, hoping things get better, but nothing. my phone used 14% in 6.5 hours . BBS shows me Net_scheduler, I tried somethings there too but no success.
what could else be the problem?

Considering you just said 14% in 6.5 hours of idle drain, it is a bit high though. Have you any mod installed or have Aod by chance, also how long does the net scheduler work? Also do check the summary for if the phone goes into the state of doze or deep sleep, id it does the problem might be with kernel wakelocks, i tried disabling the wakelocks as per the boeffla wakelock and ffs I can notice differences.

yeah, I get about 2-2.5%/hour on idle.
I should mention my setup, sorry:
OOS OB7
XxX installed, with disabled kernel tweaks
blu_spark kernel, but had also smurf no difference
I flashed a debloater from Tomatot (thought it might help)
no aod
Well, my phone is awake(screen off) quite a lot, but not too much, saw some others with insane battery life (not expecting that) with similar Awake time.
Sorry to ask this noob question, I am fairly new to this.
In BBS I see repeatatly net_scheduler , gcm, nlpcollectorwakelock, ddscardselectioncontroller.
Boeffla isn't it just for OP3-5T?. are there other settings I could change in tje kernel manager etc?
thanks a lot!!

Do you get that on Wi-Fi or also on mobile data? I get about 0.8-1%/h on Wi-Fi and up to 2%/h on LTE+ without music playback on OOS 9.0.2. i can tell you it's mostly an app that hides itself in the stats
E.g. Pokémon Go's adventure sync used GPS and datan regularly resulting in an awful 4%/h drain.

High idle WiFi battery drain/power use. Share your GSam Battery Monitor Statistics

Are there people out there who mostly use their OnePlus 6 with WiFi yet your phone is mostly idle?
What's your average WiFi battery drain? Could you please upload your main GSam Battery Monitor Screen?
My phone is connected to a WiFi router (2.4GHz 802.11n) and the signal strength is excellent. On average my OnePlus has a 10 mAh discharge rate which is several times higher than for my old Nexus which is connected to the same WiFi network.
Here's my data:
20% of 50% of battery used for 31.5 hours.
3300/31.5*0.2*0.5 = 10.48 mAh.
No one uses OnePlus 6?
Actually, people don't left their phone in the corner for days, so you know, you never know.

I use a PC up to 16 hours a day. Not everyone is obsessed with Instagramming or twitterring. I only use my smart phone when I'm en route and I occasionally use instant messengers.
Those who've replied < 6mAh, could you show your GSam screenshots, please?
What type of WiFi router do you use? What WiFi standard? Do you have MiMo enabled on it?
If you rock your phone with that minimal usage, I recommend using ElementalX kernel and LKT magisk modue with battery profile, I'm getting way more battery with this setup compare to stock one (about 4 more sot). But you'll get 30% more lagginess

I wonder how a custom kernel might help with the WiFi module battery drain. I barely receive any notifications and according to GSam my phone is in deep sleep mode most of the time. There's something else wrong but I've no idea what exactly.
Why does no one post GSam Battery Monitor screenshots?

Cause no one use their phone like you do, and it's pointless to measure your phone for fun.
BTW, as you describe, you may encountering oneplus most famous problem, "super deepsleep". You might wanna turn off battery optimization of your apps which send notification and turn off all advance battery optimization (deep optimization, sleep standby optimization).

Here:
Battery Saver: OFF
Adaptive Battery: OFF
Battery Optimization: Not Optimized Apps: None
Advanced Optimization: Deep Optimization/Sleep Standby Optimization: both OFF (I don't want to enable these two because I'm afraid I will start missing notifications from apps).
Am I missing something?
Edit: what's specially funny is that the guy who posted OnePlus 6 battery optimization guide has the same issue though he doesn't admit it. If you take a look at the screenshots he posted, you'll immediately notice that his WiFi usage is the second worst battery offender after the screen.
I still wonder why almost no one cares.

Extreme battery drain

Hey guys, got the 7 pro. I'm really happy with it. It's great. The only thing pissing me off is the battery drain. I'm getting 2.5% idle battery drain with oos, XXX and smurf kernel... That's not good. Everyone else on the idle drain thread is getting less than 1%! I have tried loads of things, like blocking wakelocks, installing different kernels and some Extreme battery saving stuff. I really don't know what's causing it. I would really appreciate it if someone could help.
Thanks,
Faaris
I am using skydragon kernel with greenify root. I found that Google home app was draining battery while idle because I was casting from my phone. I suspect Android Wear would cause battery drain. But that's just my opinion.

Unless you tweaked something crazy in the kernel settings you have a rogue app. Something has gone Hannibal Lecter on your phone. If I were you I would start freezing apps one by one until you find it. if that doesn't do it I would reset the phone, and add in your must haves for the couple days and if all is well, add the extra app in 1 per day and see. It could actually be some leftover files from a firmware update and a factory reset will do the trick.

Are you using Swift installer by chance? I found out that that is a major culprit. It rapes your cores - keeping them much higher than above the three or four percent idle mark. If you have Swift installer, it's a piece of **** and uninstall it.
Naptime is a good app to reduce standby drain by force dozing. It took me from 1.5%/hr to around .5% per hr. I also disabled zRam in my kernel settings to eek out some extra battery.

I use Swift Installer and I don't have this issue (Havoc OS and SmurfKernel, not happening with OxygenOS either).
Average CPU load goes between 2% and 3% in EXKM app when I'm not doing anything special with the phone.
CPU statistics don't show anything wrong as to clusters frequencies. With light usage, deep sleep and some of the lowest frequencies for each cluster account for about 45% of the total.
I have about 1.2% - 1.4% drain per hour over night with airplane mode enabled.
