Twrp won't work.
1. There's no official support.
2. I can port twrp for my phone but I can't get the bootloader unlocked. The porting of twrp would be useless if we can't unlock the bootloader.

[Q] OTA Update Question [Xperia T]

Hi All,
I have an Xperia T with a locked bootloader, I've rooted it using the backup&restore method... a couple of days ago an OTA update became available, but I'm afraid to install it in case it somehow kills root then locks me out of putting it back again.
Any ideas of what this update will do?

... I'm fully aware what a software update is, and does.
My question is, will this remove root (it presumably patches the timing exploit used to gain root too, meaning no I probably cannot root it again after applying this update) and no I cannot unlock the bootloader.

I triend also to get it correctly rooted (sm-j500fn) but no luck so far despite rootchecker stating it's rooted.
Tried CF-autoroot, some twrp , unrooted, rooted again and still the same.
Rootchecker pro says again it's rooted but looking further into it it says adb non rooted etc..
Some helpdesk tried as well but couldn't get it rooted neither .
No idea how to make it a correctly rooted
Try this

You are confusing unlocking the bootloader with rooting.
The two don't happen on their own.

Yet unlocking both was required to unlock.
Sorry but I can't understand. Before I was on htc and it's very different
Unlocking the BL allows you to flash custom software. By unlocking you just got access to partitions. Now in order to have root you need a root manager, like Magisk to manage and grant the root requests. To have this managing app you need to patch your current kernel and then flash it and only after that your root management app will work. And yes, now that you have BL unlocked your phone will fail safenet checks, but can go around that by having root
