[Q] Detailed way to upgrade to lollipop

I got the phone very recently, been using a rooted Sony Walkman Live for years, so I am kinda habituated to rooted devices. But, I bricked the HTC trying to root it (probably wiped system by mistake when trying to fix the root, it was showing no os installed). Now thanks to the master thread of RUU,TWRP,OTA I got the phone working, but had to downgrade it to android 4.4.2 using TWRP backup. The root wasn't working on lollipop but seem to be working fine now and all, but I want to upgrade to lollipop. What's the best way to do it because I can't risk bricking the phone again. So a detailed direction is welcomed. Thank you all

[Q] About Moto g 4g Root

Hi friends, i have a moto g 4g xt1040, android 4.4 KitKat. I have some questions about root:
About unlock bootloader... its very risky? on the website of Motorola warn of extreme risks.
1. If i install a custom rom, I will not have problems returning to Stock Rom? (using cmd commands like any tutorial)
2. If my device is rooted, and I get notification to upgrade to android lollipop, I can install it correctly without problems?
3. if my phone has lollipop, and i rooting, I can do a downgrade?
SORRY for my very bad english I had help from google translate :silly:
Thanks and best regards. :good:
Hi!
You can unlock your bootloader without problems.
I didn't have problems to return to a ROM stock.
You can update to Lollipop if you are under ROM stock, or you can install CM!
I don't know about the downgrade but I think it is possible.

Need some help ; new owner

I had a LG G3 but it broke down. I got a Droid Ultra from a friend and i got surprised! First time I have a Motorola phone. I thought I was getting a crappy phone but It runs perfectly fine.
I want to root and install a custom recovery so that i could flash a Lollipop ROM. I've been reading some threads but I'm quite confused about what I should do first. I want to be able to run a Rooted Lollipop ROM on it. I've read some threads about rooting for the build SU6-7 but mine has SU6-7.2.
If any of you could please tell me what I should do first, I'd be more than grateful.
The phone is unrooted (checked with Root Checker).
Android version: 4.4.4 build SU6-7.2
System version 24.13.2.obake_verizon.Verizon.en.US

Okay, so here's the deal:
You can root (to some degree) using CrashXXL's method found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-ultra/general/droid-mini-maxx-ultra-root-pogress-100-t3071609
or his other method found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-ultra/general/crashx-t3220408
Keep in mind though that neither of these root methods disables write protection so you will not be able to flash a custom recovery or install a custom rom.
At the moment there is no full true root/bootloader unlock for the Droid Maxx/Ultra/Mini on 4.4.4 su6/su6-7.2

Your welcome. And sad to say but there is no way to get Lollipop on your phone with a locked bootloader.

Family Mobile LG G Stylo H631 Softbricked after using KingRoot w/ Marshmallow

Just a general PSA. I reverted to 5.1.1 Lollipop stock and OTA'd to Marshmallow with my LG G Stylo purchased from Family Mobile. All seemed well, and I rooted via KingRoot, which claims it has a G Stylo unroot strategy for 6.0. All seemed well. Configured my phone, used apps that needed root. However, when I rebooted, I got stuck in the 1003 Security bootloop. Am now downloading Marshmallow KDZ to see if that gets me back into a sane state.
tl;dr Don't use KingRoot to root Marshmallow with your H631 just yet.
(Use this after all updates are taken)
Fastboot boot twrp recovery
Then flash the Twrp.IMG in recovery
http://m.supersuroot.com (to root)
Yep, I went the adb->fastboot->supersu route after reverting to stock. Xposed and TWRP seem to be working fabulously. Had a devil of a time getting fastboot to work with the latest LG Stylo drivers, and ended up having to install the LG United Mobile Driver in Windows and adding it in Device Manager manually.

I'd love to know where you found the Marshmallow KDZ also, been wanting to update but OTA wont work for me. gets half way and crashes.
Please do the reseach before going flash crazy.. On mm you need to fastboot unlock bootloader before root or you will get bootloop. Here is the kdz guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g-stylo/development/stock-lg-h631-firmware-h63120b-kdz-t3339342. Here is the root guide i used and it worked perfect for me http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g-stylo/how-to/guide-lg-g-stylo-how-to-root-t-mobile-6-t3333916. Anytime i flash kdzs, i turn off my internet connection before starting lg flash tools to avoid unimportant errors. The only thing strange with using lg flash tools without internet is the part where you pick install language is blank but still works perfect. Good luck

Problem updating my xt1033 stock.

hello everyone.
I have a moto g xt 1033 which is an Indian variant as 1033 stats. It is currently running on 5.0.2. I once tried to jailbreak my phone( get root access), but I failed to do so(I think). because i checked after the procedure by root checker app and it said ROOT ACCESS IS NOT PROPERLY INSTALLED ON THIS DEVICE. So i cant update my device to marshmellow. Actually I have no idea whether to root it again and then unroot or directly flash it manually with stock or how. Any help here will be much appreciated.
thanks in advance:
Follow flashing instructions exactly, in first post of this thread, and you will be running rooted Stock Marshmallow:
