January 1, 2018 security update has been released, build OPR1.170623.026.8.1.10

The second Oreo update has just been released. Kernel version: 3.18.66-perf-g5c453c8 [email protected] #1 Wed Jan 10 14:49:20 WIB 2018
Currently nothing is known about this update - no changelog, no announcement, nothing.
Let's discuss what's been fixed and not fixed in comparison to the first Oreo update.
I haven't received it yet and I don't want to clean Google Services Framework data (this often breaks your notifications).
Fixed issues:
GPS icon stuck
DND volume UI problem
Ambient notifications can now be interacted with
Fingerprint swipe gesture UI is now enabled
Bluetooth battery drainage
Phone app freeze/delay
Audio quality for video recording
Wrong rapid charging message
SIM is HD capable icon
App is running in background notification

GPS issue is still there.

This is an update for beta testers. They already had January Security Patch.

No, this is a stable update. I am not participating in the beta program, yet i just got the notification that there is this update.

For me:
location notification issue is fixed
wrong battery usage reported by Bluetooth is fixed
Fingerprint gestures option is now present.
Ambient display works fine now (imo)
Issues encountered:
Mi services in settings has green icon (OCD)
The network traffic indicators outside the icons (is this an Oreo change ?)
I did not face any of the other reported issues before.
Battery life and connectivity seem to be fine on this build.

Yes, it's really annoying but Xiaomi refuses to fix it.
What about lock screen notifications fonts? In the first Oreo build they were increased unnecessarily.

This can easily be fixed with Substratum and https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.msfjarvis.substweaks.

For me everything is working flawlessy. Xiaomi devs did a good job.

I am on magisk....is that the reason I am not getting the update.

No, i clean flashed the 12.29 oreo build and am not getting the update either.

I've received the update after a clean flash.

Try clean flashing the last nougat update via MiFlash, I just got it after setting my phone up

How do u use mi flash and can I get a guide please.

The battery stats still not shows well, after clean flash.

for me dialer issue is still present...the Phone app freeze/delay as before...i have tried thousand methods:
factory reset
reflash rom and update to january patch
change slot sim
clear app\data of phone app
update phone app
downgrade phone app
reset permission
I do not know how to do...i' m very sad and disappointed for this update :crying:

Oreo rolling out on dbt

Hello everyone. My s7 edge is on unlocked DBT and it is downloading 1268mb update so it is the Oreo update.
Just sharing the news with you guys.

Anyone else noticed the delay on the lockscreen? When I turn on my screen, there is a short delay before it shows me the clock and notifications. At first I just see the Wallpaper and nothing more. On Nougat there wasn't such a delay. The clock was instant there after turning on the screen.

Yes yes I noticed that. The clock and notifications are showing 1 - 2 sec after the wallpaper. Maybe it's just animation.

It's in developer settings and called "Animator-Dauerskala" in the german rom.
It's on 1x per default. I set it to 0,5x

Another issue I noticed today:
SideSync via USB cable doesn't work anymore.
I could not test it over wifi, so maybe SideSync doesn't work at all on oreo.
Did somebody test it?

Hello i've noticed that when i restart the phone always popup simCard manager. Its every time i restart the phone showing.

The SideSync USB is no longer working for me either. Did you ever get it working? SideSync via Wifi is not an option so I'm pretty much screwed.

I think they leave it by mistake, because in my language this option is still in English. I don't think they would leave some new feature like this.

I guess they really did something with the battery management. I only updated to march MR a couple of days ago but today I noticed I have already reached my 4 hours SOT, when my battery normally dies. Now I still have 30% juice left.
Preciously the only thing that improved the battery life was to disable adaptive battery management and auto powersave. Now it is re enabled automatically and I haven't touched any of the settings.

I assume now that it is official, that SafetyNet is passing ok so things such as GooglePay aren't a problem? I had avoided trying a beta because of the lack of SafetyNet failures on them from what I had read, and I tend to use GooglePay and a few games that need SafetyNet.

Can't really answer that definitively, it came out a few hours ago. I don't consider using Beta releases as proof, and the thing about battery life, is that it is so dependent on what you do with your phone, that each one of us will get different results.

