Anyone else having issues with video? I have to use the stock camera app for videos since this crashes every time I switch over. Would love to be able to use only this app if possible.
Thanks

Stock motorola camera app? I think pixel camera its better

After using the gcam mod for months I have found the real limiting factor is hardware for or z2 force. While my pictures don't look horrible they certainly don't look great like the pixel or s9.
I'm going back and forth on picking up a s9+ this weekend for the camera and future proofing the Sprint merger.

Anyone know if HDR+ GCam works with Hasselblad camera Moto Mod?

Can you please share which apk you are using and which setting for gcam?
stock ROM?
I avoided all galaxy phones since the bootloader is locked in USA for sprint version.
the international version does not have CDMA 3G and 2G band coverage.

@Arnova8G2 Is the 5.1 version posted on the thread the recommended one for Z2 Force? On version GoogleCamera_5.2.025-Minimal-Beta-Final the video option never worked, on the version GCam_5.3.015-Pixel3Mod-Arnova8G2-v4Beta2 the video works but the camera "shutter UI" does not appear, only a black screen. If I disable the camera:gcam_enabled option, the camera works and the video option crashes (Can't connect to the camera message). If needed, I'll root the phone to be able to provide you the logcat. Thanks a lot for the awesome work and support!

So there isn't a single apk that is fully featured?

Any update on this? Camera crashes when taking video. I wish Moto would add selfie portrait mode so that we don't need to use this.

If you have android 7.1.1, i suggest you to install the version Arnova's v7beta9, for me Is working very well (including the video ). The video Will crash if you select the option from inside the camera app,but if you try to launch the option outsite the app selecting "take a video" after pressing the camera icon a few seconds, it Will work.

I have cstark version and with your suggestion now I can take video! Thanks!
I noticed we can also tell Google Assistant to take a video and it won't crash.
How about we gather some $ and donate this phone to a dev so he can do a proper port of this since there is going to be no flagship phone this year.

Shaky, is there a media_profiles.xml in here? I think it may be linked to the camera issues

Are you on the right thread? (Cause you mentioned building camera into source) lol
last time I checked, media_profiles.xml contained image quality too, Someone e-mailed me on camera and showed me a logcat, they were going in the right direction, I'm curious as to who it was, anyone here?

The fact that it was missing. It seems to control the encoding and decoding of the video. When I added it, the camera stopped force closing on video but wouldn't start. lgcamera started recording, but wrote only to 0 bytes files

ahhhh okies I see, so you have been looking into camera, I thought you were joking lol, I understand whats the problem, some of the encoding decoding isnt supported atm, also camera drivers arent ready, but its good to know lgcamera make video come up, so it writes 0 byte files, which build is that? android 4.0.1 sense 3.5? or an aosp build?
You da man shaky. Can't wait to get it running. Let me know if ya need testers for these early builds.

Mx Player Audio Passthrough and Sw decoding

Hello.
I have mx player on my vorke android tv box. I have the Audio going into a pioneer av receiver and have pass through working, dolby and dts lights up on the receiver, but only in HW mode.
Now the thing I have noticed is the picture is a lot better when using Sw decoding. I don't know why but looks like the processor handles it better, sharper, more detail, only downside is the audio is downmixed to stereo.
Please can someone help, is there a work around to get software decoding on the video, and hardware audio passthrough? I've tried many combinations but cannot seem to get it to work?
Or is there a custom codec that does not downmix dolby and dts 5.1 to stereo ? Any help appreciated.

Hi,
In the latest version, there is an option to prefer audio passthrough over internal decoders & it's enabled by default.
Are you using the latest version of the app?
I'm not sure if I have the latest version. I'll check tonight. Thank you for the response.
Just to clarify. If this option is selected, within the video playback screen at the top right will it still show Sw?

Hi I have version 1.9.9. I have the option use audio passthrough over internal decoders selected. All my sw decoders chosen, but video still only plays back in hw allowing passthrough. If I switch to sw whilst playing video, the audio is down sampled to stereo.
By default the video always opens in hw. Should it not be opening sw with passthrough enabled?

Just clear the history & reset the MX Player settings from Settings » General.
Now open the video in which you are getting audio passthrough in HW & not in HW+ or SW.
Change the decoder from the Title Bar of the playback screen. Check both HW+ & SW. If audio passthrough is not working, immediately open menu > help > bug report. Save the report & share here.

Our developers are working on it. In some devices pass through won't work with third-party implementations.
Looks like MX Player couldn't detect the connection status of HDMI. Does it work with any other apps?

Passthrough does work but only in HW mode. Not software or hw plus

Because, HW decoder uses mediaplayer function implemented on Android itself. Pass through is automatically done by the system. HW+ & SW are MX player's implementations. If it can't detect HDMI, it may not be able to pass the audio.
Our developers are investigating about it. We will try our best to improve the same.
Does any other app work with audio pass through? I suspect it's a limitation from the box.

Thanks for the help. Only other player I have tried is vlc and doesn't seem to have passthrough working. Would Netflix count? If it was a limitation from box wouldn't that mean hw would not work with passthrough? I find it a little confusing. Or is hw still software passthrough only programmed by android, mx player feature still does not work for all systems?
Could it be the hdmi cable? High speed etc? I think I may be using a newer cable.
Any other help you can recommend?

I have just answered for the similar question on another thread.
HW decoder is using mediaplayer implementation which is built on the system itself. Audio passthrough is done by the system itself. But, Third-party apps mostly depend on the APIs provided by android. They can't directly access the hardware. MX Player will try to detect the capability of the HDMI receiver. If it's not supported or not reporting properly, then Audio pass-through won't be used.
On my android tv ac3 5.1 is not working.
I dont know where is the pass through setting, or it's automatic, but it's not working.
In archos player/kodi/spmc I could find the pass through setting, and it's work.
Am I do something wrong, or I have to wait for the developers?

After playing a sample file, can you collect a bug report a from MX Player help menu and share with us?
Any progress?
