I got a HTC phone from a friend and I do not know how to find out the model. Also it does not have an OS on it and I am looking to find out how to install one. I read a few of the threads and could not figure out what the terms meant. Such as OTG, RUU,ADB, TWRP, ETC. So I am not able to follow. Please assist me if you can.
I found that I have a HTC One M7.
So, is there anyone who can instruct me on installing an OS?

Hi All,
I've been trying to perform a sim unlock on my One X (Running 3.16.61.6 software, CID ORANG001), however I keep getting an incorrect password when I input the unlock code. I'd previously unlocked the bootloader to root the device, but have since relocked the bootloader and restored a stock boot and recovery image, all to no avail. There doesn't seem to be an RRU that matches my software version available however.
If I go to the hassle of getting the phone to s-off, is there some way to then obtain sim free? This has clearly been a learning process, in the future I shall do a sim unlock *before* rooting or otherwise adjusting my phones! However my girlfriend wants my old phone now, and keeps pestering, so any help would be appreciated!

I know what it says. The HTC One XL / at&t One X (Evita) and the HTC One X (Endeavoru) are two very different devices. You're in the wrong forum.

i have the tagged and branded verizon version cuz i had no choice but did someone ever extract the htc one unlocked rom so i can flash it and get the htc one m8 rom experience without the bad Verizon experience? i looked through the roms a little bit and asked google but couldnt find anything that seemed to be just a straight pull from the original m8

Look again. I don't know if you mean a ROM like the Google Play edition, or the M8 with all the HTC stuff, but minus the Verizon bloat. Either way, there are several of the latter, and one (at least) of the former).

I have an HTC One M7 Sprint (m7wls) or (m7spr) and after my contract runs out, I was planning on selling my phone to them (becuase I own it), but they have AT&T. I know that AT&T has a different partition layout, and I read something about having to change the MID, but couldnt I just download and flash the AT&T RUU? Or do I have to do anything else?
I read an article and found out most of everything, I just want to make sure I'm doing this right.

I have an HTC One M8 (rooted & security off), running Cyanogenmod 13, with latest TWRP recovery.
I have bought another HTC One M8 and would like to copy/clone everything from my old phone to the new one.
How can I do that the easiest way - preferably without having to do rooting and Security-OFF on the new phone?
