I have already fixed my phone before replacing the MIC and the MIC module with USB Flex however it is now broken again, sadly cannot find this part new/used on the web. Anyone got one lying around or could point me in the right direction to buy it would be very much appreciated.

Help - the connector into which the charge cord needs to be plugged is not making contact and so can't charge G-tablet. Any suggestions? Has anyone opened one yet to get inside?
Thanks for any help.

this is a thread with a hardware breakdown, should come in handy. I've never taken mine apart but it looks easy enough.

Been there, done that... You do need to crack it open (gently of course) and the thread above does show to do that. Once you're in there's a metal tab that you'll see within the power connector assembly but from the side (do NOT go through the connector hole). Once you see that, use something small to push it in about 1/8-1/4". You should get connection then.
Be warned that it will most likely stop working again as that tab is now weak(er). I'm going to see if I can find a better connection option for that or just resort to charging on a dock.
As you may be able to deduce, I've had the same problem.
Warranty Repair?

Have you thought about sending it in for warranty repair?
G Tablets have a one year warranty so it has to still be within warranty.
Call Viewsonic tech support. Their phone number is on their G Tablet page on the web site.
Hi everyone, last night I was replacing my girlfriends HTC sensation digitizer.
The replacement went well, or so I thought, untill we realised that the microphone wasnt working, I knew as I was replacing this, that I had broken something as I felt/saw the little cable snap.
Now I know it is the microphone flex cable that needs replacing (IF I AM WRONG ABOUT THIS PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!)
I am about to buy the replacement flex cable, but I'm very nervous about carrying this fix out, as there is no tutorials on the internet.
I don't generally need tutorials, but I enjoy having them up for a reference, and I HAVE NEVER done a flex cable before.
Can anyone help me find out how to replace this cable?
Also let me know if the cable im talking about is the right cable to fix the mic.
Thanks very much in advanced ! Wilks3y
No one can help?
Seriously?
There posts about everything else but no one can help me out swapping a flex cable?

may be you can get better answers if you post in accessories section
I changed the digitizer on my phone and now I don't have the microphone working.
Other side can't hear me, voice recorder and voice search does not pick up anything.
Camcorder works fine and record with sound, but that I guess is separate microphone.
I searched but could not seen anyone with the same problem.
Should I just change the whole ribbon cable or there is something else I want to look at?
Thanks

Have you tried a different ROM?

its very easy to tear the flex cable containing the microphone when doing this repair. When you removed the motherboard, on the left side there were two gates, the one on top being a little larger than the one below.
this lower one is your microphone. trace it and see if you notice any rips. if not make sure the connection is solid.
let me know what you find

I was very gentle when removing flex cables. Can't See Any damage on flex, but as you say it might be very easy to cut cable when doing repair.
Will try and flash couple of roms so hopefully have Microphone back, but I doubt it very much.
This whole flex unit together with buttons strip is quite cheap. Will probably buy it and try to chage it.
Chance Rom Did not help
I've done the same thing. Those mics are incredibly sensitive. Even of you dont see a tear, pressure on the cable can damage it. You can score a replacement for about $8 on eBay. Just make sure you buy American. You don't want to wait weeks to save 2 bucks. The vibration motor is another ***** on that phone.

Are you sure the ribbon cable is in all the way? I had that problem. It goes in a little, then it goes in more...

Cable goes all the way in.all lights and buttons are working fine.I think that the socket that cable goes in is damaged.
funny thing I tried recording on voice recorder and picks up if I shout or tap the Mic loud.
on playback I can barely hear but definitely Mic picks up .
Hi, today it appears that my microphone broke.
I use it regularly to dictate short messages, so I know it has been working consistently on a daily basis.
I am on Albinoman's 4.2.2 and I am certain it is no a rom issue.
I had my headphones plugged in today: I wonder if I somehow damaged the jack? I plugged in an headset (hence, with mic) and I hear the sound, but the mic is still dead (sound recorder would not move).
What is the story about replacing a digitizer? Did you do it because your mic did not work?
And in the end, were you able to fix it?
Thanks.
Hi!
Last week I damaged my display of my Nexus 5 and therefore I decided to change it with this guidance, which worked really good.
But now I've the problem that my Mic and my internal Speaker of the Nexus 5 doesn't work anymore ....
That's why I thought about buying a new Mic and Speaker for my Nexus 5 to replace the "old" ones.
I found a new one on Amazon (Microfon + Speaker).
But I'm not sure if I should replace this one.
Does someone of you had this problem also?
Thanks a lot for good tips and for your help,
Maze-M
Did you check all of your connections? It's possible that the USB flex cable was damaged during the repair process.
Is there any method to test if the cable gets damaged during the repair process?
All you can really do is examine the cable closely for any breaks.
But isn't it possible to have a look at any errors in an Log-file? Or to look in the output of dmesg?
Ok so my kid mucked up her usb port... Still works BUT Android Auto is flaky now etc.... Went hunting for the USB port /board assembly and I can't seem to find the board for the - 5 variant..... Buy a can of computer duster and spray it out. A needle helps clean it up too.
Nah we're past cleaning it out.... The surrounding area is chipped.... It was ripped out of here car mount by a 6yr old... It works but the plug wiggles a bit...... But thanks for the reply.
Still didn't work for me but...

I know this is an old post but wanted to see if anyone is paying attention to these posts. I tried the cleaning out thing and found out the Motorola Moto G7 Power XT1955-6 (Supposedly US version) has a different USB charging board than the others. I too am having problems finding the correct board. I have the phone all in pieces and purchased a board that supposedly fits this -6 unit. Nope. Not the same.
