I recently (a couple weeks ago) picked up a US unlocked U11, and it immediately updated to Oreo. It's been great except for one MAJOR bluetooth issue. I have a 2013 Hyundai Elantra and my phone refuses to pair with it. It pairs with other headphones, just not my car. A co-worker has the same model year car and it will not pair with his either, so the problem definitely lies with the phone. I previously had the ONE M8, the EVO 4G LTE, and the EVO 4G. They all paired to the car with no issues. I reported it to HTC but haven't heard anything. It's amazing to me that they would have a new flagship phone that isn't backwards compatible with some car's BT. Hopefully there will be an update soon that fixes it. Or how easy is it to root this phone? I haven't rooted my last 2 phones (the M and the EVO 4G LTE) so I'm a bit out of the loop on the process, but maybe that would fix my BT issues.

The problem lies with Oreo itself unfortunately, not HTC. There's a lot of threads you can find about Oreo breaking connectivity to cars, I myself have a 2011 Kia soul that I haven't been able to connect to ever since.

Ah I appreciate that bit of info. As a long time HTC user I'm glad to know HTC isn't at fault here, cause I love the U11. Hopefully the 8.1 Oreo update will fix the BT issues.

Same thing happening here with a pre-retina macbook pro. Bluetooth pairs then disconnects on the MBP side.

when i called in to buy a new headphone, the guy told me to go online and purchase "Desire" accessories and that they will work on nexus one, and they do ship to usa (only accessories) not the actual phone. GREAT COLLECTION THERE
THERE IS A HEADPHONE THAT SUPPORTS THE FM RADIO(sweeeeeeet) time to ask paul about good luck (TONS OF STUFF ) Most will work for nexus one i bought lots of stuff $126.89
Here is the link

SOME WILL NOT WORK ON NEXUS, but the screen protectors obviously will work
I recently bought the stylus, works like a charm. Good for keeping finger prints off the phone
Lets hope the headphones get the FM radio working!

Peripherals won't activate inactive hardware, especially when there's no code to support those peripherals.
For FM I use the Sony Ericsson MW600. The thing comes standard with a SE X10 so it works fine with the N1. The only thing it doesn't do is list the song on the headset. The FM radio lists the song though.
Did anyone else order???????
i will report as soon as my headphone get to my house, i'm soooooo excited about fm radio.
oh by the way i ordered android sleeve like the nexus1 one. i think it will be alright.

I bought an EU Desire Charger last thursday, arrived yesterday (did import the N1 with US Charger which doesn't work in germany.. got tired of charging via USB)

No the Sony Ericsson MW600 has the FM radio. It's not playing through the N1, rather, the headphone set itself.

thats good, but i found out that its expensive.
I rather get my $575 phone to run a radio, and not pay another 100 for just a radio,if my phone is capable , then it will happen
i just cant believe i paid that much money for accessories. YES CALL ME CRAZY
I even bought all android devices that are available for us t-mobile
have anyone purchase anything that actually worked
I HAVEN'T RECEIVED MY STUFF YET(probably because it coming from UK to US)
its a good thing the website I guess BUT dam those are expensive items, is that general prices in the UK ? you can get about the same thing for allot cheaper in the US or Canada,
updated
P.S. sorry got a bit confused with the exchange rate, but they still are more expensive then if buying in the USA.

So let me get this straight...
You think buying some headfones from HTC's site that say for the FM radio will get this working?
Can you not see how crazy that sounds?
Does the MyTouch 4G have a TV out via RCA cables? I realize its not included but does it have the ability of it built in like the Vibrant does?
I checked my settings and have not found a tv-out setting to enable like my old vibrant. It does have a new media sharing app that is supposedly going to link up via connected WiFi pods. I haven't messed with it too much.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
You can share whats on your phone via a wifi network and the "Screen Share" app that is powered by "Twonky"
This is one feature I have been really hoping for so that I could play my gensoid/snesoid games on any TV with RCA inputs. It's one feature that I haven't had on my Nexus One.
Can anyone confirm that that it either IS or IS NOT possible to have wired video output on a MyTouch 4G through either the mini-USB port (like Droid Incredible) or the 3.5mm jack (like the Vibrant) ?
That kind of sucks, didnt use it much on the vibrant but it was nice to have, not every tv is capable of the wifi sharing but every tv has an rca input

I don't understand why you want to put HD Video on a Tv with RCA jacks. I used DLNA network share on my Droid X. Never once wasted my time with a cable. I have since moved to T-Mo and will be getting the MT 4G on launch day.

I just read a review on chipchick.com that says:
"All in all, the MyTouch 4G display is not quite the best display out there on a smartphone, but it’s still excellent and easy on the eyes. T-Mobile also offers a $14.99 accessory that lets you connect the MyTouch 4G to a TV display via component input. This is a neat feature to have, although we wish it would have been HDMI."
This article says that it DOES support video out, via a component cable that T-mobile sells. Is the article wrong?
ok, at this point I've actually BOUGHT the phone, and I still don't know the answer for sure. The tmobile people have no clue either way.
the article I listed above says it DOES do video out, with a cable from tmobile. Can anyone prove or disprove this?
any word?

Yeah, it works great. I'm pretty sure there are already youtube videos showing it done. I've done it, but was awhile ago and I forgot where the tv out enable is in the operating system..

I'm unable stream music using Bluetooth - it is a mixed bag. I was able make it work with Honda but with the Infiniti the music keeps skipping every 2 seconds.
I tried deleting and reconnecting the phone and also disabling beats audio but no success. Has anybody else having issues streaming music in their car?
Receiving calls etc works correctly.

