HDMI USB C dongle suppprt? - Google Pixel 2 Questions & Answers

I know Google said that there would be no means of mirroring your screen via HDMI. But I'm curious. Is that something that be added in with mods? Or is the hardware simply not there?
I don't know much about these things.

I want it to ;-(

I didn't do anything special. I just connect the TF to my plasma using a mini-HDMI to HDMI adapter and it works.
Sorry, I don't know what to tell you.
My plasma is an older model though (600U). Maybe that has something to do with it.

HDMI has different versions starting with 1.0 up to 1.4 as of right now. They have different standards so the latest version 1.4 is better and allows more throughput and resolution through that cable. Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI
Not that5 this helps at all but my Pan Plasma works fine also, even added a 10 foot hdmi ext to the mini to hdmi and attached it to the 50 foot hdmi that runs through the wall. All that with no loss in quality...
Non working HDMI here
Generic cheapy cable from Amazon plugged to a P42G20B.
Works fine on a different 21" Samsung LCD (don't have model to hand)
Looks like us Panasonic plasma owners need to try a 1.4 cable to see if it clears up the problem.
So are the tv's that aren't working older tvs or are there some new and some old???
Mines a 2010 model. It seems to be affecting the Panasonic plasmas but not the lcds.

[Q] 3.5 mm TV out cable

Obviously I have a Samsung Galaxy S 4G. I'm running a custom rom, the valhalla final. I recently purchased a tv out cable from samsung. It doesn't work on any tv I have. Is it because the tv's I own are older? Or does it have something to do with my rom? If this is the case can anyone suggest a rom whrere tv out works? Please help me!!
Did you go to display settings and turn on the TV out option? If so and it still doesn't work, it may be a TV issue. I've been able to use it on all the TV's I've tried.

You need to switch the yellow (video) input with the red (audio) input when connecting to TV.

Typically this would be reversed, meaning it would depend on the cable used. The phone sends the video signal on the same output.
I tried any color combination possible. NOthing work. My guess so far is the tv that stoned yoda was talking about. And yes, to answer your question, I chcked tv out. I get a bad picture with static and stuff. By the way, after thinking about it, the switching the cables wont work. That only applies if you don't buy the samsung cable, which I did. The samsung cable has a converter in it. Samsung switched the terminals to give you the illusion you had to buy from them. So I guess Im gonna find a newer tv and try it.....stoned yoda do you run a custom rom?

[Q] How to use a xBox One Controller?

Pretty sure you can't do that. Only with a 360 controller, and it needs to be a wired one.
Well, thanks kinda disapointing.
But I still got a old PS3 Controller, and its working with most of my games.
Expect the menus in Portal and Half Life 2. Is there a way to fix that? I cant scroll through them

Just found a video showing that the xBox One Controller is compatible with "USB/BT Joystick Center "2015"". I got the App, but my tablet still dont recognize it. Is this just a Shield problem?

No problem, man. Just try to not sound so aggressive next time. Mistakes happen.
So, I am currently a bit confused about this thread. Is it somehow possible on stock or not?
I recently tried the XBox One controller via cable on KitKat stock, but to no avail.
A wireless controller for PC isn't available until later this year, so I don't think this is a valid solution right now.
Xbox One controllers do not transmit data via USB ever.
The usb on the XBO controller is for charging only.
It is a wireless only controller as far as data is concerned.
You will never ever get usb to work because ghe controller does not have that capability with any system. It is an all wireless controller except fof charging.
That is why the guy who said you have to use a wireless pc reciever is correct.
Sorry there is no possible work around as the usb port doesnt physically support data transmission.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
But it is news at all. It is good to know.
Has anybody tried the wireless XBox One so far?

100% untrue. Xbox One Controller works via USB on my Windows 10 computer, no additional drivers. I don't have any wireless adapters or Bluetooth installed.
Unfortunately, this isn't the case with android. Neither USB/Wireless will work without support from Microsoft.

