Just had a quick question. I have not seen this issue posted anywhere else yet, I can't be the only one. If I receive a text message on my Galaxy S4, and view the notification from my Gear 2, sometimes the S4's screen will not turn off by itself, causing serious battery drain! I have the S4 screen time out set to 15 seconds. This same issue use to happen when I used the Sony SmartWatch 2. Again, this does not happen every time. It is very annoying and kills my battery. Any suggestions?
Hello,
Gear S2 is here for about a year - what is the battery experience?
For example, someone charging the battery every day for a year - do you experience battery capacity drop?
My coworker owns Moto - after about a year of daily charging the battery lost most of its capacity making the watch unusable.
Does Samsung put better batteries?
I bought S3 recently and hope for a good news...
I have had my watch for over a year. Gear S2 classic non 3G. I charge it at night and use it all day and it is still at 60 to 70% I haven't noticed any real drop in the battery capacity
Same here. Not noticeable degradation after a year.
I received mine for Christmas 2015 and been wearing it every day since.
In fact, with the firmware upgrades, it may be better than when I first received. I do keep my brightness at 3, Always On, and Bluetooth only. No Wifi, no NFC.
I can get around 2 full days with a charge, but it takes some settings tweaking to get it. Normal stock settings, I'm lucky for 18 hours. Worse if I am running an overly elaborate watch face.
I enable Do Not Disturb when sleeping.
Delete Running widgets that you don't use (steps, heart rate, water /caffeine), stuff like that.
On the Gear Manager, go in and modify what notifications you receive on your gear.
Maybe it's just me, but it seems the more apps that send notifications, it drains both my gear and S7 battery faster.
I also like to look in the information screen, and look at the Memory Usage. CPU / Memory hogs will show there.

I had to reset my S8 recently and my gear was on R760XXU1APK3 and phone on G950FXXU1AQK7.
gear app 2.2.17082261
what happened is I reset my gear S3 and paired it to my phone again.
I preformed a restore from the gear app which took quite a long time.
two days later my S3 became totally unresponsive and couldn't even do a factory reset.
the display was frozen at 10:10 2 February (some default date) however the gear management software on my phone could still communicate with my gear.
I went into battery usage on the gear manager software and saw settings was at over 45 % of battery usage, hit forced stop and the watch became semi responsive, enough to give me access to do a factory reset.
have no idea why this happened, just putting it out there for any one who may experience this in the future.
i have custom watch face which minimize three opr rate below 15%. after turn on my gear s3 watch always on display, the watch cannot completely show. Anyone know how to make the watch face display as completely?
Hey guys I tried again to use my watch after a few months because of frustration I updated to the latest version I kept the screen off kept the Bluetooth on and that was it and I still have to put it on battery saver mode within 6 hours. I know this is impossible so what could I be doing wrong? Thanks

I too having same issue

Hi,
I was having the same problem but in my case I found put that it was sort of a software problem.
I have a Xiaomi phone with miui 11 and the battery saving features are very agressive. I then put all the services and programs relates with the watch:
Gear s plugin
samsung accessory service
Galaxy wearable
Samsung Health
With autostart and none of battery saving. Then locked the two apps Galaxy wearable and Samsung Health on the "clean" apps menu (the one we use th square icon to acces on the icons bar).
I make sure that Galaxy wearable and Samsung Health are running before starting watch, and it lasts for two days (I'm using a black and white watchface and only the bezel can wake the watch).
Don't know if it works with other users or with other type of phones or if it's just a coincidence, but since I'm diong this the battery drain stopped.
