Hello.
I have GS MTCD device with Android 6.0. I have the following problem both with stock rom and with Malaysk's one.
I want to set a screen timeout so that after 1 min for example the screen turns off and an app starts as screensaver like Glance Plus. Just like on any phone, but on this device there is no Screen Timeout settings. I tried different apps for timeout settings, but after I save the new setting, the system restores the default one immediately which is Infinity (always on).
Is there a way to overwrite this setting so I can turn off the screen? I searched for solution but no luck.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks.
Perhaps you can find a launcher which does the same thing for you. If I am correct Car Launcher Pro has some sort of screensaver feature. But not sure if you can chose the app to be launched.
I personally would like to be able to specify the screen to go completely off. My KLD unit has a button in the notification bar which turns off the screen completely (including backlight) but didn't find a way to trigger this either by tasker or any other tool yet. Also it looks like changing the volume brings up this useless volume-bar on screen which wakes the screen (might be an issue also with other types of screensaver).
Yes, I'm using exactly Car Launcher Pro. Unfortunatelly its screensaver does not autostart for the moment. Hopefully the developer will add this feature
I found this in another discusion : https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...tcd-device-t3598908/post72445250#post72445250
This file has a sleep_timeout setting but it is disabled. I have no idea how to enable it though.
I don't understand why these devices lack screen off feature

My phone has both capacitive buttons and a navigation bar. (You can choose between the two using a system setting.) I would like to set up an automatic way to have the buttons turned off (and nav bar enabled) when the phone is held upside down (screen rotated 180°). Then, have the nav bar disabled and buttons turned back on whenever the phone is rotated to any other angle (0°, 90°, 270°).
I'm thinking the app, "Tasker" would be perfect for this, but I haven't been able to figure out a way to set it up. I would be open to other possible ways of achieving the same result.
My device is a "OnePlus One" running Cyanogenmod 11 (so, rooted Kit Kat).
Bumping for great justice
Any luck yet??

Hey!! Any luck yet?? Are you able to figure out how it can be done?? Good thought though.. I am also searching for the same..:good:
There is a GravityBox intent that you can call in Tasker to enable the navbar, but I can't remember what it is for the life of me. The developer, C3C076, could tell you what it is though,
I'm looking into this as well... this would be great!

One of my favourite Android functions is the quick swipe up from the home button to access google now/search.
It doesn't seem to work on the Mediapad x2. But as this phone has so many semi-hidden functions (home/back/... order; DPI settings; ....), I was wondering if I missed a setting somewhere to turn this on?
(and an other minor gripe, accessibility -> Services: Whatever you turn on, doesn't stay on. It gets turned off after x amount of time. Is there a way to keep them turned on?)
Cheers,

accessibility is turned off when the relevant app is closed. If you set app background protected, it will nto go off. But yes on boot you have to re-enable accessibility unless you use tasker or automate.
I have another stupid issue with Emui3.1
When I tap on a notification in the notification center, most apps don't open. The notification bar goes away and I stay on my homescreen. e.g. with Google Photos, Facebook, ...
Is that also a switch somewhere I have to turn off?
(Damn, I hate that phone manager)

What are the hidden functions for Home/Back..?
Not really a hidden function, but you can change their order.
Pinch the home screen inward to access hidden apps. Or you can make that your app drawer.

Screen lock bug
Whenever I swipe down from the top of the screen to where my notifications are. I can't toggle WiFi, Bluetooth, auto rotate, etc without it locking my screen after I press it. I am however able to use screenshot and record, and I'm not sure what other toggles do it.
Developer options bug
I'm not sure what causes it, but every few days, the "show taps" that I always have enabled gets disabled and I have to re-enable it.
Honor theme editor bug
For the most part, it works. But after I create the new theme and apply it. I only have a few of the button icons I chose (home button, back button, etc)
Wallpaper bug
Again, I'm not sure what causes this, but every once in awhile, my wallpaper of my phone changes (I use Next Launcher, but I'm pretty sure it started before I installed it)
I think I'm missing 1 or maybe 2, but I can't think of them at the moment.
Please and thank you for your time.

After you unlock the Android developer options.
There's an option you can enable to show a white circle each time you touch the screen. And it somehow gets disabled after awhile. Never had this problem on other phones.

I set my background of my phone from a picture from gallery. But sometimes the background pic gets set back to default for no reason.

So there's no way to fix the screen lock? Cuz it's kinda annoying that I have to turn the phone screen on again just cuz I enable/disable WiFi, Bluetooth, auto rotate, etc
I tried to enable from Custom restrictions "Don't turn on the screen" and "Don't wake for notifications" with no luck. Is this a bug or bad user?

Always nice to answer to your own questions . Ambient display -> disable New Notifications. Oneplus logic escapes me.
Disable notifications
Go to the Settings app on android > Sound & Notifications > Scroll Down and App Notifications under notification section > Tap on App name installed on your mobile > Turn off the notification for the app.
Hope this helps!

