Hi
Will this work on mate 9 for oreo 8 update ?
A bit confuse as some said it can, some said can't due to ramdisk problem.
Please do help me.
-want to install magisk (safetynet feature)
-want to use it daily (my only phone)
-want all the function to work properly
- mha-l29 8.0.0.360 (c636)
As i scroll all the replies, it makes me confuse.
I don't want to hard brick my phone.
Thanks.

I don't think it works yet.

Oh i see.
So, for now it's only works with nougat until they sort it out.
It's okay, but I do hope they make it works for oreo asap as i can't downgrading back to nougat.
Oreo gave me a better battery life, performance and stability.
Thanks for the quick responds ! :good:

Does not work yet.

I guess its okay to update here.
For those whose bumping into this thread,
Magisk for oreo 8 is working guys.
You can check this link : https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/guild-mate-9-magisk-t3666540/page5
Just follow the @ante0 instructions.
And be sure to read all the comments as it would help you if there is a problem.
And there's new version of magisk (15.4) !
For nougat, just turn into page 1.
Credits to @ante0 and @mankindtw. :good:
*Btw, mine's working perfectly fine !

There wasn't a TWRP on HUAWEI club yet. I'll update if there is a newer version.

It will work with all STF models, including EU.
Sounds nice. That means Lineage or other unoffical roms for honor 9 will come out soon.

No. TWRP is not enough. We need kernel source from Huawei for that.

Well, not exactly, TWRP only means flashing root or modified stock ROM is possible now.
Can you please put one tutorial to do that?
Thanks

Kernel source might be different, since some specs are different,
Because if we only consider chipset, one from P10 should work as well. Since both using Kirin 960

Nothing. They would stop developing for a certain device. Look at Honor 6X. They built LOS13 but unstable, and did not go on to LOS14. It is extremely hard and time consuming, if not impossible, to develop for it.

I just executed the installer. But unlike stated in the OP the installed TWRP version is 3.1.0.0. Unfortunately this version doesn't seem to work (None of the partitions can be mounted) and it is really hard to boot back to system as most tries to reboot the device end up in TWRP again. Only booting into bootloader and reboot from there resulted in a normal boot up for me.

I don't think is a fail, is a just another phone from Honor. Just marketing H8, H8 pro and of course must H8 lite because Honor 8 have good selling numbers (similar story is with Huawei P8lite ... best sellers so we must make new remake and hope will be again best seller)

No "stay awake" with face recognition after root

Hi guys,
after unlocking bootloader and rooting my Honor View 10
it seems that the phone does not keep itself awake
when i'm looking at it, like it used to do before rooting.
It was such a super helpful feature :crying:
Is this caused by rooting process,
and anyone else experiencing the same issue?
Thank you!

Hi thank you for your reply
I'm on BKL-L09 version 8.0.0.140(C432)
Rooted with Magisk via pretoriano80 custom TWRP
Faceunlock works just fine, very strange.
Any suggestion? Maybe try a factory reset?
In order to do so, how should I proceed being on Magisk and custom TWRP?
Thank you!

Thanks for the reply,
fortunately I had the official 141 update available (I was on 140)
So I ended up flashing the official recovery and just launched the full update from the settings.
Then reinstalled custom TWRP and Magisk and now all is working fine.
However will save and keep in mind the method you suggested for future reference, that would be perfect if no official updates are available for restoring.
Thanks again mate!
