Best ROM/Root Method for Galaxy S6? - General Questions and Answers

Hello! I currently own a Galaxy S6 (SM-G920I) that runs Android 7.0, I've had this phone for almost 3 years or so, and I think it's finally time to root it, I have rooted my S4 before but I wanted to up things up a notch and install a custom ROM for my phone, so I was wondering which ROM is the best one to flash and which rooting method do I use, if there is like a safe one or so?
Sorry for the very "noob" question, thank you so much in advance! <3

Custom rom for tab 3??

Hey Guys and Girls,
I am looking for a Custom Rom for my Galaxy TAB 3 It is a 4g from Sprint
I will post an image at the bottom, to show exact Specs..
I easily rooted and installed Wicked Sensations on my my Sprint Galaxy S3, and I love it, and I would love to get a similar experience with my tablet.
Does anyone know of a Custom Rom and Recovery that will work on my Tablet, I already rooted it with Kingo Android Root.
I very much appreciate it if someone could help me
Thanks in advance,
David

[Q] - [NOOB] About rooting the Nexus 5 (not tutorial)

I need opinions and this is what you need to know
Recently bought a Nexus 5 and I am coming from a Galaxy S4 that was my first android phone and I don't know a lot on how to root but my friend taught me how to install new roms after he unlocked the bootloader
I really like how "pure" the system is on my Nexus 5 and how stable it is compared to the roms i used to install on my Galaxy s4, I also like that it doesn't require me to install a new rom everytime the old one becomes buggy.
problem is, I also liked the extra features on the roms i used to instal, like PIE and all that stuff
now... my questions are, Is it worth rooting the nexus 5(also got a nexus7) or am I better off with it like it is ?????
also, do I need to look for a rom for my specific carrier (the phone is unlocked) or any rom will work?
thanks for the help

Any rom will work (easier with a Nexus device right? ).
Rooting is worth as per your needs. Rooting will allow you to use LMT Launcher (PIE Controls and other cool stuff).
Anyways you can root then unroot if needed.

Unlike Galaxy devices, where there are a million different carrier versions of the same phone, each incompatible and with different hardware to each other, there are only 2 models of Nexus 5 and EVERYTHING is fully compatible with both.

Should I root my Galaxy S7?

Hi, I was thinking about rooting my Galaxy S7 and I know that KNOX will be tripped and I will not be able to use Samsung Pay, S Health or get OTA updates ever again but I was wondering was that it and what are your thoughts on rooting the galaxy s7 and if you think it's worth it? I want to dual boot King rom and RR Remix but I'm not sure if it's worth it?
I think that's a very subjective question for which the answer should come from you. But IMHO, since you are seeking opinions, I haven't felt the need to root mine [yet]. So far this is the only Android I've had that I haven't rooted - and I've had Androids since the original Motorola Droid. I haven't used Samsung Pay yet but I think that once I do I will become accustomed to it. For now I am holding off on rooting. I find that my S7 gives me most of what I want and I'm not missing root at all.

So why did you root before the s7? I ask because I plan on buying the s7 to BL unlock and run custom rom..
No, i dont think its worth it! Stock rom does a great job and even the backups work perfectly with the samsung cloud and also you can use Package Disabler Pro without root so thats all you need.

Thanks, I think unless they release a fully stable, feature packed AOSP rom I'm gonna stick with stock. I do like Android N for the Galaxy S7 and it's definitely a step in the right direction from Samsung :good:

Thanks for your opinion. I think your right, other than custom roms I don't really see a reason to root. I think unless they release a fully stable rom (like AOSP) that I really want I'm gonna stick to stock for now. I wish there was a way to get the dual speaker mod without root though, that would be good.

Gotcha
I honestly haven't rooted since my OnePlus days, and even then once I started using Google Wallet/Android Pay I reverted to stock. On my S4 I had to root to gain some of the functionality/customizations I wanted. With the OnePlus and my S7 Edge, the need just isn't there. Sure, I'd like to remove some of the AT&T bloat, but at least I can disable those apps which is good enough for me.

Best version of the Samsung Galaxy S6?

So I plan on buying a used Galaxy S6 and wanted to know which version (SM-G9XXX) is the best (most compatible with mods). Because I plan on rooting and modding the crap out of it . The only reason I ask this is because I have bought phones before with the intention of rooting and modding only to find out that it's not possible.

Well depends on where you're from and whether you will be using mm or nougat. The international version g920f seems to be the more supported version kernel and rom wise but there other models such as the g920i/g920w8/t which have a level of Rom and kernel support, do not get the g920a though that has no chance of mods, there are also a few other obscure variants which no one really supports either.
Well thanks :good: . Looks like I'm going to get the G920F.

Hi, flash TWRP through Odon. Choose a samstock rom and flash it over TWRP. Root it via odin.
Ps: best post any new questions to q&a forum.
*Mod edit : thread moved to Q&A section.
