TO ALL WHO HAVE ISSUES WITH THEIR PHONE:
YOU CAN ONLY USE YOUR OWN BACKUP.
I'VE RUN TESTS AND CAN CONFIRM THAT TRYING TO USE SOMEONE ELSE'S BACKUP WILL NOT WORK AND COULD CAUSE FURTHER DAMAGE.
Sorry, I can't help you.
Would you be able to post a full backup for those who have messed up their system and data?
My phone has no system or data partition intact so I have no way of booting up the OS as its gone.
It would be a huge help

Nope doesn't boot. After the corruption message it just sits on the boot screen
It can't past the error message.tried different restore and staff but no luck.they said make sure you do backup if something else happens you just restore . I done this but I can't manage to boot . I think the problem is twrp once I flashed twrp that it no more stock recovery how much I tried to go back to stock recovery without luck. So twrp is unstable or is unstable with three related device
i wish somehow to get the stock recovery img exactly like twrp to flash it exactly like twrp to boot it exactly like twrp to restore my phone back

Ill send the unzipped raw files when I get up tomorrow
I have the same issue with the Three Razer Phone. I get the message saying the device is corrupt and no matter what I have (Stock or TWRP) the phone will still show the message. I submitted a support ticket with Razer about the corrupted issue. Its not covered due to the warranty being lost after unlocking but I'll keep you all up to date with what they say.
I think we're just going to have to wait for custom ROM's to get back into the system
I haven't been gettong notifications or i would have uploaded the lot for you. I can see about doing it in a few days when im home.
Thanks for being patient.

Hey guys,
I screwed something up flashing the latest twrp and now my internal partition only shows as 993 mb and I can't get past twrp. I tried moving a new twrp onto the sd card and flashing it using the 0P6BIMG.zip method and it flashed fine but same issue. If I try to restore my backup it gets like 1% in and fails.
Is there a way to just RUU everything back to normal? Sorry this is the first time I've done this to my M8.
Thanks!

Hold POWER + VOLUME UP AND!! DOWN (should take around 10 seconds.. and in TWRP you will see the screen turn off so as soon as that happens follow what I say next)
hold until the screen turns off, as soon as that happens let go of everything BUT VOLUME DOWN -- see if this gets you into Fastboot...

What happen is you flashed twrp to your system partition. What u need to do is boot to bootloader an enter the real recovery thru boot loader. Then you should be able to restore or flash a ROM. Make sure you go to bootloader then recovery so you r in the correct one. Try that an let me know.

Not there yet. Restore said successful but it still booted to twrp. Flashed a different rom and it booted up but then froze and now I'm doing that over again. The restores complete successfully but won't boot. My backup may be bad though so I'll flash again and report back.

No problem. Glad to help.
When I attempt to go to Cofface's Baidu page to download his 5.1 TWRP version, I get a message saying the content is no longer available. Specifically, Google Translate shows "Lol, you visit the page does not exist." Does anyone happen to have a copy they're willing to share? Or is there some issue with the 5.1 version that would suggest that I shouldn't use it? If I shouldn't ask for some reason, I apologize. Otherwise, thanks in advance.

Thanks very much for the link! I think I must have some deeper problems, as every time I flash this recovery (and another version I found in my old downloads), I just get stuck in a boot loop. I was able to use TWRP when I was on B015, but for some reason, I can't get it to work on B106. I'm using:
fastboot flash recovery c:\android\twrp_cn.img
However, like I said I just get stuck in a boot loop. When I flash the stock recovery, everything starts working again.

Yes, it is. I was able to run TWRP when I was on B015. The phone is rooted, so I've just been using Titanium Backup to back everything up before I wipe the phone, but it would be nice to take a Nandroid backup instead of having to reinstall from TB.

Thanks for the link! I can now get into TWRP. However (sadly), after I leave TWRP, it reboots directly back to TWRP. I've tried rebooting from TWRP into the system and shutting down, but each time, it just goes straight back to TWRP. I was able to boot into fastboot, so I reflashed the boot.img file, but it still goes straight to TWRP. I actually have had this issue before, and I wasn't ever able to figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as usual.

