<li>First off I started this thread to seperate the current thread for this phone that is riddled with question and answeres and it is super difficult to find what you need to find in the thread. I am writing this guide and thread to give back to the forum for the many days and hours I spent finding everything I needed to find, to root, flash and mod this phone properly. My hopes are with my knowledge on the subject you wont have to spend hours of fruitless searching like I did to find what you need. <li>Just some notes and observations that were not mentioned in his guide that will help. In order to install the drivers try right clicking the driver for your system and selecting install. If that doesn't work here is what you do. Turn off your phone, take the battery out, put it back in (if you don't do this it will just show a charging symbol) now plug it in, it should attempt to install the drivers and fail, at this point go to your start button, search programs and files and type device manager, when it comes up select the one with an exclamation point and right click it, select update drivers, point it to the driver folder and then your operating system folder, i.e. vista, windows 7. If the attempt to install does not work download http://narod.ru/disk/57204199001.bb08022cc3658b67af84bc83bd330b0c/20120705_e1808_v75_jbl1.zip.html extract the folder.
<li>Download http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?htx4lkktne1jmzg recovery image and place and replace the recovery in the folder above.
<li>Do not have your phone connected to your computer, open sp flashtool downloaded from Bruno martins guide select scatter-loading on the right select the scatter file in the extracted folder, deselect everything but the recovery i.e. only have recovery selected! Click the download button.
<li>Turn off your phone, remove the battery, put the battery back in plug in your phone, it should now attempt to install drivers, again it will fail, start, search programs and files, device manager, right click the one with the exclamation mark, select update, select driver folder, select your windows version, yes on any warnings, now installed.
<li>NOTE: I recommend never plugging in your phone until you hit the download button and it says searching with sp flashtool. It doesn't react if it's plugged in before then.
<li>O.K. So at this point you should have your drivers installed and recovery as well. Almost there.
So next download http://www.sendspace.com/file/oj1fv2 2 gb internal memmory and 500 mb external. Essentially what this zip does is make your phone have 2 gigs of internal space and 500 mb external instead of 500 mb internal and 2 gigs external, super cool.
Don't do anything yet though.
<li>Next download http://www.sendspace.com/file/uj3jqx This is the ultimate rom I spent some time on for our phones, it's android 4.06 while it's not orriginally mine I fixed a lot of issues and made it much, much, better and pre-rooted with buisy box.
<li>Next download http://www.sendspace.com/file/7yfizd That's right GOOGLE NOW fully working, really cool, works perfect you'll love it!
<li>Now that you have them downloaded put them on your SD card. Here is were people kept telling me if your external doesn't work you can just put it on your internal Sd card. DON”T DO IT! If your external doesn't work you put a smaller one in a 2 gig works nicely, I had a 16 gig and it wouldn't read, had an old 2 gigger laying around and read it just fine. Heres why you don't use the internal, your flashing the internal memmory!! It will mess everything up!
<li>That said, files on the sd card put it in your phone.
<li>Press power while holding the up or + volume, release power continue to hold the volume and you'll eventually go into recovery menu.
<li>Use volume to navigate power to select.
<li>Select wipe data/factory reset, confirm.
<li>Select wipe cache partition, confirm
<li>select advanced, select wipe dalvik cache, confirm.
<li>Now select install zip from sd card, choose zip from sd card and select the custom rom file, confirm.
<li>Go back and reboot, let the phone reboot to system, as a side note screen will be moving white, its just the wallpaper. After full boot up let system settle then hold power and select recovery.
<li>Once back in recovery select install zip from sdcard, choose zip from sdcard and select the 2 gig zip, install.
<li>Select choose zip from sd card and select the google now zip and install, now reboot your phone, and love the awesomeness. By the way it's just google in your app dawer or choosable when you select the microphone on your home screen.
FLASHING OTHER ROMS
<li>There are two different types of ROMS you can flash.
<li>Official-These are official builds and releases made for your phone. These will be flashed by using sp flashtool. Now our phones also have unique hadware sometimes different from phone to phone. Chinese are pretty infamous for mixing and matching hardware. That being said you need to have software settings set for your particular hardware. You do this by using a particular software called SP MDT which you can download here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/6kee8d When you download the file run it. Select your scatter file, then select the button with the question marks, select unlock, the first one on the left is for your rear camera, middle is for front and finally right is for your screen setting which most people have trouble with and think they bricked their phone. The only way to truly test this is trial and error, if your screens normal you''ve selected the right screen setting, if your cameras work they are also on the right setting. Now close SP MDT and it auto saves the settings for you and use sp flashtool as normal.
<li>Custom-These are modded and themed developer ROMS, these are installed by flashing from recovery and generally do not effect your screen and camera settings because the do not contain uboot data.
Troubleshooting
<li>Don't flash NVRAM and UBOOT if your phone already works fine with cameras and LCD screen!
<li>My phone will not connect to install drivers- Many methods have been mentioned, but the one that works is-power your phone off, take out the battery wait 5 sec, put battery back in, now plug in your phone to the pc, it should attempt to install drivers and fail, go to start then type in the search box device manager, select it, right click the one with the exclamation mark, choose update. If that doesn't work, run sp flashtool select your scatter file choose what you want to install, select download button, now follow the steps provided above and plug in your phone. Also The cord that you use to pluggin to your computer may be the issue, if it does not transfere files when you plug it in normally then it wont work for the drivers, some of them are charge only I found that out myself when two of mine didn't work.
<li>My sd card can't mount in recovery-Most likely cause SD card is incompatible i.e. too big, use a smaller 2 gig card, do not use internal memmory as others suggest, it can mess things up and I advise against it.
<li>SCREEN PROBLEMS! Psychedelic colors, black, white, gray and others. CAMERA PROBLEMS! No camera, wont focus etc. Etc.... You need two programs spflashtool found here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/bh81se and SP_MDT found here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/6kee8d You also need an official firmware. Open SP_MDT go to the box that says scatter file, point it to your official firmware scatter file, then click the box with all the question marks, press unlock, the first option is your rear camera, the second option is your front facing camera, the last option is your lcd settings which make it look normal (not phsychedelic and wacky). Now these settings vary from phone to phone so you just have to trial and error them, basically if your screen is right, the seting is right, if your camera works the setting is correct. Now you can close the SP_MDT don't worry it saves your settings for you even though you just close it. Go into SP Flash tool Now you can flash the whole ROM but you don't have too, you only need to select UBOOT it will give you a warning it's perfectly fine, thats all you need to flash to fix your settings, and it wont mess up your current ROM.

