Hello.
First of all, here is my device:
Code:
Samsung Galaxy S7
Model: SM-G930F
ROM: [URL="https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/development/rom-ryzen-rom-v1-0-t3667900"]Aspiration S8 Port V1.0[/URL]
Root: SuperSU
After I installed this ROM (with xPosed), I wanted to set up Snapchat. When logging in, I get the error some people receive when they got a rooted phone. I did a lot of research and found three methods:
Uninstall xPosed (via recovery), restart, install Snapchat, login, reinstall xPosed - DID NOT WORK
Create a Backup using Bluestacks 2.5 and B.S-Helper - DID NOT WORK, I COULD NOT EVEN LOGIN INTO SNAPCHAT WITHOUT ROOT ON BS
Using the function "Hide Magisk"
As you see, the first two options won't work. So my question is, how do I change my root from SuperSU to Magisk? And will this option work for sure with Snapchat? As I am very frustrated and sad, I would be honored if anybody would give me a tip.
Sincerely
Vesanius
EDIT: For all those, who got the same issue, I would like to let you know that the third method works. You have to uninstall Snapchat, uninstall xPosed (incl. modules), install the ROM again without wiping any data and choosing Magick instead of SuperSU, install Snapchat, login and then install xPosed. I hope that helps some of you folks.

You could have used a third party app (Like Root Switch) to hide your root without re-flashing your ROM or switching to Magisk

Oh, thas odd. Because I had the same issue and this worked like a charm. I had to restart my phone because it would not let me unhide it and that did the trick.

Hi,
I would like to share with you a method to make Snapshat's app working on every rom, even if you have Root and/or Xposed.
1 - make a backup with TWRP or whatever you want, if you want to restore if you don't want snapchat working
2 - in TWRP : full wipe (data, system, cache ...) + format data
3 - download the original samsung rom here http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?r=&v=&q=s7
4 - flash with odin
5 - boot and setup your S7.
6 - Install Snapchat app and login !
7 - Root (with Odin) & flash TWRP recovery (with Odin) OR Root throught TWRP with magisk V8 and phh's super su app... the two work.
8 - Install busybox free (open it and "install")
9 - Install mybackup pro (link play store)
/!\ authorize root access to MyBackup Pro /!\
10 - Mybackup Pro : Setup storage backup in you external SD
11 - Mybackup Pro : Backup snapchat APK+data (important)
12 - Reboot into recovery : in TWRP : full wipe (data, system, cache ...) + format data
13 - Install your desired custom ROM
14 - boot and setup your S7
15- Re-do step 8, 9, 10
16 - Restore backup apk+data
17 - Reboot
18 - Enjoy ! open Snapchat's app, and your credentials is automaticaly in.
Have a good day !
Is more easy install Snapchat, log in, and then install xposed, Snapchat works perfect with Root, but with xposed nope.

Yes but if you want a custom rom, you have to do this method, else, Snapchat will not work.
And with your method, you have only an samsung's official rom. So you can't backup you \data partition without loose you credential snapchat.
I have already try

I think that snapchat team has disabled login since a few weeks ago.
If you wipe and flash again this rom, you will loose possibility to log in.
Will Titanium Backup work as well for this?
If there is the option to backup APK + data, so, Yes.
Why is it necessary to back up the APK?

Once you log in in the application, all information about that are in a data folder. The backup save the version of the APK (i don't know if it work with a new version) and the data folder.
So when you restore it, your credentials are already in.
Easiest way to get Snapchat working
In the past month I have been having the Snapchat login issue as well. The last few times I installed a new rom I have been unable to login to Snapchat. Trying to restore a titanium backup of working snapchat data did not fix the issue (it use to but no longer works for me). The new roms I install do not have Xposed Framework, but are rooted. The phone being rooted is what is causing the issue for me. I have been unable to find answers to get this working for me, but I finally figured out the easiest way in my opinion to fix this.
Doing the steps below will temporarily unroot your phone. Make sure you download a flashable version of SuperSU to your phone so you are able to root it again.
1 . Open up the SuperSU app on your phone.
2. Under settings select "Full Unroot".
3. A SuperSU screen will pop up telling you "If cleanup succeeds, root will be lost, and this app will close automatically in a few seconds". Select "continue"
4. The next screen should say "Attempt to restore stock boot image? This is required for OTAs to succeed". Select "No".
5. Your phone should now reboot. Once booted up you should now be able to login to Snapchat (removing root allowed me to login successfully).
6. Once logged into Snapchat you can reboot into recovery and flash SuperSU to root your phone again.
Hope this helps.
This doesn't solved my logins attempts. Full unroot with supersu doesn't help me.
only, flash room whitout xposed....
install snapchat 9.31.1.0
login
reboot...
install xposed
done
recomend snapprefs