I'm surprised that the update is only 16 MB if you're on the final beta, but I think I remember the update from Android 8 beta to 9 being similarly tiny. That's a pretty good indicator that barely anything changed from beta 6.

WIFI and Bluetooth broken after update
WIFI and bluetooth will not stay on. Factory reset doesn't help. Neither does going back to Android 9 and doing another OTA to 10. Staying on 9 until further notice!

Go to gesture settings. Switch to 2/3 buttons

Mine on Android 10. Problem is :
1. Full dark mode but not on google feed
2. Force dark mode is good, but in Facebook app highlight text/Notification text is turn to white.
3. No Face unlock
4. Media crash on calendar sound
5. can`t use gesture navigation with 3rd party launcher

Updated OTA last night. So far so good, not noticed any specific issues yet.
Kudos to essential for keeping so on top of these updates. If they do ever release another one I will buy one so long as they strengthen the phone/data signal a bit. That is pretty much my only disappointment with this one, but still it was worth every cent of the 200 bucks or so I paid for it.

Flashed ota through twrp and rooted using Magisk's canary build.
No issues thus far. I can change the stock calendar notification without media crash, but I'm only using the stock sounds. Are those experiencing issues using custom sounds?

Still can`t use gesture navigation with 3rd party launcher?

I am from the Philippines using an unlocked T Mobile V60. After reading this post, I checked the update in settings and saw this too. I am not sure I want to press the button though. I'll wait for braver souls to try it first I guess.

I like it so far. Even snappier. Mic and camera controls are nice.

One bug already: screenshot share and edit buttons do not do anything.

So I took the plunge and updated to 12. Screenshot edit and share works with no problems. I didn't do a factory reset.

I just found the problem: I had all animations to 0 in developer options. They need to be on at least .5 for share and edit of screenshots.

I was unable to type using any keyboard when using Naver Whale browser. Other browsers worked fine though. I had to manually update Naver Whale browser to enable typing again. This only happened after upgrading to 12.

i have a t-mobile v60. i checked the system update page and i can see it but the download will not work. can anyone please send me the link to download the update so i can manually flash my phone?

I just got bought a used v60 TMobile variant and I'm trying to get it unlocked for my carrier here in Canada....I tried one site and they were unable to provide an unlock code (possibly the original owner didn't pay their bill). The IMEI comes up clean here when I ran it but I may be forced to have a remote unlock from what appears to be a reputable company online. They want to flash the v600vm kdz to unlock it.
It has android 12 update ready to download but I held off because
1. I don't know if it will affect being able to get it unlocked or flash the other variant firmware
2. I wanted to wait to see if there are issues with android 12 on it.
But I'm wondering if it's at all possible the android 12 firmware is no longer locked?
Any suggestions for my particular situation?

Has anyone else had camera problems since the android 12 update. The camera settings menu has dissapeared.

Anyone get display not registering movements/taps?
I thought that this was an issue with the drawing over other apps functionality that A12 has been cracking down on (Tasker, Pixel Filter, etc.), but even disabling/removing the aforementioned apps, this still happens intermittently, which renders that phone useless randomly. No matter how many times I lock/try to unlock the phone (via fingerprint), the screen just does not register taps/swipes...
And yes, this happened from A11-A12 upgrade, and is still present after doing a factory reset on A12.

I did a FDR and I still have several bugs.

Can you be more specific? Are you in the photo or video mode for example? Have you tried deleting the cache (and/or data) of the camera app, and trying again?
EDIT: Are you using battery saver mode perhaps? I know when you are using extreme battery saver (or whatever it's called), camera app becomes real basic, and there is no settings menu.

Smart Lock notification was stuck in the settings menu, Bluetooth initial connection bug, when a folder is created to group apps and you click the plus to add + select the apps you want and click done, they are not added. These are the initial ones I've noticed. I've had a few times where I went to go back to a certain screen and it studders. Google Map when it's small cause you have to take a call or go to something else and try to click the square box won't maximize, you have to go to the app icon and select it. I do run Google bets apps. These apps didn't give me issues prior to update though.

The update now available in the United States or maybe all of North America not sure... But there is a solution... try to change your location "VPN USA" and you will get the update
