Anyone know if anyone else is doing kernel development for the phone yet? I was thinking of trying to get in contact with the makers of EX Kernel or Franco to see if they would support it.
I know bad etiquette replying to my own thread but as an update, I've sent emails or DMs to both developers and just waiting to hear back with their responses.
I will make a custom kernel but I have note receive my razer phone yet...
If anyone wants to help me you can find the source code here
https://github.com/eoghan2t9/android_razor_cheryl
It's based off the latest code from razer all I've done it upstream the code to 4.4.111
I am getting build errors which I plan on fixing over the coming days etc and hopefully add anykernel support. If users want to help out let me know and I'll setup a github group so you don't need to issue pull requests etc.
Franco of Franco Kernel has received a razer phone and said he will be adding kernel support once the factory images are released!
Razer dev is pretty much dead.

Some of us were waiting for the super fancy gold edition to hop on board. Just ordered mine this morning. The lack of factory images also hinders progress a bit since we can't easily revert when testing.

I agree with you, I wish razer would take a leaf from oneplus, I mean just look at the dev section. The only reason I didn't buy is the phone having been locked down and lack of dev support and yet I so wanted this phone.
It is really not that bad as it is mostly stock android, BUT I am really missing substratum and center time as well as a few other things.

I'm realllllly missing being able to flash ROMs and play around with settings you don't get on stock ROMs. That and great themes.

Just have to get twrp up and running then get anykernel configured. I won't be committing kernel.org changes to bring the kernel version up to 4.4.120 until the Oreo kernel drops just so it makes it easier for me lol. Then I can test if the kernel even boots ?

Lets hope that they release the oreo kernel source on par with the release of oreo (and let's hope that they also release oreo factory images!!!).
Battery management on this phone kernel is not so great, on my old S8+, battery lasted for 1 day (I always had 15-20% before going to sleep). With this phone, even tho the battery is bigger, I barely get home with 5-10%.

There's definitely a battery drain issue in the MR3 builds I noticed it once I updated to the latest build. What's causing the drainage as of yet I don't know but I plan to look into it at some stage.

ANYTHING!!!
EDIT:
Ok, so my enthusiasm is jumping the gun abit.
With the kernel source we can now make VERY custom roms, before we were primarily just playing with APK's and resource files, no real dramatic changes to the phone.
Now with the kernel source we can actually go in to the OS and fix issues, like that dang'd location bug. Also, there are debugging features that were left turned on in the code when the phone shipped, this slows the phone down, hopefulyl when we get a good soild rom we can turn them off and see a performance gain. We will also be able to get a fully functional 2.1 update, loads of other things as well. Way to much for me to sit here and hammer out on the keyboard. Possibilities are now almost limit less...other than stuff that our hardware is limtited to....

Once you have the kernel source, you can do anything you wish: optimize the kernel, add new support for filesystems, add new modules, completely add a newer build of linux...and that's just what I can think of off the top of my head.

Yes...that's one aspect of it. But it is really for the developers to build custom ROMs similar to what the developers do with the GSM Hero.

FINALLY! Can't wait to get a fully functional/customized 2.1 ROM eventually
not sure if anybody else noticed but ...
The files in
include/config/mach/ and below are all zero size not sure if this is an issue yet but....
edit -
just checked, there are 505 files that have a size of zero, those of you with Linux (or linux tools) can type
Code:
find . -size 0c
or
find . -size 0c | more
to see which files have a zero length. The following "hero" files are zero length
Code:
./include/config/mach/heroc.h
./include/config/mach/hero.h
./include/config/mach/heroct.h
./include/config/mach/hero/espresso.h
-TL
doesn't this mean that a rom can be released with a modified kernel that allows changing the clock speed beyond 528mhz?
Just letting everybody know that their has been a Tesla ROM developed for Clark. Their is a test version only right now but its still bad ass! Go to android file host and search it. I'm sure we will see it posted to XDA sooner then later.

Chop chop and double twist are working on it. I've been running it for the last few days now, and it's my favorite ROM. The 03/12 build is better than the 03/13 build. The 03/13 build was chewing up my battery.

I tried it for a day and it seemed very unstable and buggy. But so was Broken OS, and PureNexus. I don't know if it's my phone, or just the ROMs becoming more unstable than they were in February. I haven't found a DD yet.

Yeah :/ I had really high hopes. At times it seemed great. I wished there was a way to turn their theme from holo blue to red! I've been using black and red themes lately. I wish I could remember the specific issues I had with this one. I know Broken would be working fine, then just crash, and not power up again. Pure nexus only had 3/4 of the features working, and had all the notofication and scrolling lag that the CM ROMs have. Who knows. Could be my device.

I'm leaning toward it being your phone. Broken ran great for me as did Pure, with the exception of the music bug.