<li>Flash With SP Flash tool, Do Not Check UBOOT or NVRAM Unless you have already messed up camera and LCD settings in which case you need to follow the troubleshooting section.

Incompatible apps
Thanks for the guide I've now got the 4.0.6 Rom on my phone. one problem, the play store says a lot of apps aren't compatible with my phone. I'm assuming this is because its a 4.0.6 Rom is there anyway to make the play store think you have 4.0.4 so it will let you download them or any other way to download these supposedly incompatible apps?
there is no android 4.0.6 this rom is based on android 4.0.3

Okay I've now tried a 4.0.4 Rom and its still saying loads of apps are not compatible when downloading from google play? These apps worked fine when I was on the stock 4.0.3 Rom.
sendspace.com/file/uj3jqx was 4.0.6 is a moded version of android 4.0.3 the build.prop file has been edited 4.0.6 there is a build.prop file somewhere that lets google play compatible with all apps.

I changed the lcd density, the model and product name in the build.prop file and now its letting me download all the apps. Thanks for your help.

This is really important to note. Newer phones have JBL2, and the JBL1 stuff at worst soft-bricks them and at best takes away auto-focus from the camera (still working on this, but seems permanent for now).

I've watched a few videos about getting "google now" working on ICS - but I have little Android experiece and do not want to break the phone. Has anybody done it successfully on this ? can u point me at a failsafe utube video (or something else) to get this done without my loss of £120GBP ? Thx...