I had that exact same problem twice on Kangvip B015. When I would restart it would all of a sudden automatically boot into TWRP every time and never boot into the OS. When that happens, in TWRP make a backup, then Fastboot flash the stock ROM (system, boot, cust, recovery, user data etc) then when it boots do a factory data reset, then reroot, flash TWRP and restore from the backup you made. The OS will boot from your backup. I dunno why this happens, maybe it has something to do with with Kernel.
I've tried it a couple of times now, and I'm still not getting it to boot past TWRP once I flash the recovery. It was able to take a backup with TWRP, but when I restored it, I still had to restore the stock recovery before I could boot into the system. At worst, at this point, I can always flash TWRP, take a backup, flash the stock recovery, and then have my system back. It's a few extra steps, but I think I'll do this until I find a custom ROM that I like. I greatly appreciate the help so far.

Reflash the stock b106 recovery and wipe user data and cache, Then reflash twrp recovery and restore your backup. It should boot then.
To follow up, I tried using the updated version of TWRP that you (mtyler7807) posted in the development thread and following the instructions above. I can flash the recovery, boot into it, and take a backup. After that, as long as I boot into the system, I'm fine. However, once I boot into recovery for the first time after that initial backup, it just reboots into TWRP every time. So, right now, I took a backup a day or so ago, and I've just avoided going back in to TWRP again. I have another X2 on the way (a 32GB version), so I'm hoping that I'll have better luck with that one.

As far as I know, I have not. I did do a complete wipe of everything (except the SD card) at one point using TWRP, but I've always restored the system using the stock system.img file. Right now, the Cust folder is showing five folders, with several more folders/files underneath. Is there a particular file I should be checking for?

I don't think so. It's weird how some of us have different problems than others. I've had zero issues with TWRP but lately my screen has been going crazy. My touches don't work, things jump it's like my digitizer is messed up but when I restart everything is fine again. So I reloaded everything and the problem went away. I guess I debloated too much last time.
Hello, I would like some help since I got this device just yesterday.
I got it with the EMUI 4 Android 6.0 stock installed on it. Since there was no update for it I unlocked the bootloader installed twrp rooted and manually flashed EMUI 5 7.0. Everything worked fine.
I created a backup through TWRP and restored it succefully multiple times.
Then I installed the Meticulus TWRP (since I was told it is a prerequisite for the AOSP). I Flashed the AOSP but it stuck during the boot animation (30 minutes afterwards I powered it off).
I reflashed my old TWRP and tried restoring my backup. IT fails with the explanation "Cannot wipe /vendor" while at the top it says "Cannot mount /vendor (invalid argument)" "Cannot mount /product (invalud argument)".
Anyone has a clue how to fix this? Fastboot adb all works so there should be a way to boot into an OS properly?
Since AOSP was not booting i guess you forgot formatting /data partition to ext4... And did u Used Stock vendor and not openkirin ones ?
Gesendet von meinem Honor 6X mit Tapatalk
As said I have replaced the custom TWRP with the default one so I think this should not apply anymore?
The "cannot mount vendor/product" messages came from the default TWRP after I reflashed it again.
At the top it says "cannot mount /vendor" either so I guess that is the actual problem?
It would be nice to get teh AOSP up but I really want to be able to boot into something first honestly.
And did u Used Stock vendor and not openkirin ones

Can you please explain? When I flashed your ROM i was on your TWRP. Does this even matter anymore?
At best I would be able to restore my backup.
To me it appears to be caused by the vendor partition.
Is there any way I can manually create that through TWRP?

