Best kernel profiles - Moto Maxx Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have the latest nougat R.R. update + bhb kernel and I'm facing the problem with the battery shutting down at 15%. I've tried to get a balance between battery life and performance but I can't seem to get it. So I would like if you help me out checking what works for you.

Go read through the BHB kernel thread, where all the information related to kernel settings is.
Don't waste time creating a new thread for the same questions that have already been answered.

[Q] kernel

hello community. i am trying to get my brothers skyrocket battery life to last a little longer. i flashed PAC 4.3, everything works great except his battery life is dropping pretty fast. i know sometimes kernels can help with this. Can anyone link me to a good kernel that supports 4.3 for skyrocket? i looked thru the forums but could not find one. any help is appreciated. and if this has been answered a long time ago, i apologize for the repeat.
thank you in advance
I would get better battery stats and see what is using the battery and eliminate as many as those as you can. A kernel is not going to make a big difference.
Edit, see this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31974989
Sent from my Nexus 5
Some help for you

Well if you want a kernel for pac 4.3, here in the skyrocket forums I haven't seen any for pac, there is a just relaesed kernel for 4.4.2 called Moretz Kernal in the forums heres a link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2694688, that would require a 4.4.2 rom and the 4.4.2 pac rom might not work with it due the hybrid kernel it uses, I would backup the rom with either Titanuim back or somting or nandroid and go test a CM Monthly or one of the roms in the the forums for better batery, theres also this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2411161 to help cut down on the battery usage but remember to backup and read the first posts. Also the battery could be old and could contribute to the problem. Hoep this helps

help figuring out how to overclock cm11.2014.01.07 nightly?

can someone please help me out? i just figured out how to fix the battery drain thanks to android-andi! ever since flashing kernel test2.zip from android andi, my table has been on my battery charge for 3 days now! it used to last only 12 hours tops! so thanks android andi for all your work, cant wait to try omniROM 5.0.2. So back to my question, my Cm11 shows no overclock options. Is there something special i need to do?

This tablet platform and processor don't take well to overclocking, your best bet is to use a performance governor setting.

Advice for new Rom (XT1039 Peregrine)

Hi,
I know that this is going to be a very subjective question, but can anyone suggest a super slick Rom for my Motorola 4G LTE?
I tried CyanogenMod but did not fair to well with it - some lag and increased battery usage.
I really need something super lightweight and prefer function over nice looks.
It seems that three of the best contenders for this phone are Carbon, Paranoid Android and SlimKat - can anyone perhaps point me the direction of which one to use (or indeed suggest anything even better)?
Thanks very much.

roms which you suggested above their, development has been stopped mostly or has been inactive for 9-10 months. You may try Resurrection Remix rom .

If you find there is lag or battery drain flash hurtsky kernel

CM 12.1 is very slim, if you just use the smallest package for gapps.
greetings
Thank you both for that - I might have to try both suggestions and see which works best for me. (I am currently using CM 13, which might be the reason I am having problems).
It is very interesting that abhi0502 has mentioned flashing the Kernel - this is something I was not even aware of until now.
How does flashing a Kernel and flashing the ROM tie in with each other? I always thought that a new ROM would automatically provide its own version of the kernel.

yes it has own kernel but if battery and performance is not good as expected you can flash kernel (that is the reason i have rooted the phone.) You can flash kernel with cm13 currently and see if performance improves. But its always recommend for clean flash (Rom+kernel+gapps) to avoid errors
Just wanted to pop back on here and say thanks for the advice above.
I did try flashing the kernel as suggested but it kept causing my phone to randomly reboot - although it did not work well for me on this particular occasion, I shall definitely start experimenting with other kernel's in the future.
As suggested I wiped and reinstalled Resurrection Remix with the smallest version of gapps and not only is my phone massively more responsive, but the battery improvements are really noticeable.
Thanks again.

No offence, but there is already another thread discussing the same topic ie which ROM/kernel combo do you use. You can find it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/201...-driver-rom-osprey-discussion-t3333513/page23
If you still want to know, I'm using official CyanogenMod 14.1 20161224 nightly with Optimus R19 kernel.

Oh, thanks, and sorry for that, I'm using Optimus r19 Kernel too but on Stock 6.0.1 optimised, can you tell me what's the best configuration for better battery life and performance? Thanks!
Best setup with large battery is_
Stock 6.0.1 optimized + Optimus R19 with optimus governor (1399 - 400)
Almost 2 days of battery and very smooth.
Cyanogen is fast as a shark but drains too much battery

Oh yeah. CyanogenMod drains battery like crazy when compared to stock. Using Optimus kernel the battery life improved significantly.
Do we really need ANOTHER thread for this topic that has no real answer? I am inclined to flag this for moderator closure...
There is no "best" ROM or kernel, each has it's strengths and weaknesses... Try them and find the combination you like best, every one is a trade-off for something.