Yes -- it works! I've done it.
I'm sorry that you're not going to find one step-by-step guide for this phone, but all the info is here.
This is a very hard phone to "break" in a permanent sense, but I'd read as much as you could stand before you began to avoid headaches that others have had before you. Between the two threads here, there are 150 or so pages of info. Especially important things to note: Make sure you have the right phone (not quite as easy it sounds) and make sure you note all the current details of your software before you get under the hood.
In order to use Google Now, you'll first need to root your phone and install a custom recovery (if those don't make sense, use the Google to search for an overview).

So, the question becomes: Do you have root and a custom recovery?
FWIW, Google Now is interesting but has yet to seem revolutionary to me. Seems like something that will be amazing three or four generations from now.

4.0.4 Updates:
B026 (Older versions: B018,B019,B024,B025) - those version come with the device pre-installed. It’s don’t reccomend to install them. Those version are 4.0.4 Android and they are not include Google Apps.
B107 - This is the official Huawei’s international version. It’s an Android 4.0.4 version Stock (original Google Vanilla UI) which is come with Gapps. Multilanguage version. This version is considered as “Battery Saver” by most of the users in XDA. This version also got the biggest Antutu Benchmark score (15,000-15,500) which achieved in the device.
4.1.2 Updates (Emotion UI):
All of the 4.1.2 updates have the “Emotion UI” interface (more info about EMUI here).
There is only English and Chinese in Emotion UI (Menus).
Right now there is 2 version of Emui - “Emotion UI 1.5” and “Emotion UI 1.6” .
You can download it from here, use google translate.
EMUI 1.5 is the stable build. Emui 1.6 is the development build.
B544 (Older versions: B541,B542,B543) - This is EMUI 1.5 stable build. it have all the futures of Jellybean and the unique interface. Very stable. Don’t include Google Apps.

SuperSU - Root controller App. You need this app to have ROOT.
Guides:
How to install Official Updates -
Method number 1 - Required EMUI:
Donwload official update which come as a Zip file.
In the Zip file there is a folder called “dload”. Extract its to the root library of the SD card.
Open Settings app.
Go to “About Phone” and then choose “System updates”.
Choose “Update via SD card” and then “Confirm”.
The device will reboot into the “Update installer” and then he will install the update.
If the installation successed, the device will reboot into the new version, if not it will reboot into the version which you have right now.
Method number 2 - Required Original Recovery (can be custom ROM)
Donwload official update which come as a Zip file.
In the Zip file there is a folder called “dload”. Extract its to the root library of the SD card.
Turn off the phone.
Boot up the phone with POWER & Volume + & Volume -
The device will reboot into the “Update installer” and then he will install the update.
If the installation succeeded, the device will reboot into the new version, if not it will reboot into the version which you have right now.
How to Replace Recovery -
U9508 have 2 types of Recovery - The original for the official updates - the chinese for everything else.
Open setting app.
Disable Fastboot option. Go to “Developer options” and enable “USB debugging”.
Connect the device into the USB. Choose “USB storage device”.
Open “Recovery6.0.1.9_AscendHonor2.exe”.
Now you have 2 options - 1 for The chinese recovery, 2 for The original recovery.
Write the number that you have choosen and press Enter.
If all is OK, the program will do its job - Reboot into FASTBOOT MOD, Flash the selected recovery and then reboot the device.
your selected recovery have been installed.
How to install custom ROM -
You will need the Chinese Recovery to install custom ROM.
This guide work with MIUI,HIUI,XIUI,TouchWiz...
Put the ROM on the SD card
Go to recovery by Turning off the device and then booting up the phone with POWER & Volume +
First you need to wipe all your data, Select the 4th option and then the first option [Wipe Data/Factory reset]
Now when your phone is empty you can install new ROM, Select the 2nd option and then 4th option.
Now select the Zip file of the ROM.
Select the first option, Now the ROM will be installed.
Now choose the “GO BACK” option (The last one) and then choose the first option - Now your phone will reboot
If the installation succeeded, After few minutes your phone will boot up to the new ROM.
How to install Google Apps or SuperSU -
This guide is almost the same as installing ROM, you just don’t need to wipe your data
This guide is also for installing kernel.
Put Gapps/SuperSU on your SD card.
Go to recovery by Turning off the device and then booting up the phone with POWER & Volume +
Select the 2nd option and then 4th option.
Now select the Zip file of the Gapps/SuperSU.
Select the first option, Now Gapps/SuperSU will be installed.
Now choose the “GO BACK” option (The last one) and then choose the first option - Now your phone will reboot
If the installation succeeded, After a minute your phone will boot up with Gapps/SuperSU.
You can check it by search in your apps for Google Play or SuperSU app.

