Gear S3 Frontier unresponsive - Samsung Gear S3

I had to reset my S8 recently and my gear was on R760XXU1APK3 and phone on G950FXXU1AQK7.
gear app 2.2.17082261
what happened is I reset my gear S3 and paired it to my phone again.
I preformed a restore from the gear app which took quite a long time.
two days later my S3 became totally unresponsive and couldn't even do a factory reset.
the display was frozen at 10:10 2 February (some default date) however the gear management software on my phone could still communicate with my gear.
I went into battery usage on the gear manager software and saw settings was at over 45 % of battery usage, hit forced stop and the watch became semi responsive, enough to give me access to do a factory reset.
have no idea why this happened, just putting it out there for any one who may experience this in the future.

[Q] Gear 2 Notification Leaving S4 Screen On

Just had a quick question. I have not seen this issue posted anywhere else yet, I can't be the only one. If I receive a text message on my Galaxy S4, and view the notification from my Gear 2, sometimes the S4's screen will not turn off by itself, causing serious battery drain! I have the S4 screen time out set to 15 seconds. This same issue use to happen when I used the Sony SmartWatch 2. Again, this does not happen every time. It is very annoying and kills my battery. Any suggestions?

Gear S3 disconnects from my Zte Axon 7

Hello!
I'm having a problem on my Zte Axon 7 with the Gear S3, it disconnects shortly after I turn the screen off, then when I turn the screen on the location symbol pops up in the status bar and the watch reconnects. Close the screen and cycle repeats.
I have tried it on both marshmallow and nougat with every battery and gpssetting possible but no change. It's getting to the point where I'm thinking of returning the watch (I don't want to, I love it otherwise).
I'm guessing it has something to do with powersaving but even with everything off there is no change. Could it be that the watch is faulty or is that unlikely?
Robert
Hey bro! you should go to Mi-Assistant -> Accelerator -> and set the protection to All Gear apps (Samsung plugin, gear s3, SHealth, etc). Accelerator automaticly clear the active processes in your phone to clean the RAM
Hi Wolfpack,
I fixed it by going to Settings -> Power Manager -> Power Management for Apps -> ⁝ -> Screen-Lock Cleaning -> Disallow Screen-Lock Cleaning and selecting Samsung Gear to ON.
No problems since. Hope that works.
Sorry, disregard the above statement.
After a couple of hours without a drop-out it disconnected when I moved away from the phone and since then it is once again disconnecting as soon as the phone goes into standby mode, no matter how I change the above mentioned settings.

New Gear S3 update disables automatic alarm sync with smartphone

A new software update has been released for the Gear S3, the first one the watch is receiving after the major One UI update that Samsung pushed out a couple of months ago. The update that’s rolling out today is available in Germany, Canada, and Israel and should expand to other countries in the next few weeks. It brings improved system reliability and disables automatic syncing of alarms between the watch and the connected phone, which will probably come as good news to many.
That’s because after the One UI update, the Gear S3 has been forcefully copying the settings for a particular alarm from the phone, overriding any changes made to the alarm on the watch. For example, if you set the watch to only vibrate for your morning alarm and set the phone to vibrate and ring for the same alarm, you’ll find the watch ringing as well when you wake up. After installing the update that’s rolling out today, that should stop being an issue and your Gear S3 should remember your alarm preferences once again.
The new update is available for both the Frontier and Classic models and should show up as a notification on your phone at some point. You can also try and download the update right away by opening the Galaxy Wearable app on your phone, selecting About Watch, followed by Update watch software, and then tapping the Update now button. Since these updates are rolled out in stages, it will take some time before the update is available for everyone.

I got this update tonight in Michigan, USA. It's too soon to judge how it affects performance, battery life, etc.
Also got it, now 3 days ago.
Battery live is worse than before, approximately 5 to 7% more battery drain a day.
No other changes recognized...

6 hour battery

Hey guys I tried again to use my watch after a few months because of frustration I updated to the latest version I kept the screen off kept the Bluetooth on and that was it and I still have to put it on battery saver mode within 6 hours. I know this is impossible so what could I be doing wrong? Thanks

Hi,
I was having the same problem but in my case I found put that it was sort of a software problem.
I have a Xiaomi phone with miui 11 and the battery saving features are very agressive. I then put all the services and programs relates with the watch:
Gear s plugin
samsung accessory service
Galaxy wearable
Samsung Health
With autostart and none of battery saving. Then locked the two apps Galaxy wearable and Samsung Health on the "clean" apps menu (the one we use th square icon to acces on the icons bar).
I make sure that Galaxy wearable and Samsung Health are running before starting watch, and it lasts for two days (I'm using a black and white watchface and only the bezel can wake the watch).
Don't know if it works with other users or with other type of phones or if it's just a coincidence, but since I'm diong this the battery drain stopped.
