Force an app using mobile data while connected to WiFi - General Questions and Answers

Hey guys,
I wanna know if there's a way to exclude some apps from using wifi, while every other app uses wifi ordinary. I got an unlimited flat for streaming YouTube and Netflix with my mobile data and the speed is way higher than my connection at home. So I want to e.g. watch YouTube using the mobile connection, but keep wifi enabled for everything else coming in. I've already tried to restrict wifi to YouTube and forced Android to keep the mobile connection active, but unfortunately, this didn't work out.
I hope you can help me guys thanks for every answer

Data Connection is still used when connected to WiFi!

I've just been charged £400 by Orange for exceeding my Data limit of 1GB , watching You tube video's but whilst connected to WiFi.
I did a few tests using www.showip.net and found that when you connect to WiFi your connection is still rooted through your data connection, so your download limit is being sucked away when you are thinking your safe as your connected to your WiFi connection.
You actually have to manually disconnect your data connection, then connect to WiFi, your data connection doesn't automatically disable itself when you connect to WiFi.
This seems like a major bug to me and I can't see this documented by HTC or Windows Mobile
Is this a know "issue" and is there a fix?
Regards
You do not need to pay them anything, just go to your local citizens advise bureau or trading standards..
In order to prevent using 'data' connection you have to disable it with a third party app ,such as data disconnect, even then you have to manually disable it in the connections centre,if you disable it in the connections centre and do not use an app such as 'data disconnect' it will still connect..
Therefore it is a fault with the device..
Sorry to bump an old thread, but I just discovered this issue. Which app will automatically disable 3G when I'm connected to WiFi? I always thought if you were connected to wifi your data would not get used? Guess I was wrong :S

Install Android Data n wifi works like a charm...
In windows, i've seen Wifi-on-demand once installed, starts the data automatically when wifi is lost, but data stays on even when wifi is reconnected.I guess there is no solution for this yet....

CHTS switches Gprs off, if Wifi is connected. Also you can disable gprs Data totally.
At best you make a home profile, which disable gprs totally and only if you really want to use gprs, you switch to another profile, which allows it.

[Q] Sharing my wifi connection with my phone

Ok, I've been looking around for a couple hours now but people aren't understanding my question/dilemma
I am currently using a goWIFI connection on my tablet, I'm only allowed to login with one device at a time. So I am trying to share my xoom's wifi, not data connection with my phone so they can both be using the same wifi connection
I do not want to share a data connection with my phone, I want to share the wifi connection with my phone. How can I do this? FoxFI only seems to share data connections.

And you have tried putting your tablet in airplane mode to shutoff you mobile data connection?
Are ypu on a custom ROM? I have never tried it but some seem to offer turning your tablet into a portable wifi connection, might be the backdoor to tether your phone that you need
I dont have a data plan right nnonow for my tablet, its only running on wifi as it is. I have already disabled mobile data in settings. I am running EOS 3 build 134.
I am just looking to share the current wifi connection instead of a data connection.

[Q] Is it possible to have a Local WiFi Hotspot

Is it possible to have a Local WiFi Hotspot? I have a Galaxy S5 with Verizon. Ever since I upgraded I have been struggling on a 6gb data plan. I own an iPad and an Apple TV and wanted to do wireless airplay for presentations. Of course Apple TV requires a WiFi connection to airplay so I was wondering if there was a way to make a local wifi hotspot on a device without using the internet? It would be like having a wireless router that isn't plugged into a modem. I have never seen this brought up before so I figured I might as well see if it is even possible. What do you guys think?Am I crazy for wanting a local hotspot or does this peak anyone interest to explore?

is is possible to have the hotspot running on the phone and data turned off, but i dont know what effect that would have on other transfers through the wifi.
only reason i know this is because i just started using ds battery saver app the other day, and i use the hotspot on my phone a lot. i have it set to turn off mobile data when the phone is off, well this poses a problem as the hotspot is still broadcasting but i have no internet connection. fortunately the developer had already thought of this (for streaming music etc, same issue) and put an adjustable bandwidth sensor on the app, so it wont cut off data when the screen turns off is there is a certain amount of transfer present.
i kinda went a little off your topic, but i thought it relevant to explain how i know it is possible for the nay sayers.

I just tried it out and I can get the hotspot to activate with data on and then go turn data off and it won't automatically turn off my hotspot. I will have to try it with the Apple TV in a few days and see how well it works.

[Q] Disable Mobile Data when connected to WiFi

Does anyone know if it's possible (maybe an XPOSED module) to lock the phone so that if it's connected to a WiFi network it disabled mobile data? For some reason, my phone was still using mobile data even though the WiFi showed connected. I think it's because my work network requires you to log on to a webpage after connecting and apps may have had trouble connecting so they switched to 4G. I watched a few YouTube videos like that and burned through nearly 1GB of my data which really stings. As a result, I've taken to manually disabling mobile data when I connect to WiFi.
I'm running LolliGPE, S-OFF, etc.
You might try something like MacroDroid.

Is there any way to use mobile data while connected to home wifi network

Hey guys, I've searched and seen similar questions asked with no clear answer. I live in an area where my the internet speed is extremely slow. My mobile data is much faster and allows me to stream videos, music etc. However, in order to connect with all of my other devices on my home wifi network (chromecast, roku etc.), I'm forced to use the terrible wifi internet speed instead of my mobile data. Is there any way around this? Apps, hacks etc?
You could possibly try a teathering app. That might work. I Hope This Helped in any way.