Huawei Honor 2 U9508 1G
Hi
New to the board and I did something rash and bought a Huawei Honor 2 U9508 8G 1G ram direct from China. Its arrived and looks great and even the camera is a pleasant surprise )
I have some understanding of rooting having owned a HP Touchpad and a Ainol Fire/Flambe but I am no expert and can easily become lost in all the steps.
So my question is...
Can this phone be de-chinesed? I have managed to root it using a tool from BinAry (how cool is that tool!) now I would be happy just getting a UK Google Play installed until the community gets hacking.
Any help appreciated (Mod please move to a relevant thread if necessary)

better root this phone by using "root with restore by Bin4Try", if you are on stock 4.0 (it doesn't work with 4.1.2 on this device)
to get gapps including play store fully working just download latest ics version, unpack it and copy files using root explorer. or download
this and assuming you already rooted (and having hisuite or huawei usb drivers installed) connect the phone to pc and run install.bat, look at the display and allow su root privileges when asked
most of the chinese stuff are under /data/cust/delapp, just delete it

Thank you for contacting Huawei device.
Sorry about because there has many different customizations in different countries’ carrier operators’ customized.
So you can’t upgrade your device which has bought in China to a oversea Android version.
And because of the law in China that all Huawei Smartphone which has sold in China all can’t support Google Play.
So your device which has bought in China also can’t support it.

yes, they need to obey the law at least until they release this phone to international markets, however, technically they do support everything just fine, all languages and the rest, it's just disabled or removed, but you can update it to "to a oversea Android version" see attached screenshots
chances you brick the phone with root and putting gapps are very low, but the risk is still always there. however if you didn't alter the bootloader in most cases you can still restore this phone into a working state

I am planning on buying the 2G 32GB for $405 and I see yours is 4.1.2 Are there any issue rooting that phone?

you probably can try morelocale2, but I prefer to do it natively, it works well for me on 4.1.2 emui beta and I suppose it will work on 4.0 as well
find this file /сust/channel/cn/xml/hw_defaults.xml look for white_languages string, delete those lines with Chinese and English only, and uncomment white_languages where all languages specified.

the only drawback is that you need to make factory data reset (no need to clear sdcard though) in order to make the changes to take effect.
remember if you break the xml formatting it may break something in the phone settings, so you might need to restore the whole firmware

I am planning on buying the 2G 32GB for $405 and I see yours is 4.1.2 Are there any issue rooting that phone, or better still how do you root the 4.1.2 if you cant use bin4ry?

Not sure about 32GB version, I've seen only 8GB ROM which can be extended with sdcard only, with 1GB or 2GB of RAM, which cost around $380 now or $30 more with express shipping.
As of root and 4.1.2 version, I've got that on some Chinese site, there's a dev there who making prerooted rom images for U9508 based on EMUI beta. But my phone came with stock 4.0.4 version installed by default. I've installed 4.1.2 myself and customized it a bit for my needs, including languages, gapps, etc.

Yes, it does have Greek in the menu, but I can't tell for sure if everything is translated well. Huawei customized 4.1 and added it's own launcher, and called all this EMUI. It's still in early beta and not publicly available though. I will make a guide on how to update to 4.1.2 but a little bit later.
If you've got this phone and want to enable your language in stock rom, try with "white_languages" method I've posted above.

