Might be a substratum theme issue

Probably, but I'm not using substratum, just an modified overlay. I was having the same problem on nougat version without modified overlays or any substratum theme.

My another device have this issue too since N, so it's normal :silly:

color inversion?

figured i'd try again. are there any xposed modules or root apps that can invert the entire android system? just a basic setting that invert the video output of the gpu. not switchable apps, not one-off apps, something that can do general system inversion
If you're talking about something similar to the color inversion feature in ios7, I don't think there's anything like that for android (wish there was). You can apply a theme to change the System UI, but it won't be completely OS-wide...you would have to install individual apps like you said. Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but here's the thread for the theme I use:

Do you know some theme like this?

No theme is not there. But there are individual apps which change lock screen and control center.

Modify Statusbar icons with Root?

I remember back on Marshmallow I think with older phones, substratrum with root would automatically patch up the statusbar icons to match whatever theme you are installing. I've noticed now that on Pixel / Galaxy S8 / Pixel2 with root, we can't seem to modify the statusbar icons. There are some substratum add-ons on the store that claim to fix this but it seems they are Samsung - specific addons.
Is the only way to do this with a rooted Pixel 2 is through some Xposed module?

theme development isn't quite there yet on our phones. definitely give it more time until custom roms and stuff make there way out. also xposed just went live so give devs time to update things to 8.1. however @Tulsadiver has made some good mod progress with 8.1. he managed to get a working Aroma installer which can do things like mod status bar icon colors. try that out for now.

but if you want to go beyond that then yes xposed is going to be your best option. have fun.

Are there any navbar overlay apks for Oreo available yet?

My old overlays from Nougat do not work anymore
Are there any black, transparent, and height changing apks out there yet?
Those would be the golden 3 if I could have them working again. The combination of the transparent and black overlays hid the buttons while keeping the black bar and small toggle dot. Height adjustment would be nice to make it smaller for more screen real estate.
Thanks
I was looking for same : s8+ upgraded to android oreo and all the overlays stoped functioning
Not sure about layers but substratum will work with Oreo.. apaprently "once you on Oreo overlayers that aren't from Substratum will no longer work so this thread will die soon once everyone is on Oreo."
Instead of Sungstratum along with Substratum you will need Andromeda. Below is a link on XDA for an Oreo Substratum theme with links to how to install Andromeda.

How to easily modify existing Theme

I reluctantly upgraded to android 10 and the basic Black theme I was using is now showing up with White notifications instead of black.
Is there a quick and simple way to modify an existing theme. I suspect not, but figured I would ask.
You could use,#hex or synergy to make a custom theme.
Alternatively if you wait until tomorrow, Goodlock and its apps are supposed to be OneUI2 compatible (3 Feb) Quickstar is the app that mods quick settings and notifications. Works on non root.
Thanks I've heard of hex installer but never used it. The other 2 I've never heard of. Will any of them allow you to edit an existing app or are you starting from scratch on all 3?
Thanks
I just installed hex installer, was not anything exciting. I was able to change the notification color but my default sms app had undesired affects. Hex installer alone will probably not cut it.
Will look at the other 2.
Im using synergy and substratum lite, with mainly liv dark and a few other themes where liv dosent have an overlay .
My current notifications are set to the overall background and i used an overlay to remove notification separation bar.
Thanks for the tip. I'm going to request to samsung to see if i can get their development tool for theming. Likely won't get far but worth a try