Same here
I have an M37s and I'm having the same problem. Works fine with Ford Sync and any other device I connect it to but in the Infiniti it skips
does it skip, as in skip tracks? or does the music cut out?
I don't know how many of you have Parrot Blue Tooth systems in your car, but the HOX works perfectly with it. Excellent call and music quality.
music cuting in and out.....just saw this looks like infiniti is blacklisted

Well Red5, since you closed my thread about a similar, but different issue...i guess i'll add another one here. Mine is like i'm holding the next track button, the audio is not cutting out. It's a www.gromaudio.com ipd3 unit. I didn't have this problem on my old Atrix 2.
That's odd. It works (well) with my Infiniti on the international version. The BT radio is discrete from the SoC so either HTC's using a different BT chip in the XL or it's s/w. Hopefully it's the latter can be addressed with updates.
Working well on an Evoque. But I've noticed that the track information doesn't sync with the media console. If I use my iphone, I can see the name of the track on the Evoque's display, but no luck with the HOX. Has anyone experienced this?

Of all the cars I've read reports of BT issues with, Infiniti is definitely the worst. My boss at my old job had an Infiniti (can't remember the model) and it wouldn't work with his iPhone 3GS. AN IPHONE FOR F**KS SAKE! It works with "everything!"

I had a 2011 and now a 2012 Infiniti and haven't had an issue with the i9100, iP4S, iPad2, G-Tab, and now the One X (international). What year Infiniti(s)? They changed the head unit (assuming you're referring to cars with Nav) in 2009/2010. There are also unpublished updates so you may want to check with your dealer to see if one's available. I got an update at my last service.
Android doesn't support album/track/artist data natively so that's why it's not displayed. Samsung's newer TW devices are the only ones I've seen that do and that's because Samsung's written the code for it and only via the stock media player.
I have '12 M with the nav system.

Thank you - I have the Parrot CK3100 and was wondering if my One X (in the mail) would have any issues.
As much as I love this phone, i'll be sidelining it until this gets resolved. My phone is my main source of audio in my car. I can't even listen to anything at the moment for more than a few seconds. So i'll see you in a bit! I'm keeping the phone for some android development, but i'm back to my Atrix 2 for the time being.
I can't even connect with my Kia. The phone never sees the vehicle at all. I had no problems connecting this car with the Galaxy SII. I'm wondering if my phone is just bad?
2012 fx here, bluetooth also not working : <
For this many fails it has to be s/w. Broadcom makes most phone BT chips and if the international's fine I can't see why the XL wouldn't be. Not good news in the short term but either AT&T/HTC or the devs should be able to fix it.
This is most likely what's inside. It's used by Asus, Samsung, and Motorola. It'll be interesting to see tear downs to understand what's common between the X and XL.

I tried the following tests.
Attempted to pair LG Bluetooth hb700 and could not pair with HOX.
Attempted the same with Samsung galaxy tab 2 and it worked correctly.
Tried the same again with plantronics backbeat 903 headset but was unable to pair them with both the Samsung galaxy tab 2 and HOX.
Both these headsets are working correctly. They pair with iPhone. I removed/unpaired the from the iPhone bfpre doing these tests.

Infiniti G37S
Gents,
2010 G37 S. Just traded in the iPhone 4 for the HTC ONE X. Never had an issue with the iPhone connecting and playing spotify/pandora via bluetooth. Now with the ONE X I can receive and place calls but can not play music via bluetooth stereo . I have taken the vehicle to the deanship where they "preformed" an update to the bluetooth but again does not work. Might go back to the dealership. Hope someone figures this out!

hey y'all,
(I had this in general, but I was sent here into Q&A, so here I am!).
I have been considering a new phone to replace my (very) old Captivate. The Cappy has been a great phone, but the hardware is finally starting to wear out, and I am finally starting to feel the lack of power. The One S is now dropping to around $230 used off-contract, so I am thinking that could be a fun purchase.
My worry is only one : buying into a device that is having reliability issues. Has the One S held up? Anything I should look out for in a used device?
Would you recommend it for $230 used? I have other phones I am considering - $230 seems like a sweet spot for Galaxy S II or galaxy Nexus ... I know I could a dd a little and get a Nexus 4, but that "little (about $150) is a little too much for me.
Thanks
I'm not sure about everyone else but I;ve dropped my phone plenty of times without any problems. I rooted a couple of months ago and just added the LiquidSmooth ROM, which is lightning fast. Basically if you root your phone and install a Custom ROM you definitely won't be far behind a couple of the newer phones coming out, and I even venture to say the One S has a better price/performance ratio than most phones

yeah that is my attraction to it.
Sadly I have yet to hear of an Android phone without its quirks (for the Captivate: sudden sleep-death. GPS and power button problems are all hardware problems we just learned how to mitigate through software workarounds) ... so I am trying to find out what are the annoyances with the One S ....
Also .. the T-Mo version is a little different software-wise than the other versions, right? There seems a lot of discussion about Wifi problems ... any insights? please?
Thanks
Are you in the US? If so we don't have the Jb update yet but its coming. Overall I have no real complaints. 230 seems steep for a used device to me. How close to an upgrade are you?
Thanks for not getting bent out of shape at my comment in general. Just trying to keep it clean:beer:

Yes, I am in US. So no official JB, but it seems the development support for the phone is running apace, right?
I am shopping for a full price phone - it is worth the $45 monthly bill and unlocked devices. Thus no upgrade lures. Phone prices are not low - for sure. It makes the Nexus 4 attractive, but that phone is still $350 - $400 with taxes and shipping, so that is a little steep for me.

I am the current owner of a LG P350 which is no longer supported, and the P350 was well known for its horrible volume. I am hoping to upgrade to the Nexus 5, which I have heard great things about it. Speaker is not very good. Bluetooth also I do not think is very good.
Wired headphones I find great, however please bear in mind, I do increase volume using Viper4Android, which requires root.
