So I recently switched from T-Mobile to metro PC's which required a sim change.
After that day I noticed the random stutters I had before are almost non existent now.
Been about three days now. I was on Oreo beta one for, now on beta 2 and everything seems fine.
My TMO sim card was about three years old.
might have been that you rebooted the phone during the sim change?

So I'm not connected to any network, Edge or 3G. This happened a few days ago, and I guess to a few number of people too on HowardForums. Well it happened again last night, and it still happening now. Fortunately I have wifi here, but still no data network. Anyone know about this/why this happens?
May be a problem with your SIM card. Older SIMs can create problems with getting on a Network. My phone would drop its data connection all the time in a known good area (my work consistent 3G), swapped out my 5-6 year old SIM for the one packaged with the G1 and viola! no probs since.
i have the same problems happen to me about 4 times already and i just got this sim card less then a month ago
So I've been having issues with signal and such, and happened to be on the phone with T-Mo about my bill when they asked if I had switched out my SIM for the one that came with my G2x... I said no and they went ahead and setup my new sim so I could swap it out after we got off the phone.
When I took my old sim out I noticed it looked like it had gotten pretty hot, what do you think?
Ok, I'm going to give you guys the whole background story just to cover all the bases.
I've had a Nexus S for about 6 months, never had a hitch. Rooted it, etc etc all fine and dandy.
About two weeks ago, I updated it to CM 7.1 RC1. So far so good.
I've always had the same Vodafone SIM card, which has accompanied me through a couple of phones. Last week, I went to London and bought a UK pay as you go card, to use data without roaming. Perfect. No problems whatsoever.
So, to make it clear, I never had problems with my original (portuguese) SIM card, nor with the british one I had just bought.
However, it was upon my return that I realized I had forgotten my SIM card at my friend's house. I quickly stopped by the Vodafone store at the airport, where they promptly gave me a new SIM, ready to use within a couple of hours.
Since then, my phone after a short period of being on, spontaneously fails to detect the SIM card/no longer recognizes it. I've tried scanning for networks in the settings, but it won't let me register again. It takes a reboot to get it working. Thing is after a couple of minutes or hours, it happens again.
I have since exchanged the new SIM card with a newer one , also from Vodafone, albeit a different store. Yet, the problem persists.
I didn't alter any settings between Portugal-UK-Portugal, so everything should be exactly the same. Does anyone know how to solve this or why this happens?
Faulty phone?
Faulty radio?
Faulty SIM cards?
ROM bug?
Any help is appreciated.
TLR - Is it more likely my 4g sim card has died out of the blue or the radio in my older Droid Bionic has fried?
-Using a droid bionic that is probably 3 years old, duel booted with the newest kit-kat. Problem occurs on stock as well.
-So for the last few months my phone has been dropping all service(wi-fi & data/cell) then coming back on a few minutes later.
-The other day 4g/cell service dropped completely. The wi-fi still works but seems to be iffy. I have to airplane mode on and off a few times to get it to come back.
-I'm looking to buy an HTC One m7 off craigslist (I still have unlimited data) and I don't want to buy a new phone if a new SIM card will solve the problem. In turn I don't want to buy a new SIM card and have the phone be the problem.
-I've gone to two verizon stores and one said SIM cards die often, the other said it was the phone.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I'm poor and it could save me a lot of money.
Thanks in advance

I'm having a really strange issue that has persisted across two phones (Nexus 5X and Pixel) and 2 SIM cards. I'm on Verizon.
Sometime in early October, I started noticing my phone would occasionally completely drop from the cell network for 10-20 seconds at a time and then reconnect. This continues to happen about 1-5 times per day. When it drops, the signal bars are hollow like there is no network in range. If I try to text or look at my lockscreen I get a "no SIM card" message, but I never see the "no SIM card" icon appear like when you physically remove the SIM card.
Around the time this started, two things happened: I got a new SIM card (long story short, Verizon messed up my mom's Note 7 exchange, and I had to get a new SIM) and I updated my Nexus 5X to the October 2016 Android security release build. I was lazy about troubleshooting the issue because I had a new Pixel on preorder. Once the Pixel arrived, I moved the SIM I had been using in the Nexus 5X to the Pixel. I quickly noticed that the problem also occurred on the Pixel. In fact, it was maybe slightly worse. I assumed the new SIM Verizon had given me was bad, so I went to a Verizon store and swapped it out. But the problem still continues!
So now I'm confused. This problem has continued through 2 phones and 2 SIM cards. Could this be an Android issue with the October 2016 security release? That's the only thing the Nexus 5X and Pixel have in common. Could I have gotten 2 bad SIM cards in a row? That seems unlikely. Could there be a problem with Verizon in my area? The problem does appear to occur more often in specific physical areas, but it's not 100% consistant. I'm not really sure what do think. Has anyone else experienced this problem, or does anyone have any thoughts?