Thanks, but I wanted just to disable wake screen for notifications not to disable notifications. Was a little confused initially since Oneplus seems to have two settings for the same thing. Got it in the end...
I have the same problem, but your solution does not work for me. As far as I can tell I have everything in ambient display turned off, but the screen still wakes up (to the normal lock screen). To confirm: THE TOGGLE SETTING "NEW NOTIFICATIONS" IS NOT HIGHLIGHTED, WHICH MEANS IT IS OFF. HOWEVER, THE SCREEN STILL WAKES UP.
In addition to that I even have "no notifications on lock screen" selected, which means my screen WAKES UP AND SHOWS NOTHING. It's distracting and useless at the same time. Very annoying.
I have now turned on "ambient display when I pick up the phone". This finally made my screen stop lighting up by itself, though of course now it does it when I pick it up. But at least it doesn't distract me while I'm working on my pc with my phone on the table.
I like my 7 Pro very much...and since this is my 2nd phone from OnePlus, I guess I am fairly satisfied with their implementation of Android Q. However, their way of setting up notifications is one of the worst things I have ever seen! It is convoluted, confusing, and counter intuitive.... not to mention just plain ridiculous. I hope they really get on the ball with the issue of notifications and their useless Horizon light very SOON because a cell phone without proper, accurate, notifications totally defeats the purpose of having a "portable" communications device.

I am having the same issue, how did you get the screen to stop waking up?
I'm trying to find a fix for this, as well. I have an app that wakes screen besides delivering the notification with/without sound. And now I realize I have another one. I also want to have those notifications on, but without waking my screen, just like most of the other apps' notifications. And this is not related to ambient display. In my case, I have stock Android, on a Pixel 3XL.
Thanks!

Actually, there is a fix now, if you run Android 13. Under Apps->Special app access, there is a new option called 'Turn screen on'. I disallowed the annoying app and solved my issue.
I want to disable lock screen wake up for text messages and still no luck on S23. I went under special app access and disabled "Turn screen on" for the messages app (and others), and guess what? The screen still comes on when I get a text. HOLY ANNOYING.
You can turn Lock Screen Notifications completely off, but I dont want that. I want the audible notification to come in without turning the battery draining screen on, and when I tap the screen with my finger I want to see the app badge that tells me when app the notification came in on (signal, or messages, or fakebook, etc). If it's fakebook I may ignore it for example.

As I said in my post, I don't want to disable notifications, I want to disable lighting up the whole screen. The notification icon should show on the always on display without going full annoying brightness on the screen for 5 seconds. That's just dumb.

You might want to consider utilizing the Google Issue Tracker which is a tool used internally at Google to track bugs and feature requests during product development.
For Do Not Disturb - If you have the setting "Always show time and info" enabled (Settings > Display > Lock Screen > Always show time and info) your screen will display a dimly lit clock when the screen is locked, among some other status icons.
In the DND settings, if you check "Don't wake for notifications" and you get a new notification (text, ig, whatever the notification is), it will not show on the screen until you unlock the phone. It will just display that clock and you'll be unaware of the notification.
If you UNcheck "Don't wake for notifications", the lock screen with the large dimly lit clock will change to show the small icons for whatever the notification is.
If you do NOT have enabled the setting "Always show time and info" (Settings > Display > Lock Screen > Always show time and info), I imagine it would be the same behavior, except you would see a difference when you manually wake up (but don't unlock) your screen--you would either see that you got a text message or whatever the notification is, or you wouldn't until you fully unlock the screen.
Hi,
I have a joying UIS7862, 6GB+128GB,10.1" 1920x1200 head unit .
I am trying to use a navigation bar type application. After installing this application in the accessibility settings there is a new option that must be enabled for this app to work.
After enabling this option, the application works fine, but every time unit wakes up from sleep, this setting goes back to off.
Of course if you switch it to 'on' the application works fine again.
Does anyone know how to set this option permanently?
(the same problem concerns also other navigation bar apps )

What app are you using?
Have you tried installing it as a system app?

It is 'simple control - navigation bar' . But I have tried many of them and it was the same.
How can I install it as a system app?
What application is this?
What accessibility option are you using?
Perhaps there is a way to use Tasker to enable this option on starts

This is navigation bar type application. Just back, home and recent button. I thought about tasker, but I can not get it to perform a task at system wake up. Tasker is probably killed when device goes to sleep and then automatically restored but with some delay. It works after the system wake up, but I can not find the way to make it react to waking up ....
I would start by creating a tasker task that makes the appr. system changes. Then put a tasker widget/button on your home screen for that task. From there you can work on automating it via any of the many options you might have available thru tasker (screen/wifi/bt on/off etc)
in my unit (mekede), there is an option in the settings to autostart up to 3 apps. maybe if yours has that, it would help
All of the apps I use stay in memory while the unit is asleep

Exactly, the newer Mekede/NOR MCU units do this really well.
Up to three apps can be defined.