The method I posted is the only way that fixed my issue. Do you have xposed on your phone as well? Did you follow the steps I posted?

Before I fixed my issue this would not work. My phone being rooted blocked me from logging into any version of Snapchat (including 9.31.1.0). The only way to fix was for me to do a full unroot.
The best solution i have is to flash the superman rom, because, it will prompt you if you want to install root and xposed, if you choose "no", then you can login to snapchat, after that, you can dirty flash the rom again, and you select "yes" to install root and xposed... no problem in the future ...
***Solved***
If you have a app with Magisk or any system less
All you have to do is disable and delete the xposed module in Magisk manager and login as normal.
No need to do a unroot and everything
Works on the galaxy project rom.
I don't know how much you are concerned about the fact Chainfire is no longer maintaining SuperSU (apparently 2.76 version was the last one developed by him) and the fact it was taken over by some mysterious chinese company, but if you are - there's an alternative. If you want to read more about this issue - here's the link to reddit thread:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/54xdmp/ccmt_who_exactly_are_the_owners_of_supersu/
The new owner of SuperSU may or may not be a bad guy, but closed source root manager in hands of some chinese company that we don't really know anything about is kind of a gamble. Fortunately there's an open source alternative - Phh's Superuser. Rooting a phone with it is even easier than using SuperSU, as you avoid all that system/systemless hassle and just root. The only disadvantage is that you need to install the manager separately.
In order to replace SuperSU with Phh's Superuser you need to:
1. Go to SuperSU and fully unroot your device
2. Download Phh's binary from this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software-hacking/wip-selinux-capable-superuser-t3216394 (TWRP flashable zip direct download link)
3. Flash the zip in TWRP
4. Download Phh's Superuser - https://f-droid.org/repository/browse/?fdid=me.phh.superuser
5. Install Superuser and enjoy
I tried this on 6.01 stock and can confirm everything is working (so far). Let me know what are your thoughts about this. Thanks
Seriously ? If 2.76 was the last by chainfire, it means my 2.78 currently installed with nougat rom, with full power on my phone of course, is made by some mysterious chinese company, chills
On spetrum working nice ant thank you so mucho for the info:good:
I think I ll give a try with nougat, is the app on f-droid the same as on the play store ? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.phh.superuser

It seems so (both have the same version number). They probably have different signature, so you won't be able to update PlayStore version in F-Droid and vice versa.
I can confirm it work on nougat perfectly.
Thank you
Thanks for the info.
dudes will this work on stock rom with squid kernel?also on step 1 do we uninstall also supersu after reboot?

Hello, yes, tried on stock 6.1 with squid kernel too, works fine.
The full unroot will uninstall the app automatically
In step 4, i have installed pph from play store
thanks dude!we hope that will be stable and supported!
can I do it right now?or must I f.reset first?also do I have to give permissions to root apps one to one?
Στάλθηκε από το SGP611 μου χρησιμοποιώντας Tapatalk
no need to factory reset.
May be before full unroot freeze or uninstall any app who will try to get root permissions, and be sure to not have any malware who will try to get root, just by security, we never know...
One pph apk installed from play store or fdroid : when you will unfreez or reinstall those apps, pph will pop up to ask if you want to allow root permission, like supersu
For anyone concerned about this issue, I highly suggest you read this:

There's most likely nothing to be worried about.