My Experience with the U9508
I just bought this last week while I was in Beijing. The salesman sold that for 1900 RMB but after paying I found that it was a locked version and I had to pay additional 200 RMB for an export set. The normal China Mobile and other phone shops don't carry this model and can only be found in their geek pc/handphone commercial district. Even then the shops there don't carry physical stocks but must run upstairs to the export offices.
This phone has it's own Huawei Shop which is crap and the first thing is to root it with the Bin4Try method. Then comes the big problem when I tried sideloading the Google stuff. Everything installs but won't run. I found out that the root System/Apps folder is non-writable so all the stuff that I tried installing didn't make it there. In a separate thread I read about using the ES Root File Explorer and reset the file permission of that directory. Copy the needed files to the SD card first and then use ES to rewrite the folder permission and copy the files over. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hfam7mCOAAo)
Good to go! But only after much anguish since I did everything on my own without this guide. BTW, there's a very good app called APK Extractor from Play. This repacks installed apps on your old phone so you can email it off to your new phone to install when you don't have Play initially. I find that this is faster than loading from SD card.
It's not as smooth as my Nexus 7 but it's a really cheap and good quad-core phone. Yah the camera has a weird and unusual focal length. It's got a bright screen like Samsung too so that's a bonus.

I've received my Huawei U9508 2G today \o/
I've got it from China, from an internet seller (merimobiles, to be precise). I didn't ask for it, but the first time I turned it on, it was already rooted. There was also a special installer for useful apps such as morelocale2, the google play store and google synchronization services.
I was very happy with it... until I've realized that some google apps just wont work. For example, Google+ tells me "Couldnt connect to server" when I open it, then I click OK and then it shows me the list of synchronized google accounts, I select mine and it goes again with "Couldnt connect to server" (I'm connected and can access other internet services...).
Mytracks asks to install "google play services" but when I do, I get an error: "incompatible with other application using the same shared user id". Google maps won't allow me to log in neither.
So I tried to reinstall the gapps using the method of the first post from apnoia, ... and nothing worked anymore, not even the play store... I figured this was because of the files rights. So after a busybox chown root:root *.apk, I have got the synchronization of gmail contacts, calendar and google drive working. But apart from that, I'm back to square one.
I also tried the script from apnoia with another image, namely gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip from goo.im but I think that's not better.
Now, there are some issues that I don't think I had seen before: right from the android's start, youtube, google talk and google partners services crash with no action from me.
Sometimes I have a notification: "permission required (for account [email protected])" but if I try to open it, it doesn't do anything. I've found another guy facing the same issue with the smartphone (www[dot]swedroid[dot]se/forum/showthread.php?p=1194895 -- I don't speak swedish neither, thats why I didn't reply ).
I'd really like to get the google apps working well. No one has got the issue here ?

n1m4i, yes try full factory reset, should help with your issue. otherwise reflash firmware, root and install gapps

Well, for those who want to try the factory reset like me... Be prepared to have to configure the phone while it's all in chinese :silly:
Just kidding, actually you can change the language to english pretty soon in the wizard.. but still, that's a bit confusing for the 2 first screens...
Have you tried my approach to copying the Google files right into the systems/apps directory? That solved my problems.

Yes, that was kinda the apnoia's solution. Finally that's what did the trick but I assume there were some conflicts with the seller's softwares that prevented it from working before the factory reset.
Conclusion: if you've commanded your phone from merimobiles, don't waste your time, flash the gapps right away and factory reset the thing before installing apps on the phone...

I haven't managed to root mine. I have tried a lot of techniques, everything failed.
One of them screwed my PMP3270B. Now it is "bricked".
The only thing that looked like going well was the backing up of the tablet without rooting.
I could achieve that by following the technique found here:

Also there is a tool that may do the Rooting trick if you haven't bricked yours yet.
I found it in a Czech forum, a (google translated) post dedicated to PMP3270B tablet.
The application that may root this tablet is called "Android ICS Root Unlocker 1.0" Developed by GreekDev -11th July 2012
I couldn't apply the "patch" because I have managed to bricked my tablet before that.

