Need some help ; new owner - Droid Ultra Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I had a LG G3 but it broke down. I got a Droid Ultra from a friend and i got surprised! First time I have a Motorola phone. I thought I was getting a crappy phone but It runs perfectly fine.
I want to root and install a custom recovery so that i could flash a Lollipop ROM. I've been reading some threads but I'm quite confused about what I should do first. I want to be able to run a Rooted Lollipop ROM on it. I've read some threads about rooting for the build SU6-7 but mine has SU6-7.2.
If any of you could please tell me what I should do first, I'd be more than grateful.
The phone is unrooted (checked with Root Checker).
Android version: 4.4.4 build SU6-7.2
System version 24.13.2.obake_verizon.Verizon.en.US

Okay, so here's the deal:
You can root (to some degree) using CrashXXL's method found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-ultra/general/droid-mini-maxx-ultra-root-pogress-100-t3071609
or his other method found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-ultra/general/crashx-t3220408
Keep in mind though that neither of these root methods disables write protection so you will not be able to flash a custom recovery or install a custom rom.
At the moment there is no full true root/bootloader unlock for the Droid Maxx/Ultra/Mini on 4.4.4 su6/su6-7.2

Your welcome. And sad to say but there is no way to get Lollipop on your phone with a locked bootloader.

The next question is : how to root it!

Trust some friends have updated to Android 5 for XT1033, and here is a coming question, how to root it?
Updated: Already rooted, thanks, buddies.
Hate most softwares read my contacts and messages, have to root and have LBE Security to keep them out of my privacy. Hope root solution comes out early.
Install CWM -> Flash latest SuperSU, this should work

This always works when custom recoveries are available. Don´t uderstand the OP´s question...
Use CF-Autoroot for moto g, its the best way to root L atm.
Use CF Auto Root. Tested on my XT1032 worked fine. Note though it may erase files on your phone.
Code:
http://download.chainfire.eu/599/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-falconumtsds-falconretbrds-xt1033.zip
Yeah, your are right, just as easy as rooting KK, Thanks, man!
Will cf auto root going to work on locked bootloader also???........ Can anybody share chainfire thread of rooting moto g Lolipop version,,,,,,, on its official website I can only see moto g cf supports upto 4.4.3 for XT1033.....

[Q] Will a brand new Z3 be still rootable ?

Hi,
im looking at buying a Z3 at the weekend but the main thing is will it be still rootable? Im not sure what firmware it will come with
Are all versions still able to achieve root?
If so could someone link me to the best root method, much appreciated
I've bought a Z3 3 weeks ago and it rooted just fine. You do need to flash an older firmware

5.0.2 isn't rootable, at least not directly.
As long as we have root method for at least one fw available for device we can root all new firmwares.
So...it's not a problem to root Z3, no matter which fw was on it.
All you need is to downgrade to 4.4.4 (version that could be rooted), root it, install recovery and then upgrade by flashing prerooted ROM.
Z3 will retain root possibility as long as its alive...
Of course, all of that applies for locked bootloader.
If you want to unlock bootloader, you could root device by flashing kernel via fastboot...
Z3 powered by Tapatalk
thanks for the help, phone is coming tomorrow so it will be the first thing i do.
Coming from a nexus 5 so should be quite an improvement, especially battery life.
Another Question
is app2sd built into the firmware? or do you need a third party app which requires root?
things i need installed on SD card:
all games / apps including titanium backup PRO
can it be done?
If you get a new T-mobile Z3, you will not be able to root or unlock the bootloader.

[HELP] Root / Custom Bootloaders?

