OnePlus One Keeps restarting itself - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Here is the problem. My phone has suddenly restarted, and every time it starts up, home screen is empty (maybe once every 10 restarts I see home apps) and notification pops on the screen: "Unfortunately, Trebuchet has stopped working". A few other notifications pop up also, saying that some other apps have stopped working as well. After I close those notifications, they just keep popping up. Whatever I try to do, the phone restarts itself after 10sec – 1min, and it goes like this forever.
I haven't tried to do a factory reset because I have data from last ~6 months on it.
Is there any way to fix this without loosing data on the phone? Any help would be really appreciated.

How long will it take to back it up, since I have max 1-2 mins before the phone reboots?

In that case,I'm afraid you'll have to proceed without backup.

I actually managed to copy the data in the end. Yesterday I flashed Cos13, and to be honest I really like it. Thanks!

Screen wont stay off?

Over the past day i have realised that the screen will not stay turned off!
This has only started recently and i am trying to eliminate hardware.
Once i turn it off the screen stays off for around 5secs then flicks back on permanently, i have eliminated a faulty button as it doesn't switch back off at any point?
I have uninstalled every app except default
I have wiped and reinstalled cm30 about 6 times!
Anyone have any clues? Really frustrating!
Try to do factory reset and back to stock.
And see if the problem is coming.
If not, then your custom rom might be the culprit.

What...? System Checking?

So I moved some crap from system app (Bloatware) to my sdcard and rebooted and now I'm stuck at system checking.
Am I sol?
Did you do a backup first?
Nope of course not ROFL.
Okay I'm good it booted. What a scare!
"System Checking" means "you're screwed" in Korean. The phone will either reboot itself back to stock or you'll have to do a hard reset to revive it. It's happened to me three times.
yeah happened to me yesterday and ended up with a factory reset phone.
i wish someone would shed some light on this and the conditions by which it happens. This phone is full of mysteries from random reboots to factory resets.
I just wiped and installed EagleBlood, hoping it will do better (at least until CM7 is in good working order).
I thinks it's a corruption issue. Two times I was playing with settings (Bluetooth profiles, changing icons) and the phone started acting weird and I got "System Checking..." when I restarted it. The good news is that I can now completely load my apps and configurations in less than an hour.
happened to me yesterday, but I didn't let to finishing "checking". I pull the battery out and restarted the system. No factory reset or anything. the system booted nicely the second time. so next time you might want to do the same
Happened to me last week, and I wound up having to do a reset.

Glad to hear t booted.
What apps did you move?
this happened to me yesterday. not rooted. my phone did a random reboot earlier in the day and i noticed one of my alarms didnt go off so i powered down, turned back on and it gave me the system checking message. after like 3 mins it booted up fine.

I haven't seen this not to say it hasn't happened without me knowing but my guess is if the phone reboots or crashes and then at startup it notices a filesystem error or some corruption is when it throws that up. If it can fix it, it does (people who reboot fine) and when it can't you're hosed.
Think of it like if you have a desktop and you pull the cord. It will try to recover but depending on the state it was in it might not be able to.

my phone only did that after i did super one click and i figured it just verified new files or something. im still up and running great. i have 5 backups. can never be too careful
I notice mine does system checking if I forget to mount the /system filesystem back to read only before a reboot!
Happened to me last night, except i was not so lucky. the phone kept rebooting and never get to pass the LG start up screen. Tried the hard key reset and it showed a message of "S/W Upgrade, Please Wait"
Phone t-mobile, they're gonna send me a replacement phone, less the back cover. As soon as the new phone was on its way, I tried to hard key flash again and this time it worked.
But, I am still gonna return this POS and hope the new one can perform better.
Had this happen this morning. I had used the Quick Boot app to reboot my phone, and after it reset I had "system checking" for a few minutes, followed by an infinite bootloop!
Fortunately I had installed ClockworkMod Recovery yesterday and made a nandroid backup, so after restoring that I was back in business.
I will no longer use Quick Boot though. It seems to shutdown the phone unsafely.