I found Arnova 7h G3 specs are similar to the Prestigio PMP3270B. Logically any ROM will work on both tablets.
Arnova has better community.....

Before starting another Prestigio thread, you should've probably use "Search" feature of the forum first.

As for the rooting thing... Have you checked your device before rooting if it's rooted already maybe?
I am asking this because on most markets, your device already comes pre-rooted.

This is a Zipped file that you will need to unzip.

Make sure that USB is enabled on your tablet and also USB for debugging option is ticked to ON.
Run CMD as an administrator and then write ICS_Root_Unlocker.bat
It is important that you run it from CMD.
At each tablet reboot wait before pressing a key to continue.
Before pressing key to continue enable USB again on your tablet each time it reboots.

There is a trick.
You need to make windows 7 not to see a non installed driver. I achieved it using virtual windows 7 on VMWare. Now I have Genuine rooted Android, with build in Digital TV Tuner and FM tranmitter.

Extract the folder with the name "root" to your C: drive so the path becomes like C:\root
Do you have access to Google Play market place? Because you are recommended to download the Titanium Backup ★ root app (but only after rooting procedure is completed) to check if you are successfully rooted and give you the back up facilities that are so important (at least for me).

12) in one point the updates from ota updater will change your kernel but dont worry.you will just lose temporary the screen rotation so...
install all the updates and in the end run the rk29update.exe again untick all the things there and keep only the kernel ticked and use the kernel i gave you.that match with your 5080 cpro. this time dont push formatta !!!.
Just overwrite the kernel and click aggiorna! !
your device will restart and ta da !!! you have the latest firmware for your Prestigio 5080 C PRO. overclocked and rooted with 1 giga for apps

Remember the steps are only for Prestigio PMP 5080 C PRO and NOT for the Prestigio 5080B.
For the Prestigio 5080B you must find the specific Kernel that works on the device cause elsewhere you will have problem with the ROTATION

Hello.After i rooteds i could not get connected to google services(the wifi icon is grey instead of blue)I have tried factory reset(6-7 times)youtube trick and anything i could find on the net.Do you know what i could do so i can fix it?

Nothing will bring the Google Store back....
My other 4 prestigio devices work perfectly...
This is strange with the GV7777.

I guess they have seen your GV7777 and My GV7777 performing "intense" activities from same town and blocked its ID.
I will let you know as soon as I get an answer from google.
I suspect it is not the device..... The problem comes from google servers and firewalls...
I have contacted the Support team at google to give me a solution to this...

i hope google could fix it because i thought it was a problem with the device and i have done a factory reset(it happend with my mobile a long time a ago and the factory reset solved the problem.Also more people have this problem with their prestigious device(you can see them in the prestigio facebook page)

I own a Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-i9300 CLONE, the MT6575.
It is possible to put Android on this phone, and there are different versions which you can put on your phone, however, not all of them work fully. I am not responsible if you brick your phone, or any damage done to it, but hopefully, there shouldn't be much damage done.

As I only have the MT6575, I do not know the differences between this and other phones, but this phone should have 2 Sim card slots (Covered with silver foil to start off with), and a battery which reads SUNSANG (Not SAMSUNG).

UPDATE: I now have a galaxy ace so im not going to be using this phone much. I found a replacement charging port as mine broke. Any problems reply here and somebody will try to help! I dont check back often here, but i know some users do. Not many people have this phone so i thinnk this thread is kinda dead! If anybody wants to update the roms and stuff, feel free. There is a link that I have found HERE, and also HERE but I have not tried downloading any of the ROM's and therefore do not know if they work, and they could be for a 1 sim phone, I don't know.