You will find that windows automatically installed drivers for the xbox one pad as it did for me when i plugged it in. due to being a MS device it has its own repository to aquire the driver from and as such may of updated without you even noticing
EDIT: i stand corrected as of windows 10 the driver is bundled into windows, but there is still a driver, its just windows 7 and 8.x users that need to run a driver update to download them, again this would happen when they plug in the pad anyway

Inaccurate statement, you are just the bearer of in correct information
so all that is really needed is for someone to figure out how to port the usb drivers that windows uses for the xbox one pad (which is fully supported over usb on my gaming pc as well) to an android version. I am very tempted to scour the net for any such development already occuring, failing that i will mayb e develop it myself with the people who are developing on the Nvidia tablet who achieved root on it in the first place. I am considering buying one of these devices myself, but i may look to see if a newer version is in the pipeline anytime soon and if there is save my money for that one. if only they had a shield tablet x1 edition like the tv box
No need to keep quoting me.
I was provided and in turn provided inaccurate information.
I apologize.

Gamepad?

As a gamer I am really interested in this phone because of it's awesome specs but there is one important detail I would really like to know. Can you connect a gamepad, like the dualshock 4 for example, through otg on this device? I would really appreciate it if an owner ran a test to see if it's possible.
P.S. I want to run emulators on it.
Can't anyone tell me if this thing supports gamepads? Please!

I am a input delay freak. I have enough android devices that have disappointing me when it comes to bluetooth gamepad connection. I just want a simple, lag free, wired connection. Wires, while they might be uncomfortable, they will always beat wireless when it comes reliability and speed of data transfer.
Last time I used sixaxis on my Nexus 4, it was flawless but I'll ask my cousin if he can bring his ds4 so I can test it with a USB cable and sixaxis

OTG USB Hub not recognizing mouse + keyboard.

Hello, I purchased a Dodocool 3 USB 3.0 + HDMI + External Power hub for my OnePlus 7 Pro. The adapter works fine on my Note 9. However, I can only get HDMI to work with my 1P7P. I have OTG Enabled. Any advice? Would really like to use the hub / monitor / keyboard and mouse. One I use a standalone type c to a OTG adapter keyboard and mouse works, just not with the hub.
Thank you in advance!
USB storage is detected on USB 3.0 ports just not the mouse and kb.
I have the same issue and I opened some threads around the web looking for other feedbacks.
XDA
OnePlus Forum
Reddit
Android Central
The problem seems to be common on hubs that deliver video out. I tried using the original OTG cable paired with a simple USB3.0 4 ports hub and all the devices are properly recognized. Instead, complex hubs are recognized as a "storage" device, no matter what you attach to them (but storage + HDMI works on several hubs).
I posted a similar question on Reddit. No answers yet, I basically want to know if Dex style hubs work with op7p. I currently use my old v20 with HDMI USB mouse and keyboard with power delivery, but it doesn't work with my v30 even tho USB to HDMI works. I want to buy this phone, but don't want to make the same mistake twice. I like using moonlight to stream my PC for gaming.
Dang, yea - I wonder if it is an issue with usb 3.0? It detects drives attached and HDMI just cannot talk to kb or mouse. I am going to keep poking around the system.
I wonder if it is a kernel level issue?
I fixed it! Flash this kernel! https://forum.xda-developers.com/on.../kernel-kirisakura-1-0-0-op7-pro-aka-t3933916
So just to clarify, HDMI, USB keyboard/mouse, SD scard, and power delivery all work together?

I'd back up via Twrp then flash the kernel.
Sent from my OnePlus 7 Pro using XDA Labs
Is there a Kernel that would also work for the OP6T?
Just installed twrp, rooted my new and fully updated OP7 Pro and then flashed the kernel but the result is the same.
USB-c to USB works
USB-c to hdmi works
USB-c to HDMI/USB/SDCARD/JACK/RJ45 - Only HDMI Works.
Anyone got any suggestions to where I might have gone wrong?
Does anyone have another solution other than flashing the kernel ? i dont want to root my phone and i really need to use my device to connect hdmi+usb port+audio jack at the same time .
my huawei mate 20 just work fine . but oneplus 7 pro doesn't .
