Hi guys,
I' currently thinking about getting the Xperia XZ.
I'd like to take the Dual SIM version because of the bigger storage. However, I don't need the Dual SIM feature and rather have quicker Firmware updates.
Therefore I'd like to know if I can flash the Firmware from a single SIM XZ to the dual SIM XZ?
Will I still have the 64GB of storage?
Thanks in advance

Flashing a single sim firmware on a dual one can throw your Device in a bootloop, although I've never tried it but I think flashing the wrong modem & baseband can definitely screw up your Device.
Thank you for this answer, although I have hoped for something more positive
Okay, I think I'll refrain from buying this phone then. Hmm...
Sorry to dig up an old thread. Did you end up trying this? I'm curious too.
Cheers
This should work. Remember having done this (actually the reverse) some years ago flashing the Xperia M Dual FW to the single SIM variant because -interestingly- the Android version of the Dual-SIM was higher (believe it was 4.2 vs. 4.1 or something). Anyhow, if it doesn't work, well, just flash the correct one and you're up and running again.
It may work if after flashing the single sim firmware, you use flashtool to flash only modem and baseband from a dual sim firmware.
Has anyone figured out how to do this yet? Is it safe? I want to flash a Single-Sim variant on to my Dual-Sim XZ as well, but I can't find any guide/tutorial on how to do it and also how to get the correct modem and baseband files.
Can anyone assist with a quick guide?
Hello everyone, i know that here collected the best minds of Huawei custom thing development
So i have a question to you, and i hope that you can help me, i dont know there to search and what to do
Originally i had a Mate 9 with L09 C432 ROM (UK Three mobile), after time i decide to flash custom rom, to get a better battery life, root and another tools
Because my phone is insured i have to bring this to original ROM one day, but.... Now when i am flashing any version of L09 C432 ROM i dont have network access (cannot use mobile data), cannot make calls and messages, but i can receive calls and messages. In row about phone i have MEID 0000000000. In top left corner there should be carrier written - No service, looks like that phone think that he is now 2 sim model
No service
One ROM from L09 which one is working for me is RomAur 1.5
I tried to rebrand to another model, and after back to original, not working, all possible roms - same issue. I dont know which part of ROM responsible for receiving calls and messages, or what i destroyed in my phone
Any idea for this?
Hello.
I'm not a developer or something likewise, I'm just a regular user. I have a mate 9 bought in latin America (Dominican Republic) after a month I rebranded my phone from MHA-L09C25B106 to MHA-L09C432B182. My phone was built with a single SIM and when I installed the ROM from this post. https://youtu.be/8OywEYZ2cbw it also gave me the MEID 00000000000000 but it let me do call and use data, also I noticed that even if the ROM was for MHA-L09 it has two SIM toolkits, one with the name of my carrier and the other with none but the phone was fine. The problem came after I updated to B190. I had the no service massage even though I had my SIM card inside, what I did was while on I took off and back on the SIM card and the service came back on, I restarted and came with the same thing so I took it off and back on again and my service came back. Because I use a case I don't want to be taking it off plus doing the same with the SIM card so I reinstalled back the MHA-L09C432B182 and don't allow the system to update itself.
I recommend for you check your version if it is ...B190 and also do the SIM off and back on solution.
Hope this helps.

Yep I have to eject and reinsert the SIM. Rebranded from L09C185 to L09C432B190. (SINGLE SIM)
Any fix for this on B194?
Will I have the same issue if I rebrand back to L09C185?

I am in the same boat. Posted bere my experience a week ago but no reply. I rebranded from C567 to C432 and all work well. I even updated to Oreo. For me is just a cosmetic issues, but I'd still love to fix it.

I don't think it's possible to fix. I have looked into this a lot as I had the same thing happening on my phone and nobody seems to have a fix. When you rebrand a single sim device to a dual SIM ROM it appears to activate the second sim slot which gives the MEID 00000000 in settings and activates dual SIM menu in settings. It also stops the SIM from being read in some ROMs until the SIM is ejected and put back in after a reboot. The second sim reader stays active even if you rebrand back to a single sim ROM. I ultimately had to send my phone off to be repaired and they ended up replacing the mainboard under warranty.

I was curious as a colleuge of mine recently purchased the OP8 5G from T-Mobile rather than directly from OnePlus. The sim tray only supports one SIM, and I am assuming that as it has been done historically on prior OP devices, the T-Mobile OP software only supports one sim card. I am unsure as to whether the T-Mobile variant has hardware to support two sims or not, but I think it may only a software issue. Would rooting and flashing to get onto the Global firmware enable dual-sim support for a OP8 5G T-Mobile variant?
Thank you,
I'd assume so. I'm planning on trying this myself when my dual sim slot comes in from Shenzhen.