FLASHING GUIDE
What's needed:
USB data cable
MediaTek USB VCOM drivers
SP Flash Tool ( Latest version SP_Flash_Tool_v3.1224.01)
First of all, make sure that you have MediaTek DA USB VCOM drivers installed.
Flashing the whole ROM
First of all open SP Flash Tool, then click Scatter-loading button to load the correct scatter file
(MT6575_Android_scatter_emmc.txt or MT6577_Android_scatter_emmc.txt, depending on which phone you have) for your device and ignore any message that may appear.
Turn off your phone, remove the battery and replace it after some seconds (and don't turn on the phone).
Press F9 (or hit Download button) and connect your phone into the computer via USB data cable.
The process will start and a red progress bar will appear.
After the red progress bar is complete, there will appear a purple progress bar.
Right after the purple progress bar is complete, a message will appear underneath it:
“Please insert USB cable in x seconds” and then the download will start right away (you will see the yellow progress bar filling up).
When the yellow bar is complete, you'll get a popup with a green circle and Download OK message,
which means that the process has been successfully terminated.
You can now safely disconnect your phone and turn it on. The process ends here.
Flashing only part of the ROM
In case you want to flash just one part of the ROM, that is also possible. In the shown example, only recovery image will be flashed.
Deselect all parts except the one(s) you want to flash and then press F9 (or hit Download button).
The tool will immediately show a warning because not all parts are selected, but you should continue anyway. Safely press Yes to continue.
The download of the chosen partition image will start and after the yellow bar is complete, the popup with the green circle should appear.
Please note that, even though it isn't mandatory to select it on the list of images to flash,
preloader file must be present in the same folder as the other partition(s) that you want to flash, or else phone will not be able to enter into download mode.
Attention: Please follow the instructions carefully. I will not take any responsibility on whatever may happen with your phone.
Very important warning: Always make sure that you trust the sources of the ROM you download and know that it is meant for your phone.
After flashing a wrong preloader, your phone will be completely dead (can't be powered on, it will not charge and won't be detected anymore by the computer) and there is no way to recover it.

the seller has locked the phone with a wrong rom (now does not detect sim cards)

Hi,
In this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1921178), if you read through it, I believe there is also somebody else who has a 1 sim phone.
If you take off the back cover, above the battery, there may be a CONCEALED 2nd sim slot, under some foil. If there is, You should have the right phone as the one in this forum, if not, check the other thread.
Cool. I will follow. I have this phone but my battery does indeed say samsung. I have two and they both say samsung.

I don't actually know how to make the roms, they have been created by others. If you have a link, please PM me it, so i can put it on the main page. However, I think the last link in PappieDappie's sig. is 4.1.1 Dekdee?
I thought that seeming as the other old thread never got updated, I should make a new one, as it would help new people find their way.
Also, if you see a samsung galaxy sIII theme for andriod, please let me know, as normal andriod looks a lil different from samsung andriod

1) If you could ask / request all users and posters in this thread to include 2 Pics of their Phone....front and Back (with back cover removed, showing battery, SIM(s)and Memory Card) .....this so everyone can figure out what phone He or She is using and would seek any help from the User of same phone.
2) If you could attach the Pics of the ROM (s) that are posted here.......along with the About System Pic.
I think it would be very helpful to you.....and to all the Users of this thread.....Everyone will know exactly what they are looking for.
Also.....if these ROMS's can be flashed via CWM or Custom Recovery.......that information can also be provided....

You have to change the home screen background too. On your launcher, press the left menu button, then System Settings, Display, Wallpaper and pick a option from there.
Then again, it depends what rom you are using.