Ok so I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 SCH-I353 running Android 4.4.2
Kernel version: 3.4.0
~~~~~~~~~
After searching around for past few days an reading around n such I've not really been able to find just a straight answer for this so I figured ok might as well go ahead and make a thread.
As far as I've got I believe I AM able to root the device which is cool BUT can I also get a custom recovery or boot-loader n such too so I can use different ROM's n such or am I **** out of luck? I don't wanna brick my phone obviously so if anyone could just give me a no or a yes and if a yes please point me to a link that will explain how to root / use custom boot loader n such.
Thanks in advanced for anyone who takes the time to reply.
Currently, there are no known method to unlock the bootloader on a Verizon S3 with firmware 4.3 and above. Attempting it will brick your phone.
You can root it but as stated in the previous post unlocking the bootloader is impossible on 4.4.2 and is not even an option and DO NOT attempt to try to unlock it. There is one method available which is a jtag service but finding one to do it is what's almost impossible
Got Cheated with a Z3 Prototype Protected
i got more info from the other threads on this similar issue.
Since i invested my one months salary to it (its stupid i know) and the seller could not be found i am about to fix this my self but i need some help i have low knowledge on Flashing , Installing Rom etc. So Please Help me.
Model # D6603
Android 4.4.4
Build # 23.0.1.A5.77
Rooted = NO
Bootloader = NO
will this work ?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/development/deodex-23-0-1-5-77-deodexed-zipaligned-t3015178
i cant post images since new user
It is for d6903 not for d6603. And you cannot flash a pre-rooted ftf file if you have not rooted your phone before flashing. I think you should just flash the latest marshmallow ftf for d6603 and root you phone afterwards.
I'm pretty sure prototype protection is the apk that does that just delete it. Use kingroot to obtain root. find xz dual recovery theres actually an apk for it so if you found that and installed a prerooted zip you don't even need a computer becarefull what you are flashing if you flash the wrong stuff you could brick your phone.
Thanks for your reply.
You're saying that to install a pre-rooted Rom I should root first. Then install the rom.
Could you link me a good rooting software and flashing Roms?
I found a site which could Flash 5.1.1 W/O root using flash tools xperiafirmware.com, Could you tell me whether that method work ?
The best way is to flash kitkat and root with giefroot. 5.1.1 rooting methods by kingroot, sends your IMEI to an anonymous IP in China.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/general/guide-rootrecovery-how-to-root-install-t3017056 this is the common and safe rooting method. However, if you don't want to flash kitkat and stuff, you can flash Marshmallow ftf files(you can download them through Xperifirm) and root your phone http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/general/wip-sony-android-6-0-mm-t3337357 with this method
Thank you Guys for your help ! i flashed Marshmallow ftf and the phone is smooth and got rid of all the Prototype issues. thanks again.
i just got one off ebay with same issue, I am unable to get it to fastboot or bootloader mode with vol buttons, very strange, and nothing when plugged in with USB, does not turn on or display in win 10, i loaded the usb drivers for it but still nothing...
I need a rooted rom for Galaxy SM-G920V anything later than OG7
So basically I never wanted to update my phone but I accidentally pressed Install Now when I was trying to open the messaging app. Now I can't root it anymore or downgrade it. Worst mistake ever for my phone :crying:
So my phone found a new update, but I don't want to update it because I want to look for a updated ROOTED rom that is later than OG7. If anyone has a odin flashable / zip flashable, PLEASE message me. I have a friend that works with android roms, he said that its something to do with the bootloader and it has to be rewritten by hand to make it rootable because of verizons bootloader, and to unlock the bootloader. PingPongRoot doesn't work anymore after the 5.1.1 update. I really hate this update. it slowed my phone down a lot. **** you verizon :crying::crying::crying:
Anyways I need a rooted rom to flash on my phone to make my phone think its signed by Samsung or Verizon and it's a new update. Please help me root my phone. I really got nothing to root it now ;-;
Sorry, it doesn't exist for the Verizon Galaxy S6. The last rooted ROM was OE2.
Have you tried updating to Marshmallow? I'm on CleanROM 1.5 android 5.0.2 OE2, and have been curious of the new android version, but at the same time do not want to lose root. Let me know if Marshmallow is worth losing root. Only advantage I see to root at this point is not having all that damn bloatware I really hate and cannot remove without root. Thanks.
I rather not update it unless
1: A root method is available
2: A rooted rom for Marshmallow is available
Just saying. upgrading to 5.1.1 unintentially (mainly because i was directly going to the messaging app but accidentally pressed install now) made me loose my root access. That's why I'm seeing if there is a rooted rom for that rom or a root method for that room.
From what I understand, it seems verizon is never going to allow it. Just look at Note 4 from verizon, it came out in 2014 and still no sign there will ever be root available for that one either. I'm even considering moving to tmo since there is root on their devices. Good luck.