Yes you can but not creating it through twrp, but flashing it by fastboot mode: this is because
image (.img) files needs to be flashed by fastboot mode to avoid any kind of problem.
So, you should look for the last version of stock firmware on which you was before going custom, like BLN-L21CXXXB368 for example; tell me your build number and I'll find the package for you. Then, extract from the UPDATE.APP (a very big file that contains every partition in your phone like recovery, vendor, data, ecc. - you'll find this file inside the zip archive that contains the downloaded update) the vendor.img using Huawei Update Extractor, and then flash it through fastboot mode using the command "fastboot flash vendor vendor.img".
Otherwise, you could rely on dload method to reflash a full update package, and this should really fix everything since that it'll be like a new and clean installation of the OS. Then, unlocking the bootloader again and reflash TWRP to finally restore your previous backup made when it was working would be the final step.
Feel free to ask for further help
Thanks for the reply first really appreciate it.
I got the device on EMUI 4 Marshmallow rooted it and unlocked the bootloader then installed the BLN-L21C185B140 which worked smoothly.
I used that update.zip and extracted into dload root folder and started the huawei recovery installer but it said "package not found".
I tried flashing something to vendor before with fastboot but it said command not allowed.
Maybe I am doing something wrong?

Latest build on Nougat after the update was BLN-L22C185B140 so? If yes, the package that you need to download is that one. Unluckily i can't help about dload method, i never had fortune using dload because package verification always failed at 5%, i tried every combination but without success.
Command not allowed while flashing vendor image... but flashing others, like recovery or boot.img is allowed? If yes, i don't know what's causing this sorry... I'm sure that my friend @shashank1320 could surely help more than me about how using dload method correctly. Check his signature, it should contain a guide on how to use it

For fastboot yes flashing recovery or boot do work but vendor does not. Maybe the ISO is corrupted somehow I will try it again on a different machine now with the tool.
The link you posted the dload method from is the one where I initially found it as well so yea.
Also it shouldn't matter what I install since the only thing I need is the actual vendor (and product?) partition to work. I have a functional backup just TWRP cannot create/mount the partitions. So even a way to just create them without any data would actually fix my problem (at least I hope so?)
When trying to use Fastboot to flash the vendor/product img I get remote: Command not allowed (yes my bootloader is unlocked) although I can flash the recovery without any problem.
The dload method does not work as said. I placed the extracted content of the update.zip into the dload folder but the software "cannot find" the package.

@RedSkull23, thanks for the tag mate.
@algg, No need to flash the vendor image as you already had the stock vendor img.
Now what else you can try is to flash the stock recovery, boot to stock recovery, select factory reset and reboot. It should most probably fix the issue.
If not, reflash the TWRP, a regular TWRO available and not specific to elite or meticulous, but generic one given by OldDroid.
I hope you have downloaded the content for dload, if not, download these for B140.
Flash this via TWRP- http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/...afnaf/update_data_full_BLN-L21_hw_meafnaf.zip
no further changes and Then use dload method for this file- http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G1756/g1755/v105054/f1/full/update.zip
Try above and provide feedback. This is what I could think of best possible way to have everything with all system app working.
If not, let me know and I will try to help further.
Hi, I thought I need the vendor image since TWRP (all versions) tell me "Could not mount/wipe vendor" and "Could not mount/wipe product" "invalid argument" for both.
I tried the factory reset before but it does not work. It stops at 23% then shows a red exclamation mark and just goes to the original screen with the 3 buttons (restart, shutdown and wipe).
I am currently trying to get it to recognize my sd card. But somehow it does not work through TWRP it just does not recognize the 8GB SD Card. Also I am currently on the TWRP I was before all of this happened (3.1 openkirin). Without the SD Card recognized I can't put the dload files for it on it and in turn I can't use the dload.
I mean technically it should very well be possible to fix the device since it isn't a real brick and even TWRP and Fastboot load. It's just that all those little things are somehow ruining it.
Edit: I will get a new micro sd for some reason this one does nt work. I'll say then whether the flash then dload worked.
@shashank1320
Mind explaining why I should first use TWRP to flash something and then on top of it use dload?
And why those specific files?

Sure, let me explain.
The first file is the data file which will install few systems apps like file manager, updater, themes, clock, fm radio etc. This will work via dload as well but the installation time is around 3-7 seconds so, over the course of time and flashing few times, i realised that these PV files cannbe flashed via TWRP and it works perfectly fine specific to PV files( twrp won't supoort other stock zips). We foash this first so that it updates your buld number and also does not replace the recovery with stock (as if you flash the main update zip first, it will replace with stock recovery so flashing the 2nd file will be quick but with unstable system apps, sometime).
Now we flash the main zip file with update.app via dload and it Install the main firmware for boot, vendor, recovery, system, usrdata etc.
Hope this explanation helps, if not let me know and I will rephrase myself.
It does help. I did all of this and now in the dload app I get "Software install failed Incompatibilty with current version please download the correct update package".
When I flashed the zip you linked me with TWRP it said "cannot mount /data /vendor /product". Appearently data cannot be mounted since it is encrypted.
Any clue as to what I am doing wrong? Or is this device now a real brick with functioning recovery but without OS?
Is there any way I can "debug" what is going on while the boot animation is playing?
What is confusing me is that the boot animation plays just normal but it simply does not continue to the actual OS.

Not bricked..its just Data is not mounted or encryption. Should never encrypted it. NVM.
Do one thing, boot to twrp recovery. Try flashing and get error, then go to main TWRP page and click on reboot, select recovery out of 4 options( power off, system, bootloader and recovery). It will boot to recovery, now try flashing it again and see. Most if the time it helps.
Else, go to main page, select wipe, click on format rather than wipe here, it will prompt for typing Yes to confirm. Biit to recovery from main twrp page ( as mentioned above). And try this same thing of formatting data couple of times and then flash the zip and then dload.
I know these are tedious steps but inhave revived my device many a times with all these tricks after some efforts.
Good luck
YAY it works.
Just to recap what I did:
I flashed your thing first through TWRP tried to flash your other link with dload (which did NOT work)
Then I flashed the thing (emui5 Android 7 for Europe) through TWRP played in my old backup of exactly this through TWRP cleared dalvik & cache.
Then I waited 20 minutse and now it started.
Really thanks to all of you very nice people here. I would be very baffled if it wasnt able to repair the device since Fastboot and Recovery still work.
But Huaweis recovery is beyond terrible.

Are you joking man? I just tagged you for more help, but practically you helped him in everything, not me; I'm sure that you would noticed the thread and helped as always even without my tag, i just speeded up things for being helpful to algg.
algg, I'd like to apologize myself; i didn't vanished after tagging shashank, today i just was at work and obviously i was busy for help, but as i saw with pleasure he already helped you to restore your OS and that was the objective. Nice one, guys!
Today I tried to finally update to the latest version of crDroid, but ended up having a bunch of issues doing so, and after a lot of troubleshooting and trying to fix it, I ended up putting it into a bootloop of some sort instead.
I'm pretty sure the last thing I tried was installing a different version of TWRP to see if that version would let me properly install the rom, and stop my phone from always rebooting into recovery mode.
Trying to turn it on normally or boot into TWRP leaves it hanging on the "Redmi" boot screen, it can boot into fastboot mode though.
I'm guessing that the only way to recover my phone at this point is to flash the Official MIUI rom back onto the phone, but that also involves wiping Data and losing pretty much everything I've put on the phone.
I was smart enough to make a TWRP of the Data folder, but while making the backup, the console said it doesn't include all personal files or something.
How much of my personal data and files can I rescue from the phone in this state, and how can I do that before it gets wiped when fixing it?
Also, I think I really need some help in actually restoring my phone and flashing the custom rom properly.
No matter how much effort I put into figuring out how to do this stuff, unexpected issues always seem to happen, and turns something that initially seemed so simple into multiple hours of troubleshooting.
The only way I think i've gotten rom flashing to work at all was by wiping everything and installing the official MIUI rom, but I don't want to be losing my data every month when an update comes out.
So, could someone please help me get my phone working again?
Edit: I ended up fixing my own issue by ADB flashing on a different release of TWRP, and then installing fcrypt disabler after the rom but before everything else.

Unfortunately, I can't.
Trying to boot into TWRP just gets stuck on the 'Redmi' boot logo.
I just remembered that you can install TWRP over ADB, and that Peter's one says it works even when the system partition is empty, so maybe the issue is the TWRP I installed and could possibly undo this part of the issue over ADB.
It won't fix the issue preventing my from updating my rom, but recovery only is still better than a soft brick.
Edit: That worked, i've put Peter's TWRP back on, and it's launching into recovery mode/TWRP again now
twrp not boot after successfully flash in this rom

if your problem is not solve then tell me you need to flash a fastboot rom first with save user data.bat file and when it installed then you can install twrp builder 3.2.1. and then boot to twrp this methods working fine,if you recently flashed any android 10 rom then first you need to flash a miui fastboot rom,or flash it via command mode direct only 3 files
first click on extract a fastboot rom and copy boot system and vender file with flash.all bat file and make a new folder then click on flash.bat save user data file to flash these images
or you can do this manually
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash vender vender.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
then reboot device to fastboot again
now flash latest official twrp builder 3.2.3.1 img twrp and take all your data backup,
in fastboot flash latest miui do not downgrade direct otherwise you lost your data,
after this if you sucess then you can flash your old rom which is running before issue of boot loop of redmi logo
it will deincrypt your data safely and then root device and boot normally, if you lost anything then contact me with mail or whatsapp i will help you,7009197673 india
and this twrp work on all version from chines to global beta stable and indian stable

In the end, I did try orangefox, and it might have been part of why it worked.
However, the crDroid installation instructions specifically mentions using Peter's TWRP, so I initially used that one.

Thank you for the effort you put into typing up a guide to help me, but I ended up fixing my own problem.
I was able to use fastboot to flash on a better TWRP release, and then get the rom to install properly by installing fcrypt-disabler just after it.

If you can access fastboot, then flash TWRP.... Enter recovery, wipe your system partitions and then flash the Stock MIUI ROM or use the MiFlash tool. Make sure you aren't flashing an older version of the ROM than the onle already installed.

I have the same problem that stated after installing the update for derpfest and I can boot into twrp. Any solution for me?
I flashed a custom rom on this phone a couple of months back and after a week of use I handed it down to my sister-in-law. Accordingly she updated it and it got stuck in a BOOTLOOP (fastboot screen) since yesterday.
I've already posted this yesterday on the Phone's thread.
Please do help me. Thank you!

You didn't need to change the system file, this won't help to this issue.
It's uncertain to know if the Miui ROM that you tried to install was older or newer that the firmware you had previously, a downgrade is not allowed.
When you are coming from a custom ROM and tried to return to Miui (as you tried to install a Miui ROM) you have to do it through fastboot or through EDL mode, I say that so is not clear why exactly you tried to do that.
Finally, if the firmware where you are now is the right to flash the custom ROM you want, by flashing that custom ROM directly would be enough (of course after following the given steps on that thread) no need to flash the whole stock ROM prior to do that (at least is explicitly indicated)
Before to do anything, go back to the original format file.
@SubwayChamp there's a problem with the partitions being encrypted even though I do:
WIPE > FORMAT DATA > YES
the error shown in the picture comes up. same as trying to flash anything

The partition being encrypted is not really an issue, some devices keep encrypted no matter which ROM you flash or if even you format data.
The feature repair file has to be used wisely, you have to go back to the original system format file.
The better you can try now is flash the stock ROM not through recovery but through fastboot (firstly) and after that, if fastboot doesn't fix it, through EDL (download mode) take care to not lock it again.
From there, you should start again from the scratch.
@SubwayChamp - firstly thank you for the help. Ill update you soon.
@SubwayChamp
I tried flashing the stock firmware using MiFlash Tool, but nothing happens it just says success yet the phone stays at the fastboot screen.
Then I tried EDL mode, even cracked the plastic back cover :'(
The port registered and used the flashtool again but still, the software just closes whenever I flash.
So I did a bit more research and found this. Had to flash everything line by line and now the phone has come back to life. Thank you!
