Active apps manager - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

Hi everyone!
Exist a app to work as app manager or profile manager and create profiles based on usage?
Example: I like edit videos on my S8+ during this process I not like have any other app open or running in the background. I would like have a app that when I select the "video edition" profile kill all other apps and prevent that this apps running until I change again to the "normal" profile. With this I know that all the resources are available for the video editor app.
Some ideas?
Thanks!
PS- Better for non rooted devices

Interesting idea. I haven't heard of one, but I'd imagine that you could do up a Tasker script for each 'profile' you'd like.

[REQ] .apk Manager.

I'm looking for a .apk Manager.
Not for one on my phone, or to organize the apps on my phone.
What I'm looking for is a Windows application, Win7 64bit compatible, that will organize my 4.7gb worth of .apk's i have on my computer. Ideally, automatically detecting version numbers, and removing old versions of the same app etc.
Good idea, I just use appbrain on my phone.
ps: change the title to [REQ] as there is no app in here.
Sounds like someone had fun downloading a lot of apps?

Ahh yes, i should have had it [REQ] vs [APP], you are right. I cannot find a way to change the thread title tho, or i would happily.

<smirk> links are not allowed on here for that sort of thing, but sufficed to say, i use two websites to <cough> obtain <cough> my apps.
Of that 4.7gb of .apk's I'm sure at least 30-40% of that (hell quite possibly more) is outdated versions. Just too much hassle to manually sort through them all.

Android permissions management - LBE Privacy Guard alternative

I've found a new way to BLOCK ANY permission for android applications! Successfully tested denial on few different kind of permissions!
It's a great news for me, and prossibly to any of you too.
The application will be completely native except user interaction part (GUI), so lightning fast, and will have access virtually to any permission granted by apk itself. There will be much logic included to ease of use for unexperienced users, but also the advanced mode which will reveal all the system level functions/data. Advanced iptables control will probably be included also at the later development stages.
Any developer experienced with NDK + SDK is kindly asked to contact me.
PS. This thread WILL be the thread for the application itself. I expect to make first alpha's in two months or earlier.

Of course. So let it stay at pm as you already started . We'll move here depending on the case .
I am interested but I am not a developer.
The question is - did you check apps behavior (reaction) on permission denial?
I get FC for some software with this tool market.android.com/details?id=com.stericson.permissions&hl=en

I cannot check this on every app available (for obvious reasons), but I suppose most of them will work. We'll see after first alpha, I'll check it on my own app set which is rather big (the main reason LBE and PDroid buth fails - too much CPU overhead).
UPDATE: Removing unreliable info. Shame on me for reposting smth before fact checking.
Privacy Blocker is the app with patching apk method, not the Stericson' one.
frsp2 said:
I've read somewhere on local forum that com.stericson.permissions application just changes manifest and reinstall apk with patched one.
This info is not mine so I can't prove or disclaim it at this time.
Can you confirm that info is correct and your method is totally different?

As far as I know, neither the app you describe, neither mine will not change anything in apk. I think it was just a rumour.
Could you please comment on this app too

What app?
Privacy blocker should not run in background - it patches apk content.
Modified files:
classes.dex
MANIFEST.MF
MYKEY.RSA
MYKEY.SF
I see no reason to drain battery here.

Nice chat guys, but first of all, I just told that neither permissions denied nor mine app will change the apk, so asking me about commenting such app is quite inaprioriate, and second, there are two threads about LBE wher even I said my opinion about it, so please, go there and read .

I am asking because of the same software niche not because of the same principle of operation. If your application solves the same task/problem with less overhead - that's good. We'll see.
BTW is your app must be run in background all the time?
If yes what will be the effect if your program terminates on error or is closed by external application?

Only effect it would cause is no GUI, but denial still working. GUI can be simply restarted (or restarted automatically).

Sehr gut! This is the right way to go.
Also is your future app support real-time notification of permission requests?

Probably not. I know it's a good thing, but it has it's flaws too. We'll see later.

[APP][PDroiD2] Configuration

Hello,
I just patched pdroid2.0 into CyanogenMod 10 via ApG, everything went fine.
How do I configure PDroiD in a sensible way? I do want some apps (especially some system apps) not to be able to read contacts, call log etc.
Do I have to pick every app (93 of them after a "vanilla" install) and check/uncheck permissions by hand? Is there a way to have PDroiD show which apps want to access the call list and deactivate them with a single click? LBE Privacy Guard has this nice feature, and I would love to use it - if there is - with PDroiD.
Thank you and have a nice day!

I agree with you, that it is not selfexplainable. As it seems we are both thinking that the configuration needs some more explanation or a template or something like that. But other than agreeing I unfortunately cannot help you because I have the same questions as you do ...