Hey! I have some tips!! I have a camera.apk that works for our phone. You have to push it to system though. It has camera, video, and panroma (sorry I don't know how to spell it) works perfectly it's not upside down!!! I also have svoice if you want it.I also suggest you guys use xposed if youre rooted and then use tweakbox if you want to change your status bar and clock color! It's so easy!!
Also, I tweaked my 4.1.9 rom, but I'm not sure how to put it together like a zip so others can use it! There are some pics of my rom using nova launcher!

yea you can what you want. Sadly this phone stopped working because the charger port broke. Now I have the real s4! Best decision ever!
I have quite a lot of questions regarding my rooted Lenovo A850 since I googled it and found no answer so I need answers from all of you professional devs.
Briefly, I bought the phone (stock non-root) at my country at a very cheap price (RM320 if not mistaken, equivalent to $97 since it's an offer) and when I first boot up my phone, I mostly saw chinese apps (including the dialpad app). So I didn't really care about that at first.
Then I faced storage problem, at that time I don't know the cause so I just moved on, till the day that I cannot install any games in it.
At that time, I don't know what fills system storage, maybe WhatsApps media, maybe pre-loaded apps.
So at this time these questions poped up my head (you can answer this Q's):
1. Why are some of this system apps are unpractical (really, it's no use having them)?
2. Why Shen Ma Game ( Google it if you don't know) appeared as an undeletable GAME (it's a GAME, yet rated system app, neither uninstall nor disable work), I mean why that useless game rated as system app?
3. Players Tutorial is not working, ANR popped up when try to launch. Is there a way to fix that?
After probs and probs I resorted to root................ aaaaaaaand softbricked (lol my fault) and recovered.
After phone is repaired, I noticed something odd. The serviceman said to me that I actually rooted my phone successfully, with his face seems shocked (like I'm the only one can do that). It is because my phone is an AP set (made by manufacturer other than Lenovo itself) and theoretically impossible to mod that type of phone.
BUT I DID IT.
Oh back to odd thing, anybody know this type of Superuser?

1. HKThemeManager doesn't seem to detect themes I downloaded (CM10 theme)
2. After applying Holo Themer, that circle loading anim doesn't show up, even the stock anim is not showing up
3. Is it safe to change my bootup screen? [if not i'll change it back to stock right away]
4. How to theme my stock rom, safely, entirely including Settings, dialpad app, drag-down menu and more?
Then another odd thing I notice, my stock rom is not ROW. (see pic)
You know what, I have a strong feel that this is CN rom , not ROW(it's because I previously tried to install TWRP ROW in it and the recovery is not booting up), and my rom is S203 (what is that?).
The build number is also strange, it shows [probably] the source of the rom came. So I kinda locked to stock rite now and still looking for ways to further mod my device
Kindly please answer my Q's and some recommendations about modding

Make a nandroid backup, and then follow an Lenovo a850 flash tutorial to flash a new ROW ROM.

There are ways to install apps in your SD. Look it up.

The man behind your ROM though they will be practically or he didn't want you to delete them.

The app was installed as a system app. It doesn't matter if it is a game. You can uninstall it with a Root Uninstaller from the store.

Have you seen a lot of people from your social cycle having a rooted device? None of my friends have a rooted phone. I will also be surprised knowing that one of my friends rooted its phone.

Chinese devs have developed a lot of "unknown" for the rest world Superuser apps,. If you have no problems with it leave it as it is, else search how to replace a Superuser app. I believe that the best superuser app right now is SuperSU.

Since your ROM is full Chinese, it must be CN. It is not odd not to write it on the firmware.

Official lenovo apps has a version number (ex. s121, s123, s203) and this numbers shows on which official firmware your custom ROM is based on.

Some of my schoolmates are techies (the one having jailbreaked iPhone 5c, another having an unknown brand of phone (srsly, i never seen it anywhere around) that can boot multiple ROMs in one phone and some more) so seeing modded phone is a routine for me, but if we're talking about an AP set phone, it's rare actually cuz very few had any trust on AP set phones (state-of-the-art the experience sucked) and modding it? You're likely falling into a trap.

I am completely fine with that type of Superuser cause' it's MUCH MUCH simpler to use though. The UI is super straightforward and doesn't nag too much.

But honestly, I do not want to be the first person to flash recovery on CN rom, I want to hear thoughts from somebody had done it so if you or anybody, can get the AP set of Lenovo A850 with such baseband ver. or that exact ROM, try flashing custom recovery on it and tell me how it performs? Is it safe to do? via USB or Mobileuncle?