I apologize, but I can't honestly remember now. I can't remember if that was the one that would have apps close on me, or open on me without any input, or why I used the word unstable and buggy. If I say something is unstable and buggy, it typically means I had significant issues, beyond the normal one or two things that just don't work. But I unfortunately cannot remember.
I would like to note however, I noticed that restoring my apps and data with TiBu seemed to be causing some of my issues with the ROMs from that timeframe. Because I flashed the same purenexus build twice, once with restoring apps and data, and once by reinstalling everything from the play store, and noticed a huge difference. Using TiBu was much buggier, on the very same build. So it might have been that.
Link??
Restoring system data with TB can cause all sorts of weird issues. I strictly use it to restore apps/data for everything else, but not system data.
Sometimes it helps to wipe internal storage too when moving from one rom type to another (ie, stock based to aosp).
I haven't tried tesla rom yet, but may give it a shot in the future.

Hello fellow XDAers,
I am waiting for MIUI 9 to drop so we can pull that into the kitchen and cook. I am going to attempt to work with the new system, I haven't ported anything after Jellybean. So with that, I wanted to see who was on-board to potentially want to try MIUI.
Two things; One - I am not saying I am for sure going to be successful, but I will try. 2; MIUI 9 release date is expected to be end of May or early June 2017.
Feel free to have a discussion of MIUI here, I will also use this thread for small updates in regards to MIUI.
--- Small Post Update ---
MIUI 9 ?
Here is a small list of features to potentially look out for in the new version of MIUI. This is a leap forward into Nougat from MIUI 8.
Multi-window support
Quick-reply from notifications
Optimised dose mode
RAM optimization
Improved data saver
Always-on VPN
Call screening feature
Dual space feature
Dual apps
I have honestly never once run a MIUI ROM. Im not quite the flashaholic i used to be (especially now, as finicky as the v20 seems to be), but i could be game for flashing it a few times to kick the tires, see how it rolls.
Am i to understand that it does not have a home screen/app drawer for stock launcher ala iOS? it does retain androids ability to change launchers?
Is there anything "must see" on MIUI? ...not so much eye candy·· I don't care about bling so much, im all about that utility.

Hello! We have all been there with the flashaholic syndrome. It's a fortunate disease ? the V20 is a unit that is quite more finicky than most, but surely not the worst.
Initially, this will be a project starting off with the 918 and working into other variants as I relearn Android and what the new systems look like. It is a launcher that emulates that of an iOS landscape. Yes, you still have all of the ability of changing launches, etc. Must "see" would be animations, style, small 'functionality' pieces like that of the battery bar rather than a battery icon and so on.
It's more or less a eye candy piece of OS rather than something slim, although it is still smaller than a factory image. More "bloated" than a aosp rom but still functions greatly under the right environment.

I have attempted MIUI 8 but there are too many differences in the framework(MM vs N) to patch correctly. I was going to patch 9 in once it releases but if you want it you can have it.
Last time I had miui is when i ported it to the skyrocket in the jellybean era. Would love to see it again. Back when porting ROMs was simple

Someone who likes to tinker with his phone this phone is abit useless to me considering there are no custom ROMs existing. Not only that there are still quite options that the current version is missing such as the ability to be able to actually have stuff on Glance. I'd rather have Ambient Display. Pie in general is useless but in this phones case I'm hoping it brings the changes I need

Yeah that is certainly true what you say, ambient display been able to function in a custom ROM is quite useful indeed. I hope it too, to have custom ROMs available to flash and use. It would be awesome.

Well if 8.1 was perfect then they wouldn't have needed to make 9.0
But then 9.1 will likely be out a bit after 9.0 so 9.0 is already assumed to be imperfect (but then nothing ever is truely perfect is it ).
The assumption is that each update builds and improves on the previous one. So if there is something new that the teams of people who develop android have built and I can get it for free then why not have it?
But I do get what your saying, it's not like there's anything wrong with 8.1 on our device at the moment.
It's hardly a big deal If we get it in 30 minutes or 30 days... we're still getting it

But that wouldn't sell "that well".

Back with Android 4, they did just add .1, but 1.

I remember aospa. Loved it back a few devices ago. haven't heard much from them in a while. Would be great to see the op6 get support.

I heard the opposite. Some of the OP devs became PA devs. :|

Wouldn't surprise me, but The PA Devs definitely left to go work with OP. From there not sure what happened, but PA ROM definitely hasn't been as active

Actually it WAS a legendary rom, many years ago, when it was full of features, tablet mode etc. In later years it was just stock rom with very few additional features.
Nothing to be hyped about

"Halo" was something groundbreaking, I'll always remember the first time I saw this, and their floating windows.
This was genius.