Hi,
I'm going to install PDroid2 too.
Apparently, there is a batch mod to apply some configurations to a set of apps verifying some rules.
I think it's a little like titanium backup

[Q] HTTP GET request via Llama w/o opening browser

Hello,
I'd like to figure out a way to use Llama to send an HTTP GET request to my home automation system. In particular I wish to turn the power to the charger on and off based on battery percent as this tablet will be mounted on a wall. Since Llama seems to require opening of the browser to do this, I'm assuming this would require another app. My question is, does one exist? I just want a shortcut that will execute a HTTP request in a completely invisible fasion. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Yes. I wrote my own little app that will create shortcuts. It's not in the Play store but I could try to send it to you if you'd like.
I find a solution with the app Tasker. This app could send an Http request but i have other issue. The better way will be to make my own app. If you could send me your version, it will be a great help for starting.
(Sorry for my English)

I just sent you an email with the apk attached. I just downloaded the Tasker trial and wasn't super impressed. Perhaps if it were free I would've made use of it but I enjoyed the opportunity to learn a little about Android development. What was your issues with Tasker?
Let me know if my app works for you.
Hello !
I'm also looking for a similar solution.
I use Llama and I need to update my Android GPS location through a HTTP POST.
I really don't want to use tasker... Do you have clues for me ? I'm able if needed to create an APK.
Thanks !

The little app I wrote is only designed to make a static HTTP request. In other words, it won't be able to read any Llama variables or anything like that. However, it probably wouldn't be too difficult to modify the app to support what you're looking to do. I could send you the source code privately if you promise to send me back your changes.
@mrceolla Could you send me the app and source code. I shall send back any changes I do.

[APP][TASKER] MyNotes v1.0

MyNotes
Post #1: App introduction, download link, credits, screenshots attached.
Post #2: FAQ / other info.
Hello!
I've spent last days in making an app for taking notes. Initially, I wanted to make a shopping list, but then I decided to make an app which allow me to take notes because there are moments when I need to take a quick note. I can't upload it to Google Play because I don't have my own money ( and I'm almost 21 already... ).
I'm still a Tasker newbie
FEATURES:
☆ Possibility to save the current text from text field to a .txt file in a folder named MyNotes, along with the date and the clock when the text was saved. You can save text to same .txt file as much as you want.
☆ Enable a shake option to launch MyNotes.
☆ Enable a persistent notification, which after is touched will run MyNotes.
☆ No ads
That's all the features. I've wanted to add a color picker too for changing the theme, but it went troublesome for me and also then I didn't think themes are that useful for an app like this.

NOTE: This app was created on my phone, a Samsung Galaxy J5, with a 5.0", 720x1280 resolution screen. It might look weird on other resolutions.
FAQ / other info
1. Who are you?
I'm Robert (Force @xda). I've created this app using Tasker because there are moments when i need to write a quick note and read it later. I'm sure that there are apps much better than this, but i wanted one made with Tasker. I'm addicted to Tasker, but i still noob
2) Why are required network permissions?
Tasker added the permissions automatically according to app actions/features. I've added a button named "XDA thread" which open the xda thread. The button purpose is for writing bugs/reviews/suggestions. There is also a "SHARE" button to contact me through email.
I can remove these 2 buttons if you are concerned. I can also share the xml project.
3) Long press the buttons to see what it does.
4) I would like to know your review, your suggestions and also let me know if you found any bug.
5) The .txt file get saved in the folder named MyNotes in your phone internal memory (most likely /sdcard/ or /sdcard0/).
6. The "X" icon or phone back button minimize the app, so it saves the current text in textfield.
I'm waiting your opinion / review / suggestion
Thank you!

Sure. I've attached it to this post. It isn't that clean, for example the main scene is called SHOPPING because initially I wanted to make a shopping list. I didn't rename since I've exported it as app.
Let me know if you have any questions regarding the project file, or if you think I can make "the code" cleaner.
Also, if you wanna make your app or something and wanna share it, I would like to give credits to me if you are using scene, only if you mind. because I've spent few days working on
Please let me know your opinion about this app, good or bad review doesn't matter, but I want an honest review
Thank you!

Thanks.. but as you can imagine I am really noob with tasker so also with this app I really don't know where to begin to use S pen with your project... what I would like is the features to open your project when spen is removed and use the pen to write inside your notes...
Really difficult for you?

As far as I can see on internet, you need a plugin to do that. It can't be done alone with Tasker.
This is what you need: Note Buddy (S Pen Helper) . It does what you're looking for, and you don't have to use it with Tasker.
Please check it.
