Sunshine S-OFF - HTC U11+ Questions & Answers

I ran the test. The device passed the test. But I did not dare to go anymore. Is it possible to work? Sorry my bad English.

I recall in the U11 thread they said no.

But why need s-off?

i had try this app once, and my phone(HTC,U11 PLUS,CHINESE MAINLAND VERSION)had passthrough the test.
after paying $25 to process s-off, screen turn black and system dump(suddenly power off),so i contact sunshine team to report my problem, and they refuned the money to me.
sunshine team said they can not patch HTC U11 PLUS to S-OFF now, because the model didn't sale in USA.

Any news on s-off?

I suppose not and won't be till SS developers obtain the phone (which is banned for sell in USA by Google itself as direct Pixel 2 competitor) to play to get s-off. So you can consider that won't happen...

[Q] S-off, root, unlock question

Ive rooted and have got s-off on my sensation and did this in order to unlock it, i must be honest i am a complete noob and didnt understand half of what this actually did. can anyone enlighten me? lol
Back to my main question, if i install s-on and unroot, will the phone remain unlocked? or will it simply go back to its original state?
thanks for any help
edit: typo
Not to sound funny but if you didn't know what you were doing then you shouldn't have done it in the first place.
Having said that, what do you mean when you say you 'unlocked' it?
S-off means that you have removed the Protected NAND safety protection, allowing you to flash custom and unsigned software on the device
Root means that some applications will now be allowed to do things that they were no supposed to do.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
unlocked as in not sim locked
I'm not 100% sure but I'd imagine once done it's permanent
apologies, for the first post, i understood what happens when you root and s-off i just did not understand exactly waht you gain ie. what does it allow you to do with apps and why, the sole reason i did it was to enable myself to unlock the phone and save a few hundred pound as it was i gift from someone who did not use it, instead of selling and going throught he hassle of a new one i thought i would unlock it instead.
I have now however got back to S on and Unrooted (scared of warranty issues) and PRESTO the phone is still unlocked! (apologies if you already knew this worked, i had inferred that nobody knew hence the no reply to my question)
Thanks

Also guys do i need to be rooted in order to flash the ROM, i'd like to use the T-Mobile one as it says its compatible in Pyramid, i dont need S-Off do i?
To flash any ROM, stock (different from your current one) or custom, you need S-OFF
S-OFF doesn't SIM unlock it either - that's something separate altogether

Ok thanks a lot, how do i know which one of these http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074559 to use? As there are multiple for HTC Europe
What ROM do you have on your phone at present? Was it branded when you got it?

[Q] One S Dev Phone with root issues

So I bought a One S from craigslist about 2 weeks ago. The guy said it was a dev phone. At the top on the case is a tag of numbers and letters printed on the phone. When I first boot the phone it has a HTC splash screen along with the text
"This build is for development purposes only. Do not distribute outside of HTC without HTC's permission. Failure to comply may lead to legal action."
Booting into the bootloader I get this:
*** LOCKED ***
VLE XC SHIP S-OFF RH
CID-11111111
HBOOT-0.90.0000
RADIO-0.14.31.22_2
OpenDSP-v10.1.0.31.0221
eMMC-boot
Feb 21 2012,14:27:31
HBOOT
<VOL UP> to previous item
<VOL DOWN> to next item
<POWER> to select item
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
FACTORY RESET
CLEAR STORAGE
SIMLOCK
IMAGE CRC
SHOW BARCODE
Also it came with CWM 5.8.1.5 already installed. I tried to use Hasoon's tool to install a more recent CWM but it wouldn't work.
I tried to unlock the bootloader using the htcdev site and token and that didn't work.
I was able to flash it with the UTB ROM using the existing CWM and it works but I cannot gain root access even though supersu is installed and I add apps to its list.
Any ideas on how to get root access?
Looking at your HBOOT version it seems like the device is on early software. You're already S-OFF, so you can try flashing the official TMO release ROM and follow the guides on XDA to root.

