Hey all, I installed chainfire 3d to my rooted CM7 running Thunderbolt, and I was playing around with night mode and drug the sliders all the way down...
My screen is now black and I can't find a way to reset it!
Many thanks,
Logan
Tried to remove app through ADB shell, but to no avail, screen is still black after reset!!
Restore a backup? Screen should work in recovery right?
I was silly and didn't have a backup of CM7 to flash yet.
What I did was go through adb and went into system>lib> and ran the cf3d_uninstall.sh script. It rebooted the phone and fixed the issue, but every time I reinstall chainfire 3d driver through the application, the screen is black again! I tried going through manage applications>chainfire 3d>clear data, and then trying to install, but to no avail.
The color file for the nightmode are stored in /data/property/persist.cf3d.nightmode
I used that method to fix the problem
Code:
adb pull /data/property/persist.cf3d.nightmode
now edit that file and change [COLOR="Blue"]custom:0:0:0[/COLOR] to [COLOR="Blue"]custom:255:255:255[/COLOR]
adb push persist.cf3d.nightmode /data/property/
Reboot!
Done!
Sorry for bumping, but how do I access the filesystem without turning it on?
EDIT:
Have no idea how to do it on another way, but I did it. I guessed where all the buttons were (even my pin code!) and the dropdown menu and everything to be able to get access to my phone. From there on I used the post above for instructions. Thanks a LOT!

*NOTE: USB Debugging must be enabled and your Android Device plugged in to your PC
1. Install QtADB for windows with the binary files (PC) ( please google it, this is my first post and xda won't allow new users to embed links )
2. Extract to desktop
3. Open QtADB ( it will ask for the binary files that you've downloaded)
4. After locating the folder, it will open the program. On the sidebar click Files ( it will show two columns )
5. On the right side click the data folder
6. open property and search for the persist.cf3d.nightmode
7. select that file and press F8 ( or right-click then delete it)
8. Reboot your phone and wait for it to load.
It should work without any problem. That's it! Hope that helps.

hi
I did the same as said but stuck at boot-screen please help me...
hello .....I have the same problem ..... I do if I have enabled debugging mode to activate it somehow or perform a hard reset
Chainfire created an automated uninstall script that is put in /system/lib when you install the driver(s)
Just use adb and execute
Code:
su
./system/lib/cf3d_uninstall.sh
Permissions are already set for execution!
Cheers.

Hello,
I am exactly not sure how, but right now, I am stuck at Factory Mode. Call, Message, WiFi everything is working.
But there's no lock screen and power menu, it directly reboots phone and there is this yellow overlay of my phone information (attached screenshot). I tried ODIN and flashed the rom, but nothing works. Used my old Nandroid backup. But it's same.
From http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/help/fixed-exit-factory-mode-t2424015 and http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...10-1-how-exit-factory-mode-into-usermode.html , I tried removing /efs/FactoryApp, but there is no FactoryApp on my efs directory.
Can anyone provide me their efs directory's content? Or any solution, how can I fix this myself?
It's Galaxy Core Duos, i8262.
Problem solved. I just deleted all the content under efs directory. Rebooted my Phone. And God, everything is back to normal.
not working

Just browse to ...\efs\FactoryApp with root file manager like Es File Manager, open file named "factorymode" as text with an editor and change state from "OFF" to "ON". On exit save changes, reboot your phone and thats it.
for all those who suffering from that problem ..
i managed to fix it this way ..
1. Extract/Flash Attached file as PDA in Odin ..
2. Root and Check EFS Folder (Now it's not Empty) ..
3. Go to "/efs/FactoryApp/" and open "factorymode" by TEXT Editor ..
4. Change Value "OFF" to "ON" ..
5. Reboot
>>>DONE.

i had the same promblem with my n7100 and here is how i fixed this efs folder being empty.
1st i reflashed the phone stock firmware then after i rooted phone and installed ES file manager.
2nd NOTE you may be able to see the efs folder but it will be empty unless you enable root access on the ES file manager tool menu.
meanwhile the efs folder will appear as empty but the files will be there. so just have to enable ROOT on the es file manager menu.
thanx

Scoured the forum and net, but I can't find a way to remove the Notification Brightness Slider.
I don't have Brightness Settings Toggle in Notification or Brightness Settings.
I rooted, and installed Xposed with modules. Did this remove it? Or, isn't their a setting to remove it in the stock rom?
Can someone enlighten me?
TIA

There were such notification panel settings in S5, but Samsung has decided to remove them in Note4 and Note Edge.
Thanks for the reply.
I guess the next question is if anyone would know some other way to remove it.
Thanks in advance
I was interested in this myself as I upgraded from the galaxy s4, and an option to remove it was there as well. I installed the app Lux Lite Dash, which is another brightness control. Under the advanced settings tab, there is a checkbox to disable persistent notifications. This app replaces the default slider with its own, and once you disable the notifications in the Lux app, you will be left with no slider
Thanks for the above help.
Finally, found a way to do it!
1. Get SQLite Editor (Does cost $. but you can use it for other things too)
2. Open it, and select the FILES column
3. Scroll to the DATA folder and open it
4. Scroll to the DATA folder within it and open it
5. Scroll to the COM.ANDROID.PROVIDERS.SETTINGS folder and open it
5. Open the DATABASES folder
6. Open the "settings.db "file
7. Click on the "system" file
8. Select "notification_panel_brightness_adjustment" (number 279 on my list)
9. Change the value from 1 to 0.
10. Save, close out and reboot.
11. Enjoy

I'm rooted and root seems to be required to be able to access files. However, perhaps someone here knows how to access system files without root?
