after flashing your favorite custom rom make sure that MHL is working properly , i was having trouble streaming movies afther custom rom flash , battery not charging , phone was getting really hot until it shut down itself not been able to watch entire movie, after going back to stock phone is working fine, it wasn't the new CWM as i was thinking i stil have it and is working fine now ....
Which custom ROM were you using?
The sIII has awesome USB otg support stock but on cm10 and aokp this doesn't seem to he the case.
All of the touchwiz based roms. (beans, cleanrom, and synergy)

Thanks! I wish aokp supported it but I will make do.
I tried almost every tw based rom including beans custom rom, synergy and cleanrom. None of them seemed to react to my on the go cable. The cable works fine in my friend's bone stock s III. Am I doing something wrong?
Confirmed working on CleanRom, but like the above said, I believe any stock-based/TW rom should work. I've used both an OTG usb cable and a micro-to-full usb adapter (which wasn't labeled as OTG) and both worked for me.
What are you trying to use it with? Some higher-drain devices may need a separate power source.
A 4gb flash drive and a wireless keyboard/mouse. Nothing that didn't work before root and rom flashing. Thanks for your help!
1. I lost connectivity to PC due to USB port on phone (it's not the cable, cables work on other phones)
2. Got my new phone so I reformatted the drive on the Infuse to clear it.
PROBLEM:
I have CWM Recovery, but cannot flash a rom! I load a rom onto an external Card, but get a message that I need to be rooted!
QUESTION:
Is there a way to flash a non-rooted, stock rom, without needing PC connectivity?
Is there a zip file out there of a stock rom? I only see ones requiring Odin, which doesn't help w/o PC connectivity.
I'm not aware of a package that will get you to pure stock without using Odin or Heimdall.
What firmware was last on the phone? GB, JB, or froyo?
If JB you may be out of luck, since there is no CWM option to repartition storage space. If GB or froyo I can adapt an install package to get you pure stock ... Let me know.
If you want to get close to stock...a deodexed stock with stock kernel, and you currently have red recovery, do the following (make sure to copy files to your internal SD card as red CWM does not read from the external card):
Copy rom and stock kernel packages from here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1508619
Boot cwm, flash rom
Boot rom, install root file mgr
Delete these files:
/system/app/Superuser.apk
/system/bin/su
/system/xbin ... (delete all files, but keep folder)
Boot cwm, flash stock kernel
Boot rom
You should now have a stock rom with deodexed system apps.

Thanks, I'll try that

Update.... The steps above will only work if you were running GB or Froyo firmware and have red recovery. In that case, you may also need to disable voodoo lagfix before flashing the stock kernel. Easiest way is to disable lagfix from red CWM and reboot prior to flashing anything. This will convert you back to stock RFS file system.
If your phone is or was running JB firmware, your file system has been repartitioned differently than stock, and the steps I detailed above will not work. (That's what I was implying when I said "If you are on JB, you may be out of luck").
Red CWM will not repartition your phone. The only ways available at present are Heimdall and Odin, and both require PC-USB connection. You might want to try different USB cables. I have one Infuse that does not work (even for charging) with the stock Samsung cables unless I hold it from underneath - not a good situation when flashing firmware ). I have other 3rd party (higher quality) cables that work just fine with that phone for both charging and flashing.
Good luck.

This is a long shot, but maybe try (with battery removed), spraying (with short bursts) the USB port from outside with some of this stuff:
http://www.amazon.com/CRC-05101-QD-Electronic-Cleaner/dp/B000CCMLD0
you can then try gently inserting and removing a usb cable immediately after spraying, and repeating a couple times. Last time, just spray a bit and let it sit. Give it some time to evaporate - 10 to 20 minutes or more depending on how much you sprayed into the phone, then reassemble and try USB again.
If you have a magnifying glass, you can also check to see if any pins are missing in the connector.
I,m using Galaxy Y S5360. previous i flashed the custom rom, hyperion without backing up my IMEI number. i know it was very stupid of me, and for that i cant make calls. its a huge problem. So i thought of going back to the stock rom, flashing with odin. but then i realise that usb port of my phone is damaged. Its not reading the data cable connection as one instead it starts charging. its not because of any driver problem, coz ive tried all. its a hardware problem. So please can anyone help me to give an alternative way to flash stock rom via reccovery mode. PLEASE help needed. the thought of bricking my scares the hell out of me.
Installing through recovery mode just need to transfer stock rom to your xtrnl sd card thats why you have to use data cable
Dear forum,
a few days ago my cellular connection (i can't connect to my provider) doesn't work anymore. Sometimes a day it works for a few minutes, but mostly not.
I have a Galaxy S4 with Lineage OS (was perfectly running) and there was no update when it stopped working.
Meanwhile i tried to wipe and flash the OS but the error is still there.
My sim card is working in other devices and other sims in my don't work too.
Thank you for your help

Flash stock rom via odin
if after you flashed stock rom via odin it still doesnt work it could be a hardware fault
To eliminate any software problems you must flash stock firmware via odin

Flashed the stock rom as you said, but the error is still there :/
Even when it displays that there is a connection, every call just stops after dialing
So i guess it is a hardware fault?