I don't see the official release. There is a thread here that says T-Mobile USA Complete Rom but there's no link to the actual ROM.
I thought reselling of these phones can land u into trouble ?
I mean the development phones
what about busybox? there's an app to install that if you don't have it

post us some pictures of the phone and the HBOOT menu
If you are S-OFF and supercid, the possibilities are endless... flash an ruu, that should bring you upto date with the latest firmware and software..

You could talk to the devs in the development section (as soon as you have your 10 posts) und help them to get s-off with providing informations maybe.
yeah man that would be a great idea, PM some and see if you can help them as for getting the bootloader unlocked, Unless HTCdev isnt working, there isnt much else yet.
why does it not work ? what errors does it give ?
hmm seems that I'm lacking some knowledge ^^
Is there any necessesity for unlocking the bootlaoder if the device already has s-off? Thouht that s-off would mean no security and full system access.
S-OFF means the NAND partition is writeable, When its S-ON this partition is locked (Security ON ), so with S-OFF we can customise even further, Flashing Radio.IMGs and lots more,
With unlocked bootloader we can do things like install a recovery and flash Root.
the perfect scenario would to have S-OFF AND Unlocked Bootloader.

Ah alright, I thought S-OFF would already allow to flash root.
nope usually when using an S-OFF tool, such as revolutionary, It will unlock bootloader at the same time..
surely theres someone out there can can do something really awesome with this developer phone !!

well it doesn't give me any errors, and says unlock successful, and just acts as if it went ahead and unlocked, but when i boot into the loader it still says locked. weird.
hmmmm..
maybe theres a command you can use in adb ? Im not sure..
I know the command to relock is ''fastboot oem lock'' maybe ''fastboot oem unlock'' might do something lol.
i have no idea as with most things in my life

My CID is 22222222, help me make it 11111111

My CID is 22222222, even though I RUU'd back to 1.85. My Hboot 1.09, and my phone is S-Off'd.
Why is it showing as 2222222? I've flashed other HOXs before and never experienced this issue.
Can't you just
(Fastboot oem writecid 11111111) ?
Try that in bootloader/fastboot.
Sent from my HOX w/CM10.1 4.2.2 s-off
Actually OP...better question is why you want 11111111?
22222222 i used that and got SuperCID because i read that HTC closed the 11111111 loophole in its unlocking process (if you wanted to go S-OFF.
Supercid is not a loophole, it was designed and implemented by Htc to do exactly what it does, to make a device not locked by region checks.

But it was probably never intended for the general public to use. Evidenced by the fact that HTC started blocking it in HTCDev.com bootloader unlock process. So in that sense, it was a loophole that was closed.

+1 to that. There is no purpose to changing it to 11111111, and no benefit to it (especially if you are S-off).

If your CID is 22222222, you must have made it so. Or the person who owned the phone before you, if you obtained it used.

RUU will not change CID, by design.

AT&T HTC One Mini S-OFF and RUU success

Hello, just wanted to share my successfull S-OFF experience with AT&T HTC One Mini with http://rumrunner.us/ by beaups -- all credits to him and his team!! Followed all prerequisites and succeeded!
Just had to relock the bootloader afterwards, in order for system to boot into Android
Also, was looking for RUU for my phone and found this on HTC's support site -->> http://dl3.htc.com/application/RUU_M4_UL_JB_50_Cingular_US_1.32.502.3_Radio_1.19.40d.00.14_10.20.40.4408L_release_333483_signed_2.exe
I have ran RUU already after S-OFF
Hopefully, someone finds this helpful...:good:

For some reasons, I followed all the instructions and I get an error saying to run rumrunner again and make sure I followed instructions. It said that no adb connections to device.
What would happen if I used this RUU with international version?

Warranty claim

Hello!
If I need to send my M8 in to have a hardware issue fixed (loose audio jack) do I need to fully go back to stock firmware/ROM and s-on? If so, will it be difficult to get s-off again?
Thank you!

They will most likely send you a replacement. So yes, go back to stock firmware by relocking bootloader, s-on, and using an s-on RUU. But, you will most likely have to pay for Sunshine again...

By the way, use this RUU. http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-htc-one-m8/general/official-ruu1-55-605-2-t2883845
Make sure you are on official 4.4.4 first. Relock then S-ON and run the RUU.