Hey,
phone unlocked/rooted with Magisk 17.3 - now 2 issues:
1. apps with root rights can not always use them. I have to start magisk app manually, close and reopen the app (e.g. SD Maid cleaning app) and then it has root rights again and works properly
a big problem seems to appear then on AFWall+, which is super slow for me. have to reopen especially instagram 3 times to get connection. I guess this is connected to the same issue with magisk, would be worth a try at least. anyone got an idea how I can fix the magisk issue?
2. apps that check for root (my online banking wont work on rooted phones) cant be tricked by the "magisk hide" function apparently. anyone got experience with that? what can i do?
thanks in advance guys :good:

Flash latest magisk
yup for everyone who missed it....we had to skip v18 but the new v19 seems to be fully compatible #magisk
Hi everyone,
I'm curious if anyone has gotten the SuperSU root method running on this phone. I know that magisk exists but snapchat has problems with magisk for some reason so I would prefer to use SuperSU instead. I already have the latest twrp installed if that helps at all. Flashing the SuperSU zip doesn't seem to do anything so I'm hoping somebody has figured this out already.
Thanks,

just realized i put this in guides instead of questions and answers. Is there a way to move it? Serious noob here.
Do not think anyone has used SuperSU in a few years really. What is wrong with Snapchat and rooted with Magisk?
Snapchat wont get along with Supersu either. At least you could try to hide Magisk from Snapchat
I'm abit curious now, why would you prefer having supersu when magisk works the same way but even better?

it seems like supersu hasn't been updated in a couple years now, so you're absolutely correct. Snapchat keeps locking me out of my account for "using a third party app" even though I haven't been using a third party app. My guess is that it's detecting root somehow even when I have magisk hide enabled, magisk changed to manager, and xprivacylua restricting snapchat's access to files. I even tried using parallel space to copy snapchat into an isolated environment, but it doesn't even log in. It might have something to do with Oxygen OS, but I'm not sure. Although it's unlikely, I'm trying to see if there is a way to install SuperSU on this phone because I know snapchat works as it did on my old phone (if you log in before you root, of course). If it's not possible, I'll just have to figure something out.

I did this but it didn't work, it still locks my account. Snapchat seems to have some weird form of detection that can't be worked around.

Weird, never had an issue with Snapchat and was always rooted.
I used to have the same issue with snapchat until I started using the Magisk Beta versions, since then I haven't had that issue at all. Which version of Magisk are you using?

Get it up and running, create a backup with titanium and when you are on magisk, restore the data.
Thats how i used to do it when it wouldnt let me log in. But I havent had the issue for years with magisk. Ensure you are using the current and ensure you pass safety net.
Hi title says all,
If you root your device is it possible to use snapchat?
On my rooted samsung device i was gettting after a few days a temporary ban.
Thanks, ?
Snapchat should work fine. I had one time over this weekend i got banned for 12 hours but at the time my Magisk was crashing from updating without removing substratum theme.
As long as you enable magisk hide and pay attention to updates, you should be fine.
You can use Snapchat if you don't install Xposed, I do know that much. Xposed gives you a temp. ban. There might be a work-around, but if you don't need that, you're good to go anyways
Don't have OP yet , but with other devices I've found that enabling Hide on Magisk for Snapchat actually makes things worse
Do others using Magisk have to enable Hide to use Snapchat?

Follow these steps to use Snapchat with magisk -
1.) Update to latest Magisk stable build v20.0 - https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases/download/v20.0/Magisk-v20.0.zip
2.) After updating magisk, Go to Magisk Manager > Magisk Hide and check/enable Snapchat and Google Services (all services have to be marked).
3.) Hide Magisk Manager by it self, go to Magisk Manager > Settings and "Hide Magisk Manager" so it will repack Magisk Manager with random name.
4.) Delete "busybox" binary from /system/xbin directory and install BusyBox module from Magisk Manager > Downloads.
5.) Clear data and cache of Snapchat, try to login this time, it will work for sure, if it doesn't, login to this and click unlock my account - https://accounts.snapchat.com/accounts/login?continue=https://accounts.snapchat.com/accounts/welcome
I have tried this myself and it works, my first main account was permanent banned on magisk canary build, After that I deleted that account and started out with fresh new account.
Tested on -

Rom - Ultimate Rom v11.3
Magisk - v20.0 (Stable)

You won't get a temp ban with xposed. I'm even using SnapTools (Snapchat modifications) along with xposed and I've been fine for about 3 months now.
