[Tips] HOW TO UNLOCK LTE BAND IN ANY QUALCOMM DEVICE - LG V20 Guides, News, & Discussion

Mod Edit : Link Removed
we have qualcomm cpu and unlocked boot loader.
i think we(v20) can do it like xiaomi devices.

hmm maybe have you tired it?

Wow, what a clickbait thread

LG phones are different than Xiaomi.
Unless you have tested it on LG V20 phones , don't share such threads.
This is neither a tip nor it's vetted.
This is definitely not development

Help get documentation for Exynos SoC

I've started this thread in a hope to spread awareness in a major flaw of Samsung. Though they release the source code for their devices usually in a timely manner, unfortunately the same can't be said for their Exynos soc documentation. I know that our phone doesn't incorporate this chip, but it doesn't mean we can't help the fellow community receive the same benefits as the rest of us. This especially is important to me because I planning on purchasing the Galaxy Note 2 :silly:
A thread was started in the International GS3 thread to help acquire the documentation for their device and an already written inquiry is available to be sent to Samsung's open source department, just use the link on the page. I edited the inquiry when posting it myself to include all device that current have the Exynos chip along with future devices.
Link to page:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1925709
Let's join together as a community and help Samsung understand how important this to all of us, even if you never plan on owning a device with the Exynos chip. As stated by Codeworkx,

If you stop crying, they'll stop paying attention and you've achieved nothing like in the past.
Yes, it's not the nice way. But it's the only way to give the community a voice.

He mentions that in the second sentence in his post...
That said, I agree that it's a good thing to do. If they get away with it once, they may try it again (providing this was intentional), and again and eventually not release the source for anything.
This thread is off topic. Please keep things here about the Skyrocket. Thank you.

Petition to Qualcomm to continue Snapdragon S3 support

Dear villec2 fellow users,
I have just come across a thread from HTC EVO 3D forum calling poor folks like us out there who are stuck with no more updates to sign a petition to Qualcomm.
Apparently due to the lack of driver support from Qualcomm, HTC has been unable to push further updates to our phones. I also think that it is such a shame when we have a relatively new device with remarkable performance but receives no support.
So here's the link: https://www.change.org/petitions/qualcomm-mobile-and-computing-qmc-qualcomm-decided-to-stop-any-further-snapdragon-s3-chipset-support-development-and-not-to-make-kernel-updates-to-provide-compability-for-android-4-2-2-and-newer
Please feel free to sign and share with others, the petition will be sent to Qualcomm and other Android Portals. I do hope that we can make a change . Thanks
Already signed, but I doubt 1k people are enough...

Not only is there already such a post. (see post above)
Also it has really NO business in development section.

Calling All Nexus 5 LTE bands modders...

So it looks like both the Xperia and Galaxy dudes can enjoy unlocked LTE bands on their Qualcomm powered phones. I found this tutorial here
I was able to go through the entire tutorial. The problem is that upon reboot the settings will revert back to their original parameters.
Has anyone have successfully unlock world LTE bands on the LG D820..?
Also while trying to backup the original configuration of my phone using the QPST tool, my Nexus asks for an "SPC" unlock code which i do not know what it is... The software fails to retrieve the dump because of lack of this code.... does anyone know how to retrieve this code from the phone..? i sure do not know what it is...
This is not a galaxy. Not one person in this forum has "unlocked", "activated" of "added" any LTE bands. What's more, this question is asked on a daily basis.

I know and have read people unlocking qualcomm devices left and right... just haven't seen any Nexus 5 traffic.... did you guys read the threads on the links i posted..? these mods are for Qualcomm devices... not just Galaxys and Xperias... there were mere examples...

I don't need to read them. I've seen them before. No one on this forum has activated, unlocked or added any LTE bands to the Nexus 5.

All the threads i have found so far as in regards to what works out of the box in other areas... modem flashes and so on... nothing proactive like the threads i have found in other forums..... There are Chinese dudes using their D820 in china right now...? how do i know..? i got results through Google in Chinese. The problem is that when you push those sites through translate, they dont make any sense. Furthermore, illustration materials posted are all in Chinese since they are graphics..... But really nothing in regards to how to unlock Qualcomm devices for other LTE bands... there is a difference... It may seem to you that they are the same but the questions are NOT.... i have posted the threads so that you can perhaps put down the sniper rifle and do some clicking... and read..!!!! nothing more..! if you have heard or read anything, awesome..! post it...! if you haven't then perhaps this would be an opportunity to check out these threads.