[Completed] My Huawei Y511 has been experiencing problem and won't reboot

I had been having problems with my phone, like notifications saying "google play has stopped" or "google + has stopped" etc. And so i thought the best solution was to restart the phone, but it will not restart. It turned off but only the starting screen would appear afterwards, even after several hours it would not change. I have only had the phone for around 6 months. Any ideas what could be wrong with it?

A quick fix to this would be to backup your messages, contacts and apps and then perform a factory reset.
This should definitely fix the problem
Cheers.

No,
It is done from the device itself.
It should be in backup and reset in settings.

Has anyone downloaded and installed the new wireless update? Not sure why they changed to the Google messenger. Especially since Allo is due out soon.

Installing now. Kind of a disappointing update, but at least we haven't been abandoned.
I didn't think Allo was going to do MMS/SMS, but I've seen conflicting reports.
It looks like the issues I had with background apps closing when clearing all apps has been fixed. I've got no apps running in the foreground yet can see Whatsapp, Fitbit, etc still running and I'm receiving notifications for them.

The issues with the background apps closing seems to have been fixed. Thank goodness. Now Tasker and pushover work when closed.
As for Allo, I haven't read anywhere that SMS and MMS are not supported. It does seem to suggest that end to end encryption is primary.

I downloaded it and now my phone won't start up properly. It goes into a loop where it says android is starting and it is optimizing apps and then restarts back to optimizing apps over and over. I contacted Blu customer service and they said to hard restart mt phone. It doesn't work and my phone still does the same thing.
Since the update, it change the sms native to Google messenger and worts off it there is a bug, no notification at all on every sms program.
Do you have a link for this update?
-sent using this app on this device.

I just hard re-set the phone a couple of times in a row and let the phone do its thing, optimizing the apps for 3 hours straight. The phone started up by itself and worked after that. Hope this works for you.

Hold the power and up volume buttons for 10 seconds to re-set phone. A menu with options will come up, select using the volume up/down button. Select re-set phone option with the power button. I did it twice in a row.
turning wifi off
So when battery is around 20% the strangest thing happened, wifi just turns off when phone is locked, just when it´s locked. Anyone else having this issue?
Does anyone know where to get the v19? I had to perform a factory reset and it backed up to v16. When I do the update it now claims that my system is damaged.

I do, but it was never a problem before the update. It seems rebooting helps with this issue, and then it lasts for like 1 month and then happens again. And now battery lasts nothing! do you have this issue after the update?

Cyanogen redirecting to home screen every 2-3 secs

I was accessing chrome and all of sudden everything got minimized to home screen. I tried killing apps, restarted mobile, power off phone and start but no luck.
From any app I am in, if the touch screen has no touch for 2-3 secs , then it Will bring me back to home screen. However I am able to download apps from play store by touching screen continuously.
I am on latest update of cyanogen provided by one plus one. Any help is highly appreciated.

Hi,
I tried factory reset (Without data). It only worked for the day. Today i realized that it has started doing the same thing again. After every 2-3 secs anything gets redirected to home screen. Battery doctor also is not killing apps and gets redirected to home screen. The mobile is not getting locked as well.

Compscho

You should not be using any apps like "Battery doctor", this might be the reason for this type of behaving of device. Please uninstall any other apps like this also.

I installed security guard. Post that its working fine. But will definitely try to remove it as well as battery doctor and similar apps to see if there is an issue.
Thanks.
Issue still persist

Hi,
I uninstalled all optimizing app. However, the issue came back. Now it is not getting solved even after installing them back.
Do you think it is an hardware issue?
It may be an issue with compatibility because if you're still using the stock cyanogen OS
You will still be at android 5.1.1 and the current version is 7.2.
I may be wrong though so don't take my word for it