What is the dual sim's use case for you? International travel or work/personal use?
I think in Asian countries, people often get 1 cheap SIM for cheap voice plan and another SIM for cheap data plan.

In my colleague's case, for work and personal use. I personally have my OP7 Pro as my work phone, and it is the unlocked non-carrier variant, so the dual sim support is there. However, for my use, too, I would like to have the capability available on my T-Mobile OP8 5G just as my colleague. I had him order a dual-sim tray from eBay, and from a US seller to get the item faster. If it works for him, I'll likely order the dual sim tray.
i dont think the global or eu roms support dual sim. there was a disclaimer under the network & sim settings untill ob1. not sure if ob1 supports dual sim yet
Dual sim works, however, i cant get my Verizon sim to work with t-mobile. I get the CDMA-less notification, i read that you can get it to work, you just got to call verizon to register your imei with them so dual sim can work. This is running open beta, stable 10.5.12 wouldnt see my second sim.
I havent called them because my verizon sim is through work.

And, this is on a T-Mobile OP8 5G? If so, I wonder if my colleague would have any issues running two T-Mobile SIMs on a global ROM? (I suspect the T-Mobile software doesn't even recognize a second SIM).

Yes, this is on my t-mobile OP8. I converted to global because I prefer global. I haven't tried two t mobile sim cards, and I haven't tried using t mobiles firmware.

So, after receiving the dual sim tray, and inserting two SIM's on T-Mobile's software--it does not even recognize the second SIM. What particular guide did you use to port over to the global firmware? Thanks!
I would also be really interested in knowing how to get the second SIM to read on the T-Mobile IN2017 variant of this phone. I've been tearing my hair out trying to get this to work, now that I've seen that the international models running Android 11 OB2 seem to have functional dual SIM. Personally, I kind of gave up on getting Android 10 to do dual SIM- even with the European ROM (which I'm fairly certain is the only way dual SIM on this device was ever officially supported by OnePlus), I haven't gotten it, but I think I'm annoyingly close. T-Mobile MSM to Global 10.5.12 to Android 11 DP2 will get you non-functional dual SIM- the device will see both SIM cards, and will properly identify them and their phone numbers, but the second SIM won't connect to voice or data, no matter what I do. If I upgrade the device from DP2 to OB2, the dual SIM UI stays (if I go directly from Global to OB2, it doesn't show), but the second SIM slot is still non-functional- no service for voice or data on the second SIM.
For anyone who has gotten a T-Mobile OP8 to properly read two SIM cards, I'd really like to know how- through my hours of messing around with this thing, it always seems like one step forward and two steps back. Hopefully the final release of Android 11 clears this up.
(My two SIMs are from T-Mobile and AT&T, respectively. Unfortunately, I don't think two T-Mobile SIMs has a chance of ever working with this setup on any firmware- "SIM 1" and "SIM 2" share an IMEI. While that's probably okay for SIMs from different carriers, that's not going to fly on the same carrier- it will look like a cloned IMEI to the network, and probably get shut down fairly quickly.)
Has anyone managed to make it work the Oneplus 8 (pro) unlocked USA version with 2 sims at the same time ? Thank you
It's working on mine with second simbtray however there is no service with both inserted. BecUzebitvhas the same IMEI as slot 1

1. First of all unlock bootloader and u also have permanent sim unlock from t-mobile.
2.After unlocking your phone will restart, setup your oneplus 8 and enable developer mode and in developer mode enable "usb debugging" .
Note: You must have working adb/fastboot drivers.
3. now restart your phone to bootloader.
4. Download any android 10 fastboot Rom from xda developer.
"I have tested this : https://sourceforge.net/projects/fastbootroms/files/OnePlus 8/10.5.9-EUROPE-OnePlus8Oxygen_15.E.18_OTA_018_all_2007160043_913306-FASTBOOT.zip/download
4.1. For flashing this rom your phone has to be in fastboot mode.
5. After downloading extract the rom and open extracted folder and double click "flah_all.bat
5.1.connect your phone to computer in fastboot mode and enter "Y"
wait for 5 to 7 minutes, in this process your oneplus will restart to recovery mode but never unplug the cable or use your phone during installation.
Note: i have tested dual sim with dual sim tray.

Good day all
long time reader on XDA, first site I come to look for answer when I need info on anything
So Vodafone in SA seems to have nasty habit on locking there dual sim phones to only use one sim card
I know on the P10 many years goes I flashed a different rom that unlocked the dual sim in there firmware, is this still possible to do with the P40 lite?
info is as followed
Model JNY-LX1
Build no 10.1.0.253 (C16E1R2P!)
EMUI 10.1.0.253
Kernel 4.14.116
Thanks in advanced
All P40 and lite versions should be able to support duel sim out of the box due to huawei replacing the sd card slot with there proprietary external storage, but it is not possible to flash any roms or root due to all huawei's having locked bootloaders.