You seem to be ignoring the facts. There are threads here discussing modifying the LTE bands at length. No one here, on XDA has managed to unlock, activate or add LTE bands to the nexus 5. I know this because I've ready every single thread in the nexus 5 forum about LTE bands. I've read every answer and read every link similar too those that you posted today. No one here has done it. I've told you this no less than 3 times now.

all right.... like i said! i have successfully rewritten the NV Bands String from stock to one that supports European bands. It loads it in memory and it seems to work well switching from Edge to HSPA+ very quickly unlike the stock string that took for ever to do the same switching.... haven't tested LTE because there is none in my area.... the problem is that upon new NV bands strings gets overwritten by the default string and the problem ensues... i will try to head on to Regensburg tomorrow and test

The amount of threads that have been created just for this silly thing.. Seriously, I don't see why. People should just get the right model, or get a different device.

Why theres no page for POCO F3 GT/Redmi K40 Gaming Edition yet?

Even though aosp developement for F3 GT will be slow or may be none due to mediatek Dimesity 1200 but it should have its own page.
Up.! Please release Poco F3 GT forum.

Mediatek Dimensity 1200 has open resource architecture so there would be no issues at all in any of these devices with the chipset.
Even Xda isn't allocated forum for F3 Gt then there is no hope for custom rom development

Seriously, I don't recognise the connection between custom ROM development (or the start of it) and the availability of a dedicated device forum. On XDA you find many development for devices that don't have their own device forum. If there's no developemtn for a device it must have other reasons then the lack of a device forum.
Exactly my point. Nord 2 released same day as f3 gt has a forum. Also x3 gt released later than f3 gt has a forum . Don't know what problem devs have with f3 gt

Yeh totally, he might not be aware of development process but that's really not the point of this post. We just need it's own forum.

Issue is in the minds of people who just run away after hearing mediatek name.
Heck, I even heard someone saying "mediatek doesn't suit me". Is it a clothing item, that it doesn't suits you?

I so agree with you. Now that almost every brand including OnePlus, Samsung and Nokia are using these mediatek processors, I wonder why people would behave like that.
Are the people at xda sleeping ? It has been 20 days since phone released still no forum.
Please. Make a vote in this thread for Poco F3 GT forum.
Not all smartfones have forum in xda and never will have. For example many realme devices like realme 7 5g, realme 8 5g ...
in opposition to poco m3 pro 5g or redmi note 10 5g (all are very similar ).
If no users of device, no forum here.

I think you need to research. Poco f3 gt and nord 2 were probably most hyped phones in last quarter and many users have purchased the F3 Gt. And by many i mean huge numbers. it is still quite popular and many folks comments on new device forum requests page to add that phone forum. But xda seems to be sleeping
yes dimensity 1200 has become open source ( oneplus nord 2) but no custum rom yet
I have the realme gt neo (dimensity 1200)
Alas some shady deal going on lol

Does Mediatek SOC´s also have EFuses like the Qualcomm Snapdragon has?

Hello.
I am new in the Smartphone modding topic, and I also dont know if this belongs into this subforum, if not, sorry mny times, please move where it belongs.
I want to know, if Mediatek SOC´s have also irreversible EFuses embedded like the Qualcomm Snapdragon has?
How do they handle their chain of trust, Snapdragons do it by signatures that are "etched" in the SOC by blowing EFuses, that cannot
be resetted anymore, but I never heared, that Mediatek uses EFuses?
Regards.
It's amusing that no one would answer this post. Lots of people know the answer to the first question, and couldn't be bothered to answer? What a forum XDA is.
Yes, MediaTek processors have e-fuses and, yes, one of the purposes is for configuring verification of the first writable software stage to run on the device by the boot ROM. All of this configuration is irreversible.
Unlike virtually all devices that use Qualcomm chips, there are many MediaTek-based devices that aren't made by either Lenovo or one of the big non-PRC brands do not have restricted boot enabled. The high-end devices like Xiaomi and Oppo are now starting to use it though.
Details on the exact e-fuses are very scarce. There is a security configuration document that I've seen referenced by leaked MediaTek SoC technical reference manuals, but I have not found it myself.
